Does Famotidine interact with Xanax XR (alprazolam)

Hello, I am prescribed 2mg xanax xr in the morning. I would still like to make it last longer. I know that Cimetidine can do this. What about famotidine? Just curious since I'm on my way to the store to get Cimetidine.
Also how long before I take my xanax should I take the cimetidine? Its xanax xr though so do you think if I took it a couple hours after I take my xanax it would do the trick? Or if I take it with it? Because I wake up, take my meds, then go to school so there's no way I could take it forty five minutes before my xanax dose. Also im on lyrica, dexedrine, phenibut and I take diphenhydramine and melatonin for sleep. Would it react with any of these?

Update: something came up and I wasn't able to get the cimetidine. I'm stuck with famotidine. So if anyone knows if it interacts with alprazolam plz lemme know. I researched onna couple interaction checkers and it said that cimetidine does interact with alprazolam but that famotidine does not.

no it doesn't work nearly as well IMO, I've tried it several times. Tagamet is the way my friend, if you want to potentiate. However, I'm fairly certain Cimitidine inhibits the metabolization of amphetamines as well so be careful. If you want to try and potentiate benzo's DXM (dextromethorphan), found in Robutussin DM and many other products potentiates benzo's, amphetamines AND Opiates, while at the same time it helps to reduce tolerance. I've used it to some success and do believe that NMDA antagonists potentiate drugs that fit into those classes, as I notice obviously diminished effects if I take amphetamines on a day when I've skipped my methadone (which also is and NMDA antagonist as well as an opioid.

you would need a lot of cimetidine, otc cimetidine is labeled something like max 400mg a day....
you'd need RX doses, and beyond,
Cimetidine would cause a bit of an issue with Lyrica by the way, also with diphenhydramine, and would also require a dose adjustment for melatonin in this case ...don't know how much you take but if it's 5-ish instead of 0.3ish, somnolence would be insane. Have you TRIED high dose cimetidine in this blend you have going here?

ALSO - just a small reminder....you're begging to grow breasts you know. High dose chronic admin of cimetidine = gynecomastia and related fun conditions of the hormonal sort. And then everything there makes the lyrica yet more lyrical so you should give it a thought. Also cimetidine can cause weird stuff in the head in general....in low and high doses...

Take enough famotidine and it's like an OTC cimetidine dose, but not quite. So if you want the real deal go for the gold....but be careful, don't forget about the voluminous and luscious breasts you might acquire.

what-if any- negative consequences of taking tagamet (with my meds or in general) to potentiate the xanax?

Hm, that's interesting about Cimetidine. I rarely use it, but when I do 4-600mg does seem to potentiate and lengthen the effects of xanax as well as Amphetamines for me. The Cimitedine pills I get are 200mg each but there's quite a few that come in the box.

Also, I searched the web for quite some time and came to the conclusion that Pregabalin really wasn't effected all that much by Tagamet.

Anyway, I only use potentiators when I'm running low on benzo's/amps etc..as I don't want to end up raising my tolerance when I've found a dose that suits me well. I also am always curious as to why some people get the Extended Release Formula of Xanax/Alprazolam?? Why don't you just switch to Diazepam or Clonazepam? That way you'd get a benzo that doesn't have an XR formula but still lasts much longer.

I. Would highly consider switching to another benzo, probably valium because I hate klonopin. But as you can see in the link I postd to my other thread, I was curious about these different benzos. I want to make sure before I make a decision to switch.
