Just because THC is a bronchodilator doesn't mean that it protects your lungs from smoke. A bronchodilator is just something that dilates the airways to allow increased lung flow and air capacity. The smoke from Marijuana can actually be worse for you (in theory) than Tobacco smoke because of the increased amount of carbons that are carried into the lungs and that aren't burned off when you smoke Marijuana.
The only reason why you don't see black lungs from Marijuana smokers on the news is because of the lack of studies to determine if Marijuana smoke can leave that much tar and do as much damage to the lungs as Tobacco (which it can)
