I picked it up all innocently thinking it was shower gel (who uses conditioner anyway?) and started scrubbing away, lathering up the the ol' coin purse.

BAM.

Instant regret. Felt like a snowman was cupping by balls and wouldn't let go.

I love the Lavender one, it's brilliant, it smells so good. I was so happy to find them in Melbourne last autumn, it's one of those consumer goods I really miss from the UK, they don't sell them here.

Do you have a rash or something?

Tea tree essential oil does burn when it comes into contact with open wounds, so it's normal that would burn if you have a rash or a skin infection.

It would also hurt in the eyes.

I use their shower gels, to wash my hair. Soap for the body. Go through the stuff FAR too fast if you're not conservative (small c) with it. That's shower gel generally, I find it ridiculously wasteful. But, hey, that's just me being Traditional Working Class
