I have read it is not as crucial as with rue seeds, but is that true? If there are dietary restrictions, what would they be and would 12 hrs before moclobemide administration be enough to remove any problem with diet intake from earlier in the day?

Even with harmala alkaloids you don't have to take the dietary restriction (tyramine) too serious and the same goes for moclobemide. You should stay away from most drugs though

At the moment I take moclobemide twice a day for depression and I have not noticed any serious interactions with food in general. In the package where you have the drug info that warns you of all the side-effects, lists the ingredients etc they state that "You should be careful with Aurorix if... you consume large amounts of old cheese". That's basically the only thing they mention regarding food/dietary restrictions concerning moclobemide, cheese with high tyramine content. My doctor didn't make a big deal out of dietary restrictions either, just warned me that SSRIs (and similar drugs) can be deadly if taken with moclobemide.

So I think it's safe to say that you aren't putting yourself in life threatening danger even if you don't take serious dietary precautions, assuming you are otherwise physically healthy. You might however experience some discomfort such as headaches and slight dizziness, this is my personal experience too.
