Opioids First Time 210mg Codeine - no effects?

I took 210mg Codeine, its my first time using Codeine but I abused Tramadol 3 weeks until now. Is my tolerance because of the tramadol so high that I didnt feel any effects or whats wrong? I always took 200-400mg slow releases Tramadol.

I dont even notice any itching, that should be present at that dose, right?

my pupils look normal too, on tramadol they were very small.

yeah you should defo feel it at that dose, i take codeine recreationlly once a week at 200/240mg doses and its definitely itchy, it might be your tolerance yes

fuck...could it be that the med was fake? but cant believe that. ordered tramadol from the same iop and its great. But even if its because of the tolerance, shouldnt I even feel the itch or small pupils?

I'm thinking about taking more to check if its really a fake product (came in blisters, spanish codeine) or should I wait? when should the codeine begin to work after investigation?

Firstly, it could just be your CYP2D6 enzyme deficiency. It's nothing bad, it just means the codeine won't convert to morphine very well. It usually takes a higher dose for people with this deficiency and your slight tolerance doesn't help either. I know my first dose on opiates ever was with codeine and it was 240mg - it did nothing. I took 300mg the next day and it worked.

EDIT: Although the pupil thing is weird. I don't know; maybe you have a really low deficiency. It's rare but possible.

Thanks, forgot that. But I took it once years ago and it worked very well. I think I took about 150mg back then. Did you noticed any itch at your first time with 240mg or small pupils?

I didn't notice anything at 240mg, but I noticed definite high, pinpoint and itching. Even if you have a low CYP2D6 enzymes you should still get itchiness, since the norcodeine is converted by a different enzyme. Maybe it was bunk or something - or you did a bad CWE (if you even had to do a CWE)?

EDIT: Consider taking it again at a slightly higher dose (+50-100mg extra) another day and see how it goes. Maybe what happened with you is just bad luck?

I am now at ~300mg. Pupils are normal. Itching..I don't know, I dont notice anything. I feel definitaly somehow high. But I just feel tired and bored. No Euphoria, no nothing.

but the effects are definately different than the first time, first time was really good. Is it usual that iops sell fake products that come in original blisters and package?

Redosing soon after your original dose isn't recommended, as it becomes less effective. What you felt was probably analgesic effects or some partial opiate "high". I don't know about them selling fake products, but maybe it's cut or something? I don't know. I used to just buy from pharmacies. Wait - IOP is an online pharmacy? If so, then it's very unlikely you got fake crap especially since it was in the package. Did you have to perform a CWE?

I don't think it would be worth anyone's time to go to all the trouble making up fake blister packs, codeine just isn't worth enough to warrant that sort of effort.

Codeine really isn't anything to write home about, in the first place. After using the tramadol for three weeks, that dosage of codeine might not even rate. Probably have to take more. Add some promethazine if you have any, makes it a lot better.

Yeah, I don't think its fake, but really disappointing. Dont know if its because of my tramadol abuse. I definately feel high now, but its just the same as when I don't sleep for 24hours. I just feel tired, no itch, no euphoria. ~300mg a bit analgesic effects.

What do you mean by CWE?

Don't have any promethazine, but I get Desoxylamin and Diphenhydramin, is it as good as promethazine? Was afraid to add benzos to the codeine, because it was my first time. Yesterday I took 2 Etizolam ith about 400mg of Tramadol Slow Release and I thought I was blacking out, but thats probably "nod", right? (I am not so experienced with opioids) I woke up and had very crazy dreams and my whole arm was numb, because I layed on it probably

CWE is Cold Water Extraction. It's used to extract the paracetamol and ibuprofen from codeine pharmaceutical products so as to avoid any damage from the drugs. I would stick with doxylamine as a synergistic potentiator.

EDIT; Sounds like a typical nod or more specifically a high during sleep. I used to always wake up with my arms and legs not moving. It's more than often because you sleep on it.

I would probably just start with 25mg - the recommended dose for sleep-aid effects. It acts as a sleep aid but it's also quite an effective antihistamine - meaning that it blocks out those annoying itches you get; or at least the unwanted itching/hives. Take it 30 minutes before the codeine. But be careful, using sleepaids like doxylamine can cause a lack of sleep after a while - and I ended up taking 75-100mg before every dose once or twice a day, and it really can get out of hand with opiates.

Tramadol feels different than codeine and other classic opioids and it also has different pharmacodynamics, it's weak at mu receptors and much of its effects come from its effect on noradrenaline and serotonin. Codeine converted to morphine and its other metabolites exerts its effects through mu, kappa, and delta in a much more balanced way.

With that being said, opioids also at times don't work properly on the first time. Codeine, morphine, heroin, anything. My first 100mg codeine phosphate dose with one 500ml beer almost made me nod, I felt blissful as later morphine, heroin, and other stronger opioids made me feel after i.v. injection. But I saw many people experiencing nothing right after the shot of heroin with extreme drowsiness and nausea later. Some people say it was boring and they didn't want to take it again and some people say they felt it after their 3-4th shot. I hate tramadol myself, it made me feel so dirty and during opioid withdrawal it hardly was a full substitute, noradrenaline and serotonin flood overpowering very subtle weird opioid feeling.

I mean, maybe you expect from codeine to produce effects it can't produce if it's not tolerance or 2D6 deficiency. ("euphoria" sounds enormously, one may be really disappointed)
