Opioids Dealers - Drugs in mouth!?

I don't usually mess around on the street but I wanted to see what people thought of this. My buddy is in the same boat and he tried to score some black tar today. The city we live in has a pretty open drug market in certain areas. He found a dealer quickly but the dealer wouldn't sell to him I guess because he supposedly looked like a cop! So this bum nearby was kickin it and says he'd hook him up. The bum spit a tiny bag of tar out of his mouth.. like pretty much every one does in this town. Anyway, bum goes on to say he's dying of AIDS!
So my buddy basically treats this bag like the biohazard it is. Puts it in a shot glass of rubbing alcohol before unwrapping.. disinfects and washes his hands. The H in this town is packaged seemingly airtight (not balloons but several tight wrapped baggies) probably because all the dealers keep shit in their mouths, so doesn't seem like the H was contaminated. And the dude ended up smoking it anyway. Do you think there was any risk here for this guy to get HIV? He really only was exposed when he initially grabbed the bag.. and he was certain not to touch any other parts of his body and sanitize his hands ASAP.
Do you think there would be a risk if he banged it? I know most viruses like that die very quickly outside the body and there's probably almost non-existant risk in this situation, but it still would make me really uneasy! I really think the practice of dealers putting shit in their mouths like that is disgusting! Especially for drugs that most people actually inject!

Well the end user is not always the top priority of the distributor. At least he had the courtesy to tell you just how diseased he was. Ive been known to carry a bag in my mouth on the way out of a sketchy area. The thing is they are just trying not to go to jail so I dunno maybe find a more reliable phone connect.

Pretty sure aides is only transmitted through blood so unless the guy had open bleeding cuts in his mouth (a possibility) and your friend who picked it up somehow had the bag come im contact with his blood there should not be any risk of exposure to Aides...

There's no way you smoked aids btw.. Chances of a bum having bleeding gums is quite high though.. but the chances of that getting into an open wound of yours is very very small..

HIV & AIDS can be transmitted through blood (highest concentration), vaginal fluids, semen, breast milk, and potentially saliva (lowest concentration).

Even though saliva has the lowest chance of transmission why even take that chance, however small it may be. Smoking it would be safe because not only has the virus been exposed to oxygen, the heat required to smoke tar would kill whatever bit of the virus alive after exposure to the air.

Find a new dealer. Preferably one that is HIV free or at least doesn't carry their dope in body fluids.

I agree smoking the tar was the right move. I think shooting have left the chance, slight as it may be, of getting his blood in yours. But smoking rules out blood being transmitted into your blood stream directly. Just my opinion.

Who buys drugs from a bum to begin with? Get a real dealer. This might come as a surprise, but bums don';t always have the best product and pricing. And aids is not worth taking a hit of piano wax.

As I stated above it does not require blood to blood or semen to blood. Saliva of an infected person can also transmit the virus. If an infected person bit you, even if they didn't have an open sore or cut in their mouth, the virus can be transmitted. While the chances are significantly lower, the possibility is still there. Saliva to blood is a viable way for the virus to be passed.

My point is it's still risky to buy drugs from an HIV-carrying individual that carries drugs in their mouth. Smoking it would be the safest ROA considering there'd be virtually no way for the virus to transfer. But why even risk it? I would advise to not buy from an HIV-carrying person who carries dope in their mouth.

To ME, the risk far outweighs the reward. Why chance it? Even with a chance so small, if you got infected, you'd be kicking yourself for the rest of your somewhat shortened life.

(the chance of saliva to blood transfer is VERY VERY low but IS still a possibility. The conditions have to be perfect BUT, again, why risk it?)

Ive never really met hobos that were had the capital to sling dope. It must be someone elses shit and he just peddles it. Still usually you ask the bums to show you were the dealers are. The only time Ive heard of bums serving shit is through a hole in the wall in big cities. Like some places you can buy crack through holes in brick walls and its usually a hobo chained to a pipe on the other side.

Down south, at least where I was, they always sell crack in little flat un-bagged pieces, about the thickness of a stick of gum...

In a lot of places, it comes in plastic, and it's very common for dealers to keep it in their mouths and just spit out whatever they're gonna sell to you....It's pretty nasty, but really the only way to do it on a hot block that the police know it's being sold on.....

