Misc Trazodone or Seroquel?

funny that most people here dislike trazodone so much. here where i live, it is often prescribed as an antidepressant (i take it myself since last autumn), and in my opinion it has very little side effects. and btw, getting priapsm from it is rare as fuck. sometimes, if i cannot sleep even with the trazodone, i'll take 25-50mg quetiapine (seroquel) with it, but then i feel like shit in the morning.

Amitryptilline gave me the weirdest feeling ever. It was like a permanent panic attack. I was so paranoid on them, I could not believe it was and anti anxiety drug. I could barely talk to clerks at stores because I was so scared. So that was some nasty stuff for me.

A lot of people report really negative side effects from that stuff. I've only taken it once and it wasn't pleasant.

For me seroquel works well to knock me the fuck out. Think I remember reading though that LOWER doses (25 to 75 mg.'s) are intended to aid with sleep. The higher doeses are where is starts to act as an antipsychotic. For me personally though, if I take it and don't allow myself to sleep for whatever reason, then I get real bad RLS

P.S.........50 posts! Only took me like 3 years to get here (mostly a lurker and I'm way better at taking advice than giving it.....he he). I think the first thing I will do with my new status is to hop on over to The Lounge and post some pictures of my cock.......hahahaha.

I found amitriptyline to be a fantastic drug for treating trigeminal neuralgia which is the condition i was originally prescribed it for as well as in treating insomnia (it was the best drug I've ever taken for that purpose) as well as depression which i later found out to be bipolar disorder. Unfortunately it crapped out and stopped working altogether even though i was at 150mg's a day the maximum outpatient dose. I took it for maybe 2 years everyday and i have never had any medication work nearly that good for nearly that long when it comes to insomnia. With amitriptyline i got a better rest then normal and i have heard some people say that certain tricyclics such as amitriptyline, doxepin and some others can improve sleep quality. It can however make some peoples anxiety worse as it is a tricyclic anti-depressant with serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor properties and of course very strong anti-cholinergic effects as well. Maybe you had the misfortune of being sensitive to the norepinephrine reuptake inhibition. Who knows as all these drugs affect everyone differently.

Really? I know alot of people who have taken it as it seems to be a favorite anti-depressant here for treating major depression where chronic pain is also involved especially fibromyalgia and i only know a few people that got bad reactions from it. I was scared to death to take it as the last anti-depressant i had taken before i tried amitriptyline was venlafaxine and that was possibly the most awful medication i have ever been on. Well either that or carbamazepine. I have also gotten a bad reaction to every anti-depressant i have taken since then except amitriptyline and bupropion the latter of which i take everyday to help treat bipolar disorder. Various anti-depressants have made me suicidal and at times almost homicidal in a odd way but nope amitriptyline just made me put on a fair bit of weight :\ . That was the only real side effect i got from it and it was a small price to pay.
