Morailty, vegetarian/veganism, and psychoactive drugs

Why are plants any less alive than animals? A large tree's root system is very much like the synaptic connections of an animals brain. The symbiotic relationships of plants in a large garden is complex and just as spectacular as any animal community. If you draw the line at killing living creatures then you must not eat any plants of fungus and you will soon starve to death. Not to mention be riddled with parasitic and fungal infections.

^there's people on that trip too! Certain practitioners of Jainism wear face-masks to avoid inhaling certain "whatever the fuck gets filtered out"....

For me, it's partially about killing things to a point, but more about the actual results of lowering your meat intake....so basically, for me, it's more shallow than spiritual!

I don't have a problem with killing animals for their meat! I do have a problem with mass slaughtering cattle and raising them in a way that's pretty much torture! It just goes against how I feel other living beings should be treated.....I have pets, they're animals.....Cows are pretty chill animals.....They're a great source of meat, but does the US need a fast food joint pushing beef on literally every corner? I dont think so.....

Honestly, if I could go without eating I would. In a way I do. I fast often, so when I eat it feels like I am eating only for pleasure, and not because I 'have' to; I.E. live.

I agree with bluehues, I feel the same way as I feel kind of sick to my stomach when I see people eating tons of meat, and especially greasy meat.

Anyways, to each his own. I can only say that through personal experience I have found a non-meat life style to be much more fulfilling than my life before. I have gone through the phases of eating meat-not eating meat- eating- meat, etc... but I have finally stuck with not eating meat for nearly 2 years now and I feel better than I ever have. There are just too many benefits that come along with not eating meat, and I can get everything I need that meat supposedly provides, from plants.

There will always be naysayers, but in my world that is their problem. In some lifetime they will learn what is harmonically resonate with the earth and their own bodies, and I will tell you that the slaughter of innocent animals and the swallowing/consuming of their life force (blood) is really not that answer to moving our planet into a more sustainable future.

What makes them so innocent? Loads of animals eat other animals. I agree with the mass/corporate farming practices being stupid - it is definitely time for a renaissance in farming (both meat and veg), just for the better quality of food for us.

Separating yourself from the process of life and death is just another step in the wrong way away from nature. I so detest moralistic preaching.

1. Agree that the way animals are raised these times its unacceptable

2. Becose raising them humanely cost too much

3. Becose world elite stole everything, and we,their human disposable resource is easier to farm on cheap shit

4. We didnt developed big brain eating soy, people that dont eat milk, eggs, fish or meat are retarded clueless selfruining hipsters that should have pay double for health insurance like obese people should

Homo Sappiens Sappiens are meat eaters, didnt evolved over ice age eating letuce..... but rather Mammoth BBQ

Meat is tastiest food for our tongues for good reason, all the complete protein and fat power our bodies better than salad

They lack the thinking capacity of the divine creation (human body/mind).

Animals that eat plants are peaceful, animals that are carnivorous are murderous. Same goes with the human psyche. Eating animals puts one into a lower, murderous frame of mind. As opposed to a peaceful, higher state of mind.

Sorry but that it total rubbish. Firstly not having a thinking capacity doesn't make something less "divine", infact I think most newborns and autistic children are closer to "god" than 99% of adult humans because they're not so preoccupied with thinking/thinking nonsense. And second, why do you assume that eating plants is not murderous compared to eating animals? You've proven that animals have a soul/conscience/whatever and that plants are just green mush I assume?

In the developed world, there's no longer any justification for killing animals for food - we can live long and healthy lives without them. The only reason we have left is that we like how they taste, which makes us immoral and cruel. I'm afraid that's all there is to it. 8) I've heard all the poor reasons again and again and again, but they no longer have any substantial foundation or meaning in the 21st century.

^ Is there a great source of B12 you can think of that does not come from animals?

I get my b12 from fortified foods, hence the reason I said "In the developed world, there's no longer any justification for killing animals for food."

In some undeveloped cultures, you simply couldn't survive on a vegetarian diet, because the only protein source is fish, but there's no excuses in the cilivilised world any more.

edit: I forgot to mention eggs as a good source of B12.

I'm not into supplements and I eat whole foods only. All the research I've done shows that vegetarians don't live longer than people who do the paleo-diet or pescatarians, even though they live longer than people who eat meat daily.

The only meat I eat right now is the occasional piece of organic calf liver, or a steak, simply to replenish my B12 stores and to get some iron in me. I think if the average North American reduced their meat intake to what is nutritionally necessary only, we would live in a much different world.

A recent Oxford Uni study found that veggies might live longer than meat eaters, which would hardly surprise me. But, I'd say, for those whose only goal is to live a few years longer, you're missing the point. :) I used to worry about vits and minerals, but a good bowl of toasted nuts and seeds, tossed with a little oil, salt and maybe spices, for supper, does the trick.

Yep.

I eat meat, not because there is any scientific evidence that I should, but simply because it feels right. This is largely how I construct my diet.
