what to do in Scotland ?

I stand corrected :o

I distinctly remember being in a chippy either in Dublin or SW Scotland and it being the thing everyone was getting, and I got it too, as they didn't have sauce.

Had me first (and as yet still only) Gregg's up there (can't recall what it was but came wrapped in pastry) and also possibly the finest comestible creation known to man nor beast. Think it was called a "Munch Box". Was a 12" pizza box rammed full of everything the place it came from sold. In batter <3

Also, I have never in my life seen cheesy chips on a menu. True story.
 
I used to think Greggs was a Scottish thing. When I moved to London, the first thing I was pleased about was finding a Greggs. Macaroni pies ftw.

Gregg's may not technically be Scottish but I feel it falls within the realm of Scottishness nonetheless. In the same way that Bucky is technically English but has been taken to whole new levels past the Wall <3
 
I sort of think of Greggs as Geordie now I know they're in England :D

The first thing I was disappointed about when I got to London was the fact that macaroni pies were nowhere to be seen, even in Greggs!

Apparently that's a Scottish thing. I love them. I can't remember if I ever did find a macaroni pie in London but I do remember not finding them in many a Gregg, much to my chagrin.

Nah, I'm talking about the Art School on Sauchiehall Street. Unless it's not called the Art School?? There's a big open area downstairs, then upstairs a small bar, the bogs and at least one exhibition room. If you go downstairs in Sleazy's to see a band, I expect they charge - but I've never been charged for upstairs. What don't you like about the ABC? I like it as a gig venue. I enjoyed it as a club the one time I went (mainly because it has different rooms and I like to wander). It doesn't have the shadows for hiding like The Arches does but I managed to be moderately fucked on meph during the club.

Yowzers. Never heard of such a beast. Does look damnably tasty though =D

Sadly I am bereft of even the most basic of junk food here so even Gregg's is like a Cavern of Wonders for me. I heard a whisper there are places where one can acquire burgers - even fried chicken - in rapid stylee. Can't say I've noticed really. There is a cafe here that sells vegan burgers. But it shut.

A munchie box. If you get a large one to yourself you need to eat it tactically. Scran all the chips & donner meat first, as that's the stuff that even I wouldn't eat if it was left over in the morning.

Until right now I thought Greggs was Scottish. I still think it's shite though.

The Art School is on Sauchiehall Street now because they closed the old one & knocked it down. I think it's just temporary & used to be called Capitol. I didn't know there was an upstairs, I've been hammered the only 2 times I've been in it & pretty sure we just bowled in a door & straight to a bar. The old one had a few floors/rooms. This one might have as well right enough.

I don't like ABC because it's a shitty generic "cattle-market" type club (like The Garage *shudder*). Ideal if you want to hear Gangnam Style followed by The Kaiser Chiefs...

It's a decent gig venue though. I've seen The Streets, Odd Future & plenty other folk that I can't remember play there.

I saw The Streets there too. Great gig. :) The club I went to there was on a Sat night and I remember them playing stuff like Blondie/New Order/LCD Soundsystem/Hercules & love Affair upstairs and Justice downstairs. But the music policy will change depending on the night, I guess.
 
Can't recall which bit of Glasgow I was treated to. From what's been said I suspect it may be at the poncier end though. Lots of (very nice (probably very pricey) beers I'd never heard of in some basement place that also served pizza and was hotter than Hades. Yet most folk appeared to wear coats. Don't really remember much else due to massive drug intake. Were lots of nodding out junkies with MuckyD's drinks cartons lounging around and about the street if that helps narrow it down. I suspect it may not though.

Either way, I <3 Glasgow. At least the little of it I've seen.

Pee Ess: Bloke got stabbed to death within spitting distance of where I was kindly hosted an hour or two before I arrived so can assume I was in the best part of town =D

No I think it was a normal independent chippy. If it was in Ireland it would have been in Dun Laoghaire, to be exact. Wasn't up to spelling that earlier ;) did i get it right?