BTH, IME, usually comes folded in pieces of shopping bag(not completely sealed) or in plastic one layer and then tied in a balloon....some people commonly keep the balloons in their mouth.....

On the East coast, if I buy crack that was in somebodys mouth, I won't put it into my mouth unless I'm getting pulled over or something like that....

I usually get dope bagged in plastic, but dope dealers don't do the mouth thing as often as crack dealers.....In fact I can't really think of ever getting dope that somebody had in their mouth, although I always keep it in my mouth!

As far as getting AIDS goes....if somebody told me they had AIDS and spit a bag out of there mouth, I'd be a little freaked out too....but the chances of contracting it from a bag that was in someone's mouth are infintesimally small.....Still, if somebody straight up TOLD ME they had AIDS, ahhh IDK....

No it can't, HIV is not transmissible through saliva, the spit would have to have blood in it. You must be mistaken because even your source, AIDS Arms, says on their website:

You can't get AIDS from:
Coughing, sneezing, sharing household items, swimming in the same pool as someone with HIV, mosquito bites, toilet seats, telephones, sweat, saliva or tears.

New York Department of Health on the subject:

HIV is spread when infected blood, semen, vaginal fluids, or breast milk gets into the bloodstream of another person through:
- direct entry into a blood vessel;
- mucous linings, such as the vagina, rectum, penis, mouth, eyes, or nose; or
- a break in the skin.
- HIV is not spread through saliva (spit).

I am surprised that most people are being so reactive about this. If the bag was sealed, triple-bagged and the guy disinfected it and his hands it is EXTREMELY unlikely (in fact I'd say impossible in the situation described) that he will contract HIV. Most dealers where I live keep balloons/baggies in their mouths and the reality is that you should assume that ANYONE could have HIV, HEP-C or another contagious illness. Yes it's creepy to think about when someone tells you they have AIDS and then gives you a balloon that was just in their mouth, but you are taking this risk anytime you get anything that has been in anyone's mouth (or kiss someone for that matter - and even that would be a higher risk than the OP's particular situation) and the risk is very low. HIV is not THAT easy to catch. Drug users get it from sharing syringes with contaminated blood in them.

Ethyl alcohol at a concentration of 60%-80% has been demonstrated to inactivate the HIV virus. In addition, sufficient heat also kills HIV.

I would not stress over this, I have done the same thing myself when I was a junkie. It's psychologically creepy, yes, but as BlueHues said, the chances of contracting HIV from a bag that was in someone's mouth are infinitesimally small, and I would go so far as to say non-existant given the precautions the person in this case took and the ROA.

Alot of people dont seem to understand everytime they have unprotected sex or share needles the other person could have aids or hep. I had an ex gf use a needle after me and than ask me if she could get anything that way. She was actually training to work in the health industry. After I stopped laughing I said "If I got aids, you got it, if I got the flu, you got it, if Im coming down with a cold, your coming down with a cold." Shes says "but you dont got nothing, right?" Lucky for her I didnt. I proceeded to fuck with her and tell her its been a while since I had a test and kinda joked about well if I didnt use a condom with you who else did I fuck raw. But in all seriousness I got tested and I took a clean blood test as a new lease on life and have used condoms and never shared gear since than. I seriously advise people to never share rigs, spoons, body fluids, or fuck without a condom. Its better to be safe than sorry. If you want to have unprotected sex go get tested with your gf or bf.

^Yeah, but that's not what we're talking about here...It's important to know the facts about how you actually can contract certain viruses and how certain unclean practices can lead to bacterial infections, etc....

It's just as important for people to know what's NOT likely to cause infection....and casual contact with saliva through kissing, or a bag of drugs with saliva on it won't get you infected with HIV...

Yeah my fault a bit off subject. I just wanted to add some HR stuff. Saliva is not a vehicle for HIV transmission. It is very unlikely the OP has anything to worry about, despite how nasty that shit is. I doubt he would get aids from making out with that bum to be honest. But I digress, it is common practice these days to mouth dope these days. The war on drugs just makes people more careful and resourceful. At least you didnt get dope from a prison wallet.
