Misc Instead of using old cottons with IV for a fix, try this method instead!

That's what I was saying about maybe the q tips were different back in the day and maybe had something nasty in it.

But anyways the topic is about bacteria in filters and beating the dope out of the filters.

I understand where you are coming from. Most people consider 'cotton fever' as a term to address bacteria growing in previously used filters of any kind.

The original term is only because it is cotton though and not any other type of filter nor "unclean" cotton.

A preservative would likely work.

If youre going to keep filters, which i dont recommend, id store them air tight in the freezer as mentioned. Its how i save cottons and havent ended up sick that way...yet.

Its just not a good idea at all.

To get all the drug simply.do.a second wash of the filter before your initial shot, add extra bit in. Voila! No neef to keep dirty cottons round risking thr chance.

There are a lot more kinds of bacteria, molds and fungi that will grow on damp materials than in the water itself, and a lot faster, too.

Does anybody here just try to get the most out of each shot by using a plunger to apply pressure to a cotton that you just drew up solution from? I know a couple people who have had cotton fever and have just started to do this instead. Pushing out all of the moisture from said cotton while holding the cooker on a slight slant, then tossing the nearly dry cotton into the trash and pulling up whatever you were able to squeeze out of whatever was left in that cotton seems like a safer bet, although (of course) the risk of re-releasing caught particulate matter during the application of high pressure is a risk in itself.

Anyways, I'd say saving cottons or storing solution in a rig for more than like 12 hours is dangerous period. No, you're not definitely GOING to get cotton fever by reusing them, just like you're not necessarily going to get Hep C or HIV from sharing a rig, but that doesn't mean it's worth the risk. If you get rid of them after doing your shot by flushing them down the toilet you won't have the temptation to reuse them - Probably the safest way of dealing with used cottons, IMO.

I always just soak and beat my filter and do it all at once. Bam no dirty hits from used cottons if you don't save em.

I ain't trying this storage method out. Lemme know how it works out for the brave.

I've had an abcess and well it fucking sucked and when the doctor walked in and flipped a coin and said "that's the odds on keeping that arm". I was in the hospital for 8 days. The hospital sent a pastor to pray for my arm. I was getting 2-3 different types of antibiotics at once 24/7. For some strange reason they didn't see a need to put my pain medication in the drip and just gave me pills even though it was pretty damn painful. It was orgasmic when it popped and drained.

Sorry for the tangent. But I say just buy more dope or save some for later.

Not sure exactly what causes cotton fever, however it's extremely rapid onset with no warning is far more like a reaction to something than a bacterial infection. Been there, done that, gone from fine one minute to uncontrollable shaking and extreme freezing cold the next. Can literally fuck up your day in 60 seconds. Best "cure" I've found for cotton fever is immediately eat a Goody's or BC powder, and drink as much water as possible, and keep drinking. You may require someone else to hold the cup for you if you are shaking really badly.

I get that and am generally on board for the changing current usage of language, but I don't like when words/terms which are the only way to efficiently communicate a meaning are changed. Call it 'old filter fever' or something instead. With the double meaning there is rampant confusion and the only way to convey the original meaning of having cotton fever is overly explicit. Hell the important discovery behind cotton fever is even lost to most people from what I can see.

and every other post you made in this thread including this gem----

Earns you the award of Worst Person on Earth To Be Trapped with in a Stuck Elevator

Congratulations

you know, there isn't a lot that fazes me but the idea of injecting a solution prepared from nasty mashed up old cottons, wet and dried so many times, black cottons, brown cottons, who knows how old they are... is just so far out to me. my girl always used to inject cotton water when she was caught a bit short or the dealer was taking his sweet time and i would always plead with her to cut that shit out... why not save a little bit of a buffer out of every tenth you get or something for hard times? budget a bit, use some restraint. please don't shoot cotton water. consider what you are injecting directly into your bloodstream... saving old cottons and using cottons that are days, weeks, months old can just never be harm reducing behavior. not even when you microwave them first. just my thoughts.

I had a fuck buddy girl that did the same shit. She used to even save the powder left over from oxy's and shoot that shit over and over. It was fucking sad. She has some crucial tracks. Her hands are completely fucked for life and really both her whole forearms. She collapsed veins in her crooks right off the bat so that area has the least damage because her technique is garbage. I think she just likes needles as much as the dope.

She got dirty hits on the regular too and she would just think she was dope sick. She's a cold bitch too. I got a dirty hit when she dropped my filter on the floor and stuck it back in my cooker. I took the filter out and used a new one but the damage was done. She didn't give a fuck that I got a dirty hit and felt absolutely horrid and she just kept asking me to go on a mission with her and I told that bitch to get the fuck out my house and made her leave.

Thank god she doesn't know how to do a femoral. I wouldn't show her how to when she asked me to help her.

I've done many a cotton shot and been smacked upside the head with cotton fever. Every junkie I know round here knows what cotton fever is...I get the shakes bad and hot/cold flashes feels like total shiet:! Never gotten high off one neither but then again I draw up til the cotton's dry & the brown color's gone; usually for me it's more a psychological thing like maybe you're trying to trick your body into feelin like you did a full shot...or maybe it's the needle fetish...maybe both...

The only time i have gotten fever was while using a brand new cotton and rig..

was throwing up,barely could walk, sore everything, pounding head,i had to get off the bus,...and was so sick i couldnt even fix again to make me well..

mostly when doing cotton shots in my experience, and opinion is merely a placebo effect, as far as the left over powder from oxys when shooting, and trying to shoot the left over powder, thats just the pills inactive ingredients and fillers, oxycodone is water soluble so chances are she already got most the oxy the first shot she took, but i fell victim to that addictive thinking myself..

I'm always saving my cottons. Tho I just throw them in my drawer.

I try not to suck up all the liquid and then nine cottons balls later or so I'll have a decent shot to get me well. I know this is pretty unsafe but I've taken cottons from friends but one day I took theirs and washed it right after they used it and later that i night i got "cotton fever" and nothing had happened to them...I found this quit strange. Any reason this could have happened?
