Just spewed everywhere.

Someone had turned the first slice off the bread over obviouosley.

Anyway made myself a chicken sandwich, tasted a little funky but conintued. 3/4 the way through turn over the sandwich and its all completley green and furyy blearygh

I'm into those white beans atm - I bought a bag of the dried ones which were really cheap. If you can plan one day ahead with your meals then the dried pulses etc are a great money saver.

dried beans and pulses are ace, cheap, and super-nutricious. I only got into the habit of buying them when I was in Turkey. Love them now.

Chip Sarnies - chip shop curry sauce, Branston Pickle, Mayo, Tomato sauce.

You've managed the butch with that chest-wig shot in Turkey. I'm surprised you got hustled, you'd pass for a Turk. A hard as nails undercover military espionage operative one.

Homemade carrot pickle = well hetero btw :D

^Haha - not sure if you were modding when I posted my 'unshaved' pictures - the Turkey shots I was trimmed to a respectable 'fluff'. I wish I could post a picture of my s/o - he makes me look like Barbie. He's a bit shorter but very stocky - he has those 'Fuck with me and Ill kill you' eyes - so romantic <3.

I really need to go out with Mr & Mr Bearlove one of these days. I get the impression it would be joyously debauched and vaguely terrifying all at the same time. Doubt anybody would look at me pint or spill me bird either :D<3

In cheapo foodstuffs news, am getting quite into dried legumes of late. Tinned ones are kinda extortionate really considering all you need do is leave the blighters soaking overnight.

Also, your tinned carrot/spud currycake thingies sound like a winner to me, Bear. Was wondering what to do with the thing cos I fukkin hate tinned carrots.

The creamy cannellini beans recipe from one of the restaurants I used to work at is one of my favourite things to eat in the whole world at incredibly easy. All round winner.

Made some homemade Sashimi with Miso Soup and had some fairly decent ales to wash it down. Had some raw swordfish as well, but put balsamic vinegar on that instead

That Sashimi looks well tasty - I really enjoy it but he's not a fan so seems like a bit of a faff on for myself. I'm doing roast chicken / mash potato later on.

There really good for you and if you can plan one day ahead and soak them the night before there super cheap. I think they form the basis of a lot of Middle Eastern meals and there subsidized in a few countries (along with bread, fuel etc). How long were you in Turkey?

Nah we look like security but both love a good laugh and carry on - often takes people by surprise :). I hate tinned carrots also so mashing them up with your potato and frying them would hide the taste :D.

If you get your dried beans and soak overnight - cook them, mash them up with garlic make patties and fry them (falafal). I can remember buying those big tins of mixed veg / making a curry out of them and eating it every night of the week. Really cheap but filling and quite healthy :)

nice owen..pollAck though ;)

I make a mean paella, not done one for ages. Is fucking lovely food. When it's done right, which I'm sure you do owen.

Bearlove, was in Turkey for just over 2 years, on two seperate jobs.

Spent a year in Madrid too, where the Spanish woman I was living with taught me about paellas, and cocido madrileno (reallly good, oldskool cooking)

I stand corrected on the spelling.8)

I don't really know what I'm doing with paella actually, but given the nature of my employment and experience I'm sure I'll have a decent crack at it!

I think I could live in Turkey - it's got a great vibe about it but Istanbul was just so busy - I'm going back (probably next year now) and will stay out of the city center to experience the normal / local day to day living.

Madrid is a fun place also - my mate has a very nice Penthouse about 10 mins from the center, sounds crazy but he doesn't use it so we just stay there during our travels. I have to admit during our last trip we had a 'meh' time and sort of put us of returning for a while.

I think that any locally made stew is always going to be tasty - if the carbs are chickpeas/pea's in general then all the better as they just get tastier the more you reheat them.

I've been making my own coleslaw. And wondering what the fuck I was thinking buying the stuff in tubs! Home made is much cheaper and tastes a lot better too! Finely sliced cabbage, grated carrot, grated shallot, chopped spring onions, grated cheddar, a bit of mayonnaise and splash of vinegar, takes about ten minutes to make enough for four meals. Do it! DIY coleslaw is win! I would use chives too but the shop was out of chives. Any other tasty coleslaw variants?

Want to try my hand at making my own mayonnaise too.
