Hi all,

I am currently 72 hours into - what should be - a pretty horrible withdrawal from Poppy Pod tea, and I feel obliged to post this.

I have been attempting to get clean for the past month and a half, and have continuously relapsed around this time, or occasionally one or two days further into the withdrawals. This time, I have been taking approx 30-40mg of loperamide once a day, beginning on the last day that I used.

I have zero withdrawal symptoms right now, and am even in a really good mood, where normally by this time, I would feel like living hell, and suffer pretty intense depression and anxiety.

I find the people on here who ridicule those who support loperamide childish, and ignorant. I can assure you that this is not the placebo effect that I am currently experiencing.

I sincerely hope that those who find themselves standing on the precipice of withdrawals at least consider using loperamide as a withdrawal aid. I am 100% certain now that it works, and it is much more effective then I could have ever imagined.

I will update as I continue on through my withdrawals, as I am interested to see how coming off of the loperamide works out.

Also, I had a normal bowel movement this morning, so I am not worried about faecal obstruction.

Update:

WARNING: IF YOU USE LOPERAMIDE AT HIGH DOSES, BE KIND TO YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM, AND LOAD UP ON WATER AND POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL; I FIND THAT THIS IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE STOOL SOFTENER FOR OPIATE INDUCED RECTUM-RIPPERS. I almost went to the ER with a horrible impaction a week following this post. The irony is strong with this one...

I've used low doses of lope for wd's. very helpful. Just don't stay with it too long. It's got a long half life and I hear its a bitch to kick.

ya but if you are not using for maintenance. you still need to taper lope or you will still have WDs even 10 days out on just 40mg of lope if you stop lope cold turkey...as above poster mentioned use a quick taper because of its long half life...

I think the withdrawals either depend on the person highly, or they are extremely mild because of the long half-life.

Last summer, I maintained on Loperamide for about a month and a half... I had to take stool softeners almost every day or I would become dangerously constipated. I was taking about 40-70mg a day, and when I stopped, I had pretty much no withdrawals :| Now, I was working out hard at the gym every single day at the time, so I credit my extremely mild to non-existent withdrawals partially to that (I believe that my natural endorphin production may have been sustained because of this), but I am 100% serious... I did not experience any notable withdrawals at all.

just as a word of caution: a week after posting this, I hadn't shat since this post... It took 4 enemas to pass the fecal impaction that I created from THIS ONE DOSE. It was larger then my fist, and even though I dosed PST 2 hours before passing it, It was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I am now on stool softeners, and my rectum is in terrible shape. There was a lot of blood, and it [my rectum] was even swollen slightly out of my asshole after passing this stool (this has happened to me once before, and luckily it does not seem to be a permanent prolapse or anything). I almost went to the ER because of this. I will never take Loperamide again after this experience.

To be fair, how would you know? We're all susceptible to the placebo effect - that's why it is used in scientific studies. I get what you're saying, I think, but no... Just no... We're all susceptible to it.

Hell, don't knock it. If it works for you then that's all that matters. I don't know anything about what you're doing and won't comment on it other than to say that, concerning the placebo effect, we are all susceptible. It is very strong, very impressive in its results, and has even been shown to have actual physiological results in some people. Nobody is "too smart" or "too wise" for it. Nobody is "too aware" or "too in-tune" for it either. So, it could be placebo... You wouldn't know. Even if it is, which I'm not opining on - and have no knowledge of concerning this particular substance, then the big question is, does it matter?

The answer, I think, should be no so long as you're getting the results you need from it. That is, I think, the most important thing. Other than that, well, a double blind study on the Loperamide would be an interesting read perhaps, Google may reveal the results of one for you. I haven't looked as, well, it isn't something that I care about and wanted only to touch on the subject of the placebo effect and the reality of it. It's devious, but interesting.
