Clonazepam versus Alprazolam (Xanax)

Are the side effects of the two benzos the same when taken in the same dosages?
For example, If one takes 0.5mg of Clonazepam, would the effects equal to 0.5mg of Xanax or Clonazepam is more potent than Xanax?

All i know, is that Xanax effects have a rapid onset of action and also Xanax is a fast acting benzo compared to Clonazepam.

But would 0.5mg of the two benzos be equal in effects?

BTW - there was a posting on the comparision of benzo dosages and effects and someone posted a chart, but I cannot recall.
Does anyone have the link?

Xanax is slightly more potent actually.

Klonopin (Clonazepam), if it works for you, is great for maintenance of anxiety, while Xanax (alprazolam) better for panic attacks/rescue med...

Xanax will also have a more harsh w/d, but it will come on faster and last half the time of the clonazepam w/d...

and no...equivalent benzo dosing will not equate to equal effects...each benzo hits the receptor in a different way...

for example...I can sleep like a baby on 2mg of ProSom (estazolam) (equal to 2/3mg of Xanax), while I was still having panic attacks while on 4mg of xanax (alprazolam) daily...

edit: you will receive different effects from dosing .5mg of xanax (alprazolam) vs. .5mg of klonopin (clonazepam)...at least in my experience...

clonazepam is a lot more subtle and last a lot longer...alprazolam is quick and punches you in the face...

in case you read the above, I edited it a few times...

Also...just remember that benzo w/d is considered worse than a moderate heroin w/d (and to some, any w/d)...the only thing I can think of that's worse is an alcohol/barbiturate w/d, and you don't want any part of that, trust me lol...

Klonopin is like a long rainbow in how it works and peaks. Xanax is like a jagged mountain in how it peaks. very fast and very short. klonopin long and drawn out.
 
To all great respect, I think opioid WDs are the worst. I have been through it. I was hooked on Norcos taking sometimes 40mg pills per day.
I got these feelings of pins and needles on my muscles and skins, very derpessed, crying and etc....

When Im off Xanax for 2 weeks, I usually feel emptiness with mild depression, but nothing worse. Been taking 1mg Xanax per day for 1 yr now for my social phobia and for my time to time explosive outbursts.

I took Kpins before and did not help at all.

For me Clonazepam has never worked at all in the slightest... And it's impossible to say for sure that Opiate withdrawal is worse than Benzo withdrawal. All I know is that they are both hell!! Especially when using ridiculous doses like 400mg Oxy and thousands of mg of Diazepam/ *insert other Benzo* in a 24-36 hour period every weekend and then quitting cold turkey.

I've been there and it is not nice.
 
Clonazepam doesn't work for me either...

and to the person saying opioid w/d is the worst...you've never gotten yourself physically dependent to your xanax...

I've gone through clonazepam and buprenorphine withdrawals, and the 4mg/day clonaz w/d was the worst...I was having to take a load of dxm, followed by seroquel to knock me out when the dissociation became too much...
 
Interesting...Because I thought Schedule 4 meds like benzos are less addictive than the Schedule 2 and 3 meds (like Oxys or Vicodin)
 
I'm not gonna touch the CSA of 1971 with a 10 foot pole lol...
 
IME, Xanax is more effective in the treatment of anxiety. Klonopin caused weird side effects while taking them (rebound anxiety, personality changes, & professional/personal issues) and annoying withdrawals when I stopped (pain, sleeplessness, anxiety, and extreme irritability). Xanax did not have these side effects or withdrawals (NOTE: I keep my doses around .5mg-2mg/day - never higher and I usually stay at 1mg or less/day). For my needs, Xanax hands down does a better job.
 
when i was ffirst introduced to benzos in 2008 by my suboxone doctor, i was complaining of anxiey and how i feel i may benefit from a benzo. He told me"feel to pick one of my choice, they're all just as addictive anyways." so me being nieve and only hearing of vaium, i decided to go on 5mg 3x a day along with my suboxone, i been clean off benzos were 5 months at this time, boy i got such a great buzz/euphoria off of 10mg, it was comparale to a nice nice xanax buzz but smooother, problem is valium half life so long you lose that "magic". i switched to xanax after that, i was on 0.5mg 3x daily, on top of that my dad was on 120 xanax brs a month, s o he would leave me 1 bar and a half everyday, it got th the point here i was ust taking the xanax to feel normal and to avoid feeling panic/axiety/withdrawl, as with any benzo, if u take it consistantly , it builds up in ur system for over time, causing tolerance giving you know anxity relief, i was eating up to 8-10 barsa a day. when i went to jail, i didnt think there was gonna be a WD, my god i was hallucxinatin, had to go to the pysch ward, finally i just gave klonopin a chance..at first it didnt do squat for me (maybe i was ezxxpecting a buzz) i noticed over a week my mood ans anxiety was leveled out an it helped muchh better then any other benzo! klonopin is th best IMO, i believe 1mg clonazepam = 1 mg aprolazam
