Cannabis warning in Ireland after two women fall ill in Co. Louth!!

"Gardaí have urged anyone using cannabis in the Co Louth area to contact a medic after two young women were admitted to hospital.

The pair – in their 20s – are said to be seriously ill in the intensive care unit of Our Lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda after using suspected contaminated cannabis.

A senior Garda source said: “There is a serious public health concern for this community.”

"In two separate incidents, a young woman was taken to hospital after becoming ill on Monday night, while the other was admitted yesterday morning.

It is believed they both had used cannabis in recent days and are suffering symptoms not usually associated with the drug."

It is suspected that the cannabis may have been mixed with a synthetic drug.

"The HSE today issued an alert to community and voluntary groups working with drug users advising them that a contaminated batch of cannabis seems to be circulating in counties Cavan, Louth and Meath.

It also warned anyone suffering bad side-effects after using drugs to seek medical help straightaway."

Gardaí warning is for all cannabis smokers in my county to see a medic!
Very unrealistic harm reduction. 8(

Must be that brown "squidgy" hash that was circulating at a recent festival. Looked well dodge. Nothing like afghan black or other soft hash. More like dry play dough that cracks from lack of moisture instead of the usual oily mallable "squidgy" hash. Didn't even smell like hash when burned.

nothing's safe, if these greedy bastards can mess with it - they will. anything to make a quick £ as we all know this already! it beats me why people are still smoking hash/resin anyway, we have any ammounts of decent strains available skunk wise (ye some people might be be able to source the good stuff) but surely these people would rather go without than buy half a truck tyre and whatever else they can mix with our resin

sounds like soapbar just became a whole lot more horrible in the 21st century. Could be anything in that :/

There's a fuckin YouTube tutorial on how to make noid hash FFS!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA1ZcR27hdE

Petition Youtube, quote the above report & advise that this sort of behaviour is irresponsible, criminal & downright fuckin deadly & the vid shouls be removed.

If the Provo fancy knee-capping dealers with REAL drugs, these fucks contaminating cannabis resin for profit should be right at the top of their list! Knee-capping might be a bit to good for them, how's about amputation of the hands? Won't be contaminating cannabis again, will they? Sometimes, & by the Gods I hate to say this, but in this instance Sharia law might be the right idea. I once dropped the best part of £300 sterling in Egyptian money (& that was ALOT of Egyptian money), right outside the bank & walked miles back to the hotel before discovering my mistake. After a very long, very stressful walk back to the bank I found my wadge of dosh kicked to the side of the pavement & up against a wall. A homeless Egyptian camped outside the bank had been keeping an eye on it, but wouldn't touch it for fear of the Tourist Police

Just a wee ancedote for you...

lol, the hospitals will be happy with this news story, fucking hell.

Yeah, sounds like a smoking blend, or an adulterated noid hash.. :(

I've put a warning out on facefuck (even though it's in Ireland at present).
Cheers for the heads-up <3

Looks like one of the girls might not make it! :(

Belfast Telegraph said:
"Samantha's mother revealed how she has "lost all hope" for her daughter. Fidelma Morgan, who lives in Drogheda, said she believed her "little baby" was slipping away.

"We've been told that the best case scenario is that Sam will be left with permanent brain damage. We are just distraught," she said. "She's my little baby and my only child, and now she's slipping away from me.

"We've lost all hope. My father is already making his way over from England for whatever will happen next.

"We're bracing ourselves for the funeral to be honest."
"

Highly likely these cases are NOT cannabis related:

Contaminated cannabis unlikely to be behind severe illness in two women

By Tom Brady and Louise Hogan

Two women, who are in a serious condition in hospital, may have become ill from using substances other than a contaminated batch of cannabis.

Fresh toxicology tests were under way last night to determine how they became critically ill.

But gardai now believe that cannabis may not have been a major factor in either case.

One of the women is now thought to have been inhaling a deodorant and this may have been more significant in creating her medical problems. Last night the woman's condition at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda had stabilised and she was no longer in a coma.

The second woman's condition was also stabilising last night but she remained in a coma.

Fears that a contaminated batch of cannabis could have been responsible for their illnesses grew after initial toxicology tests on samples taken from the women at the hospital.

However, urine samples were sent yesterday to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin and then forwarded to the state laboratory and the forensic science laboratory at garda headquarters for further tests.

The fresh tests on the first woman, who is from Drogheda, showed that abusing the aerosol was the likely cause of the damage to her respiratory system.

Samples

She had been in Dublin on Tuesday and returned home to Drogheda that night. She was taken to the hospital at around 4.30am on Wednesday.

The second woman, who is from Kilsaran village, outside Castlebellingham, Co Louth, was taken to the hospital on Monday night. The additional tests on her samples had not been completed late last night. But it is believed substances other than cannabis are likely to have been responsible.

The two women, who are aged 24 and 22, are not connected. One of them is the mother of a young child.

the Hearld newspaper over here makes the Mail and Sun look good.

being following this story all week - when the news first broke it was on every radio station and every news paper for 2 days solid.

then when it was found out that it was not cannabis that caused the women to fall into a coma only there local radio station LMFM covered the story and one news paper had a tiny little article saying it was not cannabis.

the above link was from a news paper printed Saturday, that's over 24hrs after it was announced it was not cannabis.
