Another day, another "worst drug in the world" story:

What's interesting is that no one seems to know what it is - claimed as some sort of derivative of methamphetamine, and certainly looks like from them smoking it in the video.

But also notable are some of the users talking about new drugs on the streets really often - makes me think that these could be various cathinones etc spilling over from the RC market? At 1-2 Euros at hit, the price would point to that.

Yep, that's what I was thinking. Although since methcathinone is banned under the UN convention on psychotropic substances, so I guess is controlled in Greece too? For it to be that cheap I thought that maybe an uncontrolled alternative would be required.

Why make methcathinone rather than methamphetamine if their equally illegal? I can't see that methcathinone would be substantially cheaper to manufacture.
 
Was mentioned in Gibberings too. Someone posted summat from the UN (?) saying samples tested positive for methamphetamine. Methcathinone would seem to be more likely due to cheapness and ease of manufacture though as it seems to be being produced locally mostly. Although psuedoephedrine is uncontrolled in Greece apparently so I guess meth wouldn't be out of the question. Let's hope the local kebab shop starts selling it here =D
 
if this is simply methamphetamine - im guessing it differs from what we see in the US - crystal methamphetamine. As in reasonably clean/pure shards of methamphetamine. Im presuming that sisa is simply methamphetamine made more crudely with ingredients that maybe are not used in the production of higher quality crystal meth, which would explain the cheaper price maybe? It wouldn't be a mix of methcath and methamp would it?.

Crazy since krokodil was meant to be the opiod methamphetamine for eastern europe, now theres a cruder version of methamphetamine for southern europe.
Interestingly there seems to be little reporting on Paco , Oxi and horse around southern America. Watched a Drug Inc on Dominican rep or some other southern american country, in which heroin users had slowly gotten addicted to a cut in heroin - Xylazine a horse tranq. This progressed into the users actually seeking out 'horse' along side their heroin and cocaine. Dealers would offer heroin mixed with Xylazine or offer the drugs seperately so the users could mix them to ratios of their choosing. The stuff really seemed to fuck people up pretty bad. Whats much much more worrying than some new horror drugs on the streets of Greece is the total disintigration of the health services in Greece. Greece is actually the perfect storm at the moment - growing drug/HIV/homelessness epidemics and the growth of neo facist parties , I wouldn't be suprised if militant anarchist groups started becoming more pronounced. I'd imagine the cartels might start taking a look at Greece soon, such an unstable country would work well for them if they wanted to branch out more into Europe.

methcathinone is substantially cheaper and easier to produce than methamphetamine, when you have a supply of OTC pseudoephedrine, as is the case in Greece i I believe.
 
Methcath and methamp are both cheap and easy to make from (pseudo)ephedrine- a one-step oxidation or reduction, respectively. The talk of batteries makes me doubt it's methcathinone, I imagine they're using an alkali metal and ammonia as a reducing agent (I know it says acid, but sulfuric acid would be, imo, inferior to HCl for salting the product out in either case, and HCl is readily available).

This is available at street level and is some kind of stimulant. Not meth I am afraid and not my scene, but have heard a junky or two saying the worst things about what it has done. There is a bus route, dubbed the 'Magic Bus' that starts from a run down area in Athens and ends in an area where Gypsies live in small congregated part. Have taken the route two or three times due to unrealted issues, but it's a long ride and you hear enough.

Methcathinone? Wasn't there a methcathinone epidemic in russia/soviet union even maybe, years ago?

Why is it so bad? Is it any good?
 
methcathinone is supposedly the best stimulant ever. it's also insanely easy to make from ephedrine, in fact the most simple of all drugs to make. i've only tried ethcathinone and am too afraid to make methcathinone out of my ephedrine using my microwave and shit from a hardware store but from ethcathinone i can tell you it's pretty fucking good.

why go for methamp when methcathinone is so much easier to make (making it cheaper) and better high?
 
I was under the impression that methcathinone paled in comparison to methamphetamine? I also though 4-MAR or phenmetrizine was the best stimulant ever?
 
I think it's even a poor man's pirate, I think it actually did kill quite a few people in the Russian epedemic...

i think the best stim ever is a subjective thing lol but either way methcathinone sounds like it packs a hell of a fucking punch, even when compared to methamphetamine. I don't find meth to be that much different than d-amp other than duration, tho i've only taken it orally (fucking meth pills here no powder for some reason). The cathinones though have something different about them, from my experience with ethcathinone and all the cathinones released over the years. Some people may argue mephedrone is superior to methamp. I guess it comes down to preferences but anyway, since methcathinone is so insanely easy to make and so cheap, smokable, can be IVd, snorted, whatever, makes it a very lucrative drug to sell, especially to the poor.

never tried methcathinone though :( but one day... i definitely wouldn't consider it the poor man's meth lol, it's not that hard to make methamp either.
