I managed to do all sorts of drugs for over 15 years without resorting to needles, and then somewhat recently decided to try IV. I was awfully paranoid about it which turned out pretty well. Watched people do the deed many times and I knew I could do better if I paid attention to Bluelight and other reliable information sources. So, once I got my kit together (sterile water, filters, sterile mixing cups, compresses, homemade tourniquet, flexible bandages, isopropyl alcohol in both swabs and a bottle, etc.) I finally gave it a go.

The first few times were pretty much fumbling in the dark, aiming for the most prominent veins in my arms and missing a lot. At worst, the whole area around the inside of my elbow was bright red due to all the alcohol wasted to germ phobia, and bruised because of not applying pressure afterwards. Since then, my technique has somewhat improved. I still refuse to IV anything that hasn't gone through at least a Sterifilt-grade filter and not even that is enough sometimes. Nowadays I'm a somewhat full time IV user. Most of my forearm veins are quite invisible and I've been looking for ways to locate them, as some of the more common ones have clearly suffered damage. It's like sticking the needle through a sheet of paper both when piercing the skin and when finally landing in the vein. There's a barely audible *snap* sound when the needle passes through. And this is only after less than a year.

But thanks to HR, I have a very sterile process. I use a different needle for drawing water from an ampule (which I swipe with alcohol every time) than I do for injecting. I waste a lot of needles and syringes, but I don't really care since that gives me a 99% assurance that they are clean. Besides, both combined cost in the region of 10-20e/100pcs. Not to mention the needle exchange gives me new ones for those. I use 30g needles when possible, but those can't be replaced at the exchange. Smallest they have is 29g, which is just fine. 30g causes a lot of friction in the plunger, but you get used to it.

I've never had an abscess, nor an infection as far as I can tell. The only damage I have sustained from IV use is tough skin around popular injection sites. So, thanks for all the guides and responses to my silly questions. I am in far better health now had it not been for the availability of good HR information.

Something I've found very useful is Aqualan-A - it's a moisturizing lotion. It seems to get rid of the skin damage caused by alcohol when applied to injection sites.

If there was another RoA with even nearly the same bio-availability and fast onset, I might switch over. For now, I don't see any huge harm in needles. I smoke, after all. That feels more dangerous.

Hadnt shot heroin in like 4 years and did a few weeks ago because i got a free half g and the house i was at had a supply of cclean rigs so i was like fuck it can i grab one? The methadone pretty much blocked it but i did get a slight rush, too bad it was shit dope, shit dope for bmore standards! The kid said he had it for a long time plus i practically pulled him from an od, no. Narcan just a sturnum rub and juice but it did the job. Sucks the dope was crappy considering i hadnt shot in years. I think he cut it w xanax or something bc it was gunky, did a cold shot as always and was a ton of stuff left over. Gross.

Shooting dope on methadone is always weird, you get that itchy pins and needles, histamine release feeling without the euphoria! even if you do enough to cut through the 'done, it's kind of like you just end up high an hour later like you ate some pills....

Yea, from what i understand fent is one of the few opioids that can cut thru the done, sounds dangerous tho. But yea, very anti climatic. Strangely tho i felt it more than when i was on sub maint and would shoot, would feel nothing at all. I guess bc they are in diff classes and how potent fent is it can just blast its way thru the blockade

Unfortunately I'm in the same boat, Cap. After this long, there's nothing that would make me switch ROA's, even if I have to dig around for battered veins for hours, I'll remain a needle fiend. :\

I can do IM bupe and still be OK for the most part. I'm giving the IM route another go, hoping that I adjust to it and stay on it. I have been on IM bupe for long enough in the past to know I can do it.

Yeah.

I was doing a course of steds. Having needles around/going to the exchange and also having a smack habit (smoked) led me to try injecting it.
I did smoke gear after that but you can't replicate the rush of heroin and coke in the same pin with any other ROA.

I got hooked on the needle after that and ruined a few good veins shooting stupid things like dalmane and MDPV. Wouldn't dream of doing that stupid shit now.

I always thought it was a myth that you could get addicted to the act of injecting. Unfortunately it's true, and not only that..when I have a choice between routes of administration, I instantly think of bioavailability and usually reach for the needle. That wouldn't be such a big problem otherwise, but bad quality street drugs are a problem as is the fact that pharmaceutical pills come with a lot of binders and fillers. Decriminalization of the most problematic substances would do wonders for the health of people who inject. Imagine getting your opiates (or whatever) in an ampoule you know is 100% crap free.

Addiction to the needle is very real.

I just dont think i could ever bring myself to do something like that.. To each his own, certainly not passing judgement though.

Humans are habitual, so its honestly not that far fetched.
We get addicted to our drugs just as much as how we take them.
Sounds weird, but im addicted to snorting. I love it, i love the feeling/act/whatever lol

yes i used to inject heroin and cocaine
but now i don't inject anything and don't consider it anymore. (probably cuz i don't do coke or heroin anymore)

the only thing that may be tempting to inject is K... but i never done it so i don't know

Quoting myself on an old account from over 5 years ago. Damn this thread is still kicking huh?

Unfortunately I'm back on the IV. These days its mostly stimulant RC's and subutex. (Actually changed and forgot my old BL account password while tweaked on mephedrone/mdpv).

Fucking depressing how the needle has kept me under its spell. It's hard to forget the joy of prepping a shot, tying off, hitting, pushing down annnnnd whoooooosh!

So said a million other current IV drug users.. :\

Yep, i said it for years, and allways hated and felt quite frightened when i knew i had to have an injection at the Dr's, but i reached 18 + yrs old and was getting into Heroin, and had tried Crack, aswell as other various things, but only realy H and Coke n Crack that was able to Iv, and so after seeing a good friend who was experienced with injecting do it for a few weeks i wanted to try it, so we cooked up, i put my arm out to the side, i couldnt even look at it, but before i knew it i was experiencing it coming on, and after a couple of months i got in a bit deeper, and i went out and scored, went round my mates, no answer, so came back home and cooked up 1 bag ( As i carried my own kit right from the start ) and strapped my arm up and got my main line straight away, i remember my hand was shaking like mad, but after that i didnt have to share or buy my mate a bag everytime i wanted a boot ..

Yeah, I know what you mean, but trying to view all drug use rationally and without judgment made me reapproach my knee-jerk reaction to IV use. Then I get to reading accounts and it sound damned interesting, I was at that point of naiveté where I thought that HR practice could keep me from harm, and was pretty self-destructive anyway so I thought what the hell. I don't really use IVable drugs right now, but I get my hands on some needles sometimes, then I stick something that shouldn't be shot at all up in there just cause I want to shoot something.

The truth is, needles are like cigarettes. They do nothing good for you, but you just can't bring yourself to quit. I don't think anyone could have said anything to dissuade me from picking up either habit though.

I bang about 40 mg a day of Dillies. Don't try this unless you have a HUGE tolerance. It will kill the average peep.
