Hi!

I don't have a drug problem or anything like that - BUT, I think I'm addicted to sweets! Addicted to sugar!

I've tried starting to lose some weight, and drop the carbohydrates from my diet... But I have terrible cravings for anything sweet! I'm thinking of candy, chocolate, fruits (well these aren't too bad, I think!), sodas, cereals, pudding (god, I love pudding!), yoghurt - and stuff like that. I'm actually feeling miserable if I don't get my daily share of sweets.

Now, I'd like to ask other people in the same situation: how did you manage to kick the sweets? I think that's the biggest drawback I have when losing weight - I crave sweets. I've been eating tuna, and all sorts of fish - but they are salty. Next I'm probably trying to get used to eating vegetables, like salad, carrots, paprika, corn, peas... - maybe that would bring something close to tasting sweet in my diet.

Soo... let's kick the sugar! =D

But sweets are just so good, why stop <3

No but seriously, one thing that helped me stop snacking on 'em all the time was to have a meal every time I had a craving. I know it's not really about being hungry but if you're full to burst chances are you won't be wanting sweets anymore. It's just a matter of breaking the habit, and even by eating a whole meal you're much less likely to gulf down hundreds (or thousands) of calories without noticing. It works, I haven't had a proper craving for sweets in months and I've lost plenty of weight. Although admittedly most of that is due to other addictions 8)

Good luck!

Strong stimulants are also effective, but heroin ftmfw when it comes to weightloss <3

I used to eat literally nothing but sweet stuff when I was on the scag. Ice cream, chocolate bars and more ice cream mostly. Must've been packing in a shitload of "bad" calories everyday but weight only went down, down, down. If it weren't for one or two non-diet related lil issues with heroin addiction it really would be a major win-win scenario for the sweet lover with waist issues =D

I just lost me sweet tooth when I gave up the gear. Ended up putting on weight due to not having to source gear 24/7 anymore. And drinking booze. And eating shit food. But not sweet food.

So, erm, ya. Get addicted to heroin, eat as much sweet stuff as you like, stop taking heroin. That pretty much sums up my only real advice.

You can cook with coconut milk which gives a sweet taste and good base for a lot of dishes - Sugar Free jelly is another one to make pots of and keep in your fridge for when your craving something really sweet.

Also stewing /baking / grilling fruits can help bring out their natural sugars and make them taste even sweeter.

Here is a tip to lose weight, No pain no game. 1200 calories a day deal with it

Thats what i did to lose 2 and a half stone in no time didn't even do any exercise other then walk, i weigh 10 and a half stone and don't eat beyond my means anymore.

Serious response: I eat a lot of crappy sweet things. Being stoned all the time doesn't help. So far I am managing not to gain weight, but I know it's only a matter of time now!

So I am trying to eat more fruit, and less fattening rubbish. It's hard...I'd say try and eat fruit, and have honey, fruit juice (but not large amounts) to get your sweet kick. I eat a small bowl of muesli with added sultanas and semi skimmed milk, as a snack.

Better than eating chocolate bars, at least!

Sugar is weirdly addictive, sets me off on a right binge eating sometimes, triggered it over christmas a few years ago. having a couple spaced out days of fasting is good for keeping weight under control. mainly my diet is really good but find myself binge eating sometimes, mainly weekends

I eat junk aswell i dont have a diet as such, i just dont over eat and thats the main reason people gain weight. You know when your eating too much just like you know when your doing too much drugs you just have to act on your instincts

Sugar addiction is self-reinforcing. Quitting carbs can be difficult, but the sugar cravings should subside after a few days. Research ketogenic diets. You could use artificial sweeteners if you really have to.

Artificially-sweetened stuff is probably your best bet for losing weight. I don't think it tastes the same at all but apparently you get used to it

There are a couple studies now which show that you actually consume more calories if you ingest artificial sweeteners. The mouth/brain tastes a sweet sensation, but no actual sugar is available to produce energy. So you eat more later to make up for it.

Go figure.

isnt aspartame ment to be really bad for us or something? i remember some controversy over it

I try and avoid it. Seems to be the 'worse' out of all the sweeteners from what I can see.

Upon ingestion, aspartame breaks down into residual components, including aspartic acid, phenylalanine, methanol,[46] in ratio of 4:5:1 by mass[47] and further breakdown products including formaldehyde[48] and formic acid.

Now regardless of whether some fruit juices have been found with a higher methanol level. It does still break down into 5 bullshit chemical byproducts... all of which seem to be poisonous or detrimental in some way. I'd just rather (easily) avoid it, to be on the safe side.

I try to eat natural sugary juice drinks, not diet or low sugar drinks (sweetener containing ones.) I'd always choose natural stuff other diet/artificial sweetened foods. :)

Too right, i dunno how people can drink sugary drinks all day, energy drinks etc, the amount of sugar in them is shocking

Get a job asa postman and develop a penchant for stims.

You'll be as fit as a butcher's dog in no time, and be able to eat as much shit as you could wish for.
