Opioids codeine freebase

so a friend of mine was given a few codeine pills, they have 30 mg of codeine and 15mg of caffeine and 300mg Acetaminophen. my friend intends to make these into freebase form. he added 5 crushed up pills to about 1/3 cup of water with a half tsp of baking soda. he boiled this to the point of evaporation and scraped the leftover solid into a bagie. the leftover solid was similar in color and consistency to brown sugar except way finer. by that i mean it was a light golden brown and fairly sticky and a little moist but not granular. my friend intends to freebase this out of a meth pipe or off of tinfoil. if he were to do this which method would be better? or is this substance not safe to consume?
 
So should I tell my friend that his freebase codeine is unsafe and he should try again after cold water extraction? Or is it reasonably safe to use? It would be a shame to waste the pills as they are rather hard to come by around here
 
Smoking a ton of APAP is going to be horrible for his lungs. It sounds like his 'freebase codeine' is mostly tylenol :| He could eat it, which IMO is what he should have done with the pills in the first place.

A cold water extraction of the codeine would be a far better way to go about it! Then he can try all that shenanigans, turning it into base, etc, if he really really has to do it. But yeah tell him not to smoke all that damn tylenol lol
 
Haha thanks a lot morph ill let him know! I think he just wanted to try a new method of administration for a change but ill make sure he doesn't smoke it. If we manage to cwa and make it into proper freebase ill make a new thread about the experience
 
No it's not solved. Codeine still has to be converted by enzymes so smoking will do nothing. If anything, these ROAs will cause a severe histamine reaction and even pulmonary edema. Just extract the codeine from the paracetamol by doing a cold water extraction (CWE), and drink the resulting liquid. The paracetamol isn't safe regardless of ROA, and codeine is only definitively safe orally. Besides, it's pointless to smoke it for it still has to go through the liver for conversion.
 
^Yes that's what I was thinking, the histamine release by smoking it would most likely be dangerous. Codeine has a very high oral BA anyway, just do a CWE and drink it - much safer and you'll get the results you want in any case.
 
what your friend has is mostly not codeine, it's mostly acetaminophen.... don't even bother trying to smoke it

you need to do a little more than mix baking soda and crushed tylenol 3s together.
 
the trick is to do the CWE first then boil it down, you'll get a brown sugary looking substance, though you could vaporize it, there's a risk of a massive histamine reaction that would kill you. So next time, CWE, don't bring to boil, evaporate, take powder cap it up and eat it. There's really not much point to doing this unless you need a bunch of codeine without apap for travelling purposes.
