New information has been released about a fatal stabbing on the University of Toledo's campus back in December.

Josiah Galat, 20, was found stabbed to death behind the International House. Erik Littleton, 19, was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries.

According to toxicology results, Galat tested positive for 25i, a synthetic hallucinogenic.

"It's a designer drug," UT Police Chief Jeff Newton said. "It's like a synthetic LSD type drug."

Police tell 13abc it can cause violent behavior, strong hallucinations, even organ failure. New says 25i likely contributed to what happened in the stairwell of the International House.

Police believe the drug was a contributing factor in the altercation.

"We'll look at it as part of the investigation," Newton said. "This will be an important piece and we'll see where it goes."

But there still is some concern. Designer drugs like this are very dangerous and the effects vary from person to person. Newton along with other students don't want to see it on campus.

"It's probably one of those things that could become a big issue," UT Freshman Breiah Hoskins said.

Sophomore Nice Grzybowski agrees saying, "if students are taking it here that's not safe, especially at night."

The investigation is still ongoing.

There is no word on whether Littleton had the drug in his system as well.

Not sure if this was posted or not.

The kid that was killed, was tripping on some blotter that was laid by someone I personally know. The group of idiots that sell these blotters, some say is LSD. They damn well know its 25i.

This type of crap irritates the FUCK out of me. Poor kid lost his life because of it.

The people with the real LSD in the area now have to lay low because narc officers are all over the scene out here now. Its killing the vibes. All thanks to money hungry junkies.

Seems like they took the article down.
I'm not sure if there was an article, but the video of the local news story is up at the link. As I write this there are seven threads on the first page of this sub-forum concerned with either tragedies involving NBOMes or uncertainties about how to use them. I personally have enjoyed 25C and 25I and think they can result in beautiful, prolific, life-affirming experiences if carefully and considerately measured using a milligram scale in concert with liquid measurement, along with the application of simple math, and titration dosing with every new batch in such a way that users err on the side of caution. However, the simple fact is that when anybody with a credit card can buy them the result is inevitably undisciplined use by the ignorant who, even if they do read harm reduction advice, will dismiss words of caution in order to "get high now" because it's not fun to think carefully or be patient and meticulous. And they die, or they trust the word of ignorant dealers, and the results inspire fear in others who demand retribution, and it all generally attracts a lot of attention. As simple as the math is, being able to do it on paper as evidenced by junior high level tests does not necessarily translate to having the intelligence or sense of responsibility to apply it in novel situations like working with physical powders in different mediums.

As much as it pains me to say, vendors need to stop offering NBOMes to just anybody. Yes, you can make an immense profit by cheaply chemically manipulating 2C-X drugs in order to synthesize NBOMes that offer an order of magnitude more doses per milligram for little additional cost then inflating the price according to a "milligrams per getting them high" rationale, but you're killing your long term profits and threatening your own personal future by giving law enforcement reasons to hunt you down and arrest you while inviting strong arm tactics to limit access to the gray market by consumers everywhere by authorities. The NBOMes are full agonists that maximize the response of the receptor systems they act on at tiny amounts difficult to measure conveniently and easily -- and acting according to convenience is part of universal human nature. In every class of recreational drug, these facts translate to extreme physiological responses that are dangerous and prone to measurement error. They are also sold as LSD, a drug with a fairly linear dose response curve, whereas NBOMe's curve is dangerously steep. Make people prove they understand math and its thoughtful and disciplined application to dealing with small physical quantities before you sell, for your own good. If you focus your research and development on less potent partial agonists you will be able to keep far more of your customers alive and happy and stay in this game longer while making far more money than if you take reckless risks on the sort of short term gains drugs like NBOMes offer. Are you men of discipline and strategy or dipshit thug cannon fodder?

Someone stabbed someone while they were on 25i. Don't really know what this has to do with 25i's safety profile... at all... it's happened on a lot of drugs. Probably LSD. People are fucked up. Whatever.

I'm not trying to trivialize the physical dangers of 25i. But I don't see what this news report has to do with that.

edit: How did the stab victim "lose his life" because he was on 25i? He just got stabbed, dude.

Who knows mang, while I think most media outlets might say something like "Today a man stabbed another in a drunken rage...." but they surely wouldn't say "Due to ethanol....we have a lost another life today!"if someone stabbed someone when they were drunk. Its just the bullshit of todays world where we blame everything but the one who is truly at fault. Responsibility reflection seems to have become some sort of sport now a days. I get that maybe someone on a ton of drugs is more liable to make a disastrous decision but it doesn't mean they couldn't have taken a second to think about it and what sort of outcome their actions will have. I usually just somewhat assume that the people who end up doing these things must have poor impulse control sober, let alone on chemicals or were dosed with an extreme amount. I also wish there was more of a story here besides "Droogs and someone got stabbed at UOT", like was there a struggle or something, words exchanged, or was the guy on 25I just hiding in the stairwell waiting for someone to stab? All I can gather is two kids were stabbed, one died. Was there a third person who was the stabber or did these guys somehow just end up stabbing each other? If it was those two stabbing each other....WTF? At first I thought maybe the story was about some paranoid kid totally fucked on 25I who maybe was hiding/standing around in the hallway and was either spooked or was just freaking out so badly he ended up stabbing them. IDK its just a weirdddd story, like did they both have knives, was one of them stabbed then the other one retrieved the knife and stabbed his friend/acquaintance? Also what are these guys? Friends that took a trip together that just ended badly or was it some weird coincidence like they just both happened to be tripping on 25I and met(though they didn't note whether the other kid had taken it). Just terrible reporting, clearly their sole aim is to drag 25I through the mud and not report what actually took place, considering one person is still living, they should have the entire story by now. Either way unless the guy on 25I was the aggressor, no reason to kill 'em though I understand people losing their shit on psychedelics is a truly disturbing thing to witness, especially if its something you had no idea about beforehand.... Just wish we had the actual story instead of an expose on 25I.

