Bupe Best Way to Use Suboxone/Subutex to Detox

Okay...but do you get high from it? And l mean if someone really wants to quit often the smoking or needles are a huge part of the addiction ...to me anyways. Sublingual ROA...doesn't get me all excited.

^ yes but I have been on Suboxone for many years now, and it took at least most of a year to get to a point where I felt the buprenorphine give me a high (due to the time it takes your brain to recover from heroin tolerance and from the PAWS).

Other people I have met in real life also get a high from IV buprenorphine, and at least one of these people never was addicted to heroin.

When I was addicted to heroin I was snorting it, it lasts longer than IV heroin and with the powder I was getting, it was rather enjoyable/easy to snort powder. I am dependent on buprenorphine but I don't feel addicted to it as I have no desire to use too much of it.

Scenario:

Single High Dose: 24-36 hours after my last opiate dose, I took 8mg of Suboxone. That was the only dose that I took, and I experienced almost no withdrawal, other than 1 night of getting a little less sleep due to RLS, but that was it. This was after a 3 month heroin binge, so my tolerance was moderate. I have yet to see anybody mention this method, which is why I listed it first. My theory on why it works well is that the high dose with a long half-life allows the single dose to slowly leave your system, and since it's a single dose it avoids any of the peaks and troughs that come with multiple dosing.

Off the bat - awesome thread on rapid Suboxone detox techniques TommyBoy, nice work.

I attempted to go ct yesterday from a point-a-day habbit (h) which has been going on a little over a year. I lasted 36 hours and couldn't stand the RLS any longer while trying to sleep. Valium, Temaz and Cataprst were not helping either (which was odd)

I had 3 x 8mg suboxone strips on hand as a back up plan so broke one in half and found beautiful relief in 20mins. I had read this thread previously and found single dose option to be the best option for me IMHO. The problem is I only had 4mg, and in heinsight I probably should have had the whole 8mg - with a single dose plan in mind. So my options are, A) Ride out the 4mg and see how i go.. B) Re dose another 4mg tonight and don't look back..

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, option A or B, or hell throw C at me!

I guess as some background info, 2mg has held me for well over 24hours in the past.

Cheers,
Dim.

what I've seen in one rehab is they start you off on 8mg suboxone (it's always 8 seemingly regardless of opiates used, I went directly there after being detoxed and spending a week in a different treatment program so I had no business being on suboxone and they handed me a suboxone during the first med call) then the next day it's 16mg and the day after 24, then they bring you down in increments of 4mg a day iirc. interestingly no one complained of w/d. something about building up a large dose in your system seems to lessen withdrawal. there could be no real medical basis for this and it might be done to get the most amount of cash from peoples insurance as Florida rehabs are notoriously business savvy, albeit cleaner, more comfortable, better staff, better food, better accommodations, better everything if you're partial to people from New Jersey. There was one detox I went to in Ft. Lauderdale where if you said you were allergic to naloxone (which I always do) or pregnant you got tapered using Roxicodone.

I usually never paid attention to the sub doses, but this one stood out in my mind as being interesting,
I never really

I've never tried to use bupe for a quick detox.. but looking back in retrospect, it's what I wish I would have done from the start. Instead, I ended up on the shit for a very long time and getting off was so damn hard, I just started using dope again...

^ that is what I'm scared of, and why I'd rather be on Suboxone as long as I need to.

I don't think a quick taper would have worked for me though - although I'm hoping it does work for anyone who wants it to. :)

I can detox from h with as little as a half of an 8/2 sub. It's awesome in the effect that I get such little wd's that the entire detox period is painless for the most part....

The scary part is I know I can do this, which makes allowing myself to break the 2-3 day opiate rule almost not even listen to that rule.

This is my first post. I have been using 4 mg subs for a week plus couple bags of H. Want to stop the H and just do subs for about 3 days, then stop all so I can test clean when I go back to work in 3 days. I have 4 subs...8 mg. Best way to do this? I just want to be clean again from everything...please help.

Quick sub taper is the most painless way to detox...have done it several times with only one or two subs over four days and you ALMOST dont feel the Wd's at all. I am a total bitch about withdrawal...have done it so many times....yuk.

LOL me too! I had just one strip after a moderate binge and thus far seems to be the least painful. I did break it into three days though. And I also had maybe five Vicodens throughout just to calm my nerves.

So if I just do the subs do you think I will feel heroin wd since I have been using on top of the subs? My plan is to use the subs for 3 days, then off everything. Any advice?

usedtobe,

Dunno which formulation of subs you have but if you have the orange ones (pills or strips), DO NOT take any too soon after you get high the last time on H cuz the Naloxone will knock the Heroin right out of your receptors and bring you into Withdrawal real quick. If you have the white pills (which do not contain Nalaxone) then you can take those after you dont feel high anymore without incident. Different people have different metabolisms and so forth but I would recommend that you take 4mg first day...4mg second day....2mg the third day (only if you need it) and same for 4th day and so on. Remember...this drug has a long half life...24-36hrs so you really dont need to take it everyday. Its not just physical...its mental too. If you got a pretty good head on your shoulders then you wont even care about getting high when you start taking the subs.

If you want the best possible advice , you're going to have to be more specific about your use, e.g, how much H, time of last dose, ROA, and your basic availability of your subs..

Without knowing the details, we can only give you general advice, and my advice, first and foremost, DO NOT use anything on top of your subs, it's highly dangerous and defeats the purpose all together. If you use on top of the subs youre putting yourself at risk to od and you're going to have to start the process all over again . LET THE SUBOXONE DO IT'S JOB. get rid of the h, wait until you are in moderate W/D ( use the cows scale to determine your level of w/d), and administer 1mg of sub every hour until you feel better, you may only need the 1mg, everyone is unique and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. The general idea of administering that low of a dose is that it greatly decreases the chances of precipitated W/D. Also the reason you would want to wait at least an hour between doses is that subs can take up 2 hours to fully kick in.

I will say this though, you have the most important weapon in combating your addiction, and that is your desire to quit! some ppl detox out of necessity, and that's a relapse waiting to happen. Speaking from personal experience, tell your drug buddies your intentions of quiting or turn your phone off! I can't tell you how many times i've been well upon my way to detox and then i get that text message that ultimately leads to relapse!

Actually it's the buprenorphine that sends you into precipitated withdrawal when taken too soon after heroin, so both suboxone and subutex would cause it. The naloxone is pretty much pointless since it's not really active in the suboxone, and was just a marketing scheme to make the suboxone seem less likely to be abused.

it's dangerous to tell someone that naloxone is the culprit of pwd, because if someone has bup only medication they would think they would be in the clear, this is NOT true, bup causes pwd because of it's high affinity.

This why I suggest taking small doses of bup at a time. It decreases the chances of pwd and if you happen to take it too soon and go into pwd, the duration of the pwd caused by 1mg will be less than say 8mg of bup.

So I use about 3-4 bags of heroin a day. I have 1 1/2 subutex and 2 1/4 suboxone strips. 30 mg altogether. I just used 2 hours ago. What should I do?

Get rid of the H, you don't need it tempting you, wait until youre in moderate w/d, like I stated b4, use the cows scale to determine your level of w/d, you want to be at least at a 14 on the scale, a general rule of thumb is to wait at least 24 hrs with h, longer with other opioids such as methadone, anyways time should only be a guide, you want to take your sub based upon how you feel, not the amount of time since your last dose.