Oh man and don't even get me started on that video, god damn that was sad, "synthetic LSD"? As well as this quote that clearly came from an informed person who understands that 25I taken at night changes its pharmacology drastically making it dangerous.... "if students are taking it here that's not safe, especially at night.".

Fine idea psood, its just most vendors would only care about one thing and thats potentially bringing LEO attention to the chems/them like you stated. Plus it would be pretty hard to truly authentic who gets these chems and who isn't qualified. I mean what would the criteria be, showing a photo on a sub mg scale or something of the like? In my mind the idea is good but at the same time in a tiny tiny manner a bit pointless as yes it would save it from getting into stupid hands easier but the have the term evil genius for a reason. Catch my drift? I'm sure some of even the allowed buyers would probably churn them out in the street. I guess i'm simply tired of seeing people patch up the tire instead of actually buying a new tire and fixing the problem all together, or hell at least taking the chance! Oh and I doubt some vendors even care it brings attention to the chemicals as I bet a lot of them are highly short sighted as long as they can't make in a month what most make in a year or more, they keep doing things exactly the same unfortunately....least thats my belief.

I'm not trying to demonize 25I-NBOMe, but seriously, I've seen people completely lose their minds on it. I've done it at least 10 times and been fine, but it certainly can result in a psychotic break, trust me, I've seen it, it's not pretty. This stuff can be damn scary.

I can speak from personal experience. I obtained 5 blotters sold as lsd and turned out to be NBOMe. I took all 5 like a dumb ass and a friend took 4. I litrerly lost my fucking mind and broke down a door..yea needless to say I spent the rest of the night face down in the dirt grasping it as I died. Absoultly horrible experience that I never wish to repeat.

This is tragic and sad, something needs to change this is ridiculous I hope no blue lighters support the research behind Nbome, I don't care what science, reports, whatever there may be. I also think Nbome threads should be shunned upon, never encouraged. I don't care what kind of response I get to this. Some chemicals are better left untouched, we are not doing gods work. I hate all Nbome threads, my heart is with those dudes who had no idea they were doing something wrong, no harm reduction is going to help these chemicals. ISH. Lets do the right thing people.

Its the shitty dealers that are the problem and I know for a fact a lot of them creep around bluelight. The problems from the mephedrone days were amateur to the epidemic we have on our hands now.

Everyone has an opinion if you want to respond to Nbome threads and give advice for people taking the substance that is your right no one can stop you, however I think it would be effective to tell everyone starting Nbome threads the dangers and show them all the recent happenings with the drug and warn them about consumption.

I don't encourage laypeople to use NBOMe compounds. On the other hand, the use of these materials is perfectly legitimate inside research laboratories, as much valuable data regarding the brain can be gathered (witness David Nichols, et al. at Purdue University, to give just one example). Because of that, I wholly disagree with your suggestion that Bluelighters not support further bona fide research into these useful chemicals. Such a suggestion is not only counterproductive, but silly.

"It's the shitty dealers that are the problem..." Exactly. The rest of that paragraph evinces some hysteria and speculation though, so I won't go there.

As for your parting thoughts, while I agree that people should be aware of the dangers related to NBOMe's, I believe that your proposition to post warnings on new NBOMe threads amounts to little more than encouraging intolerant fanatics to derail said threads. If you or others feel that a warning is in order, please do so via PM.

I posted this somewhere else but I'd like to add that I have much experience with many psychedelics and 25i is the only one to ever make me have violent psychotic outbursts (biting/choking people). It's a huge thing in my town an I strongly discourage it's use, at least until there's legit research on it.

Very good insights people...

I learned that the kid tripping on 25i was acting crazy before the stabbing, running around outside half naked and just causing a huge ruckus around campus.

So I mean, in a way, the drug DID have something to do with the stabbing, as much as you want to think it didn't.

Err, I may have missed how NBOMe chemicals are dangerous. :o I was planning on taking some 2cd-nbome this weekend (tried it once before with very calming, relaxing, euphoric results).

IME (and this is just my opinion), they're not really any more dangerous than LSD.

If you take a few hundred micrograms (>500) to several milligrams of LSD you will probably act pretty batshit. If you aspirated your own vomit, or ran naked through the street or whatever, woudn't suprise me.

You just have to respect the shit. Don't take 4 tabs if its your first time trying supposed LSD. Dont snort lines of it. Dont handle it without a good scale. Dont do liquid measurement if you can't do division, or your only measuring tools are teaspoons and teacups.

Remember, people on LSD did crazy stuff like jump out windows (even people on LSA/HBWR have decided to defenestrate themselves too!), and in some cases overdoses cause severe psychological damage, vasoconstriction, outright reckless behaviour, etc... it's not like acid is 100% safe and NBOMes are totally toxic.

Man, this NBOMe business is getting contentious, isn't it?

I'm torn between thumbing my nose at the authorities regardless of the risks, & calling for these compounds to be banned or for the Psychedelic community to distance themselves from these compounds.
