BTW did anyone see Bayern this weekend.

Beat Hamburg 9-2 at home !!!

" What made Bayern's 9-2 victory all the more remarkable was that key players David Alaba, Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery, Mario Gomez and Mario Mandzukic, were all rested with the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final match against Juventus on Tuesday."

I realise ITV has to have a circle jerk over Becks V Barca on Tuesday.
But no way in hell am I missing Bayern V Juventus tommorow

That will be some game.

shit game indeed. also got me to wondering about the semis played at wembley, why did this come about in the first place? i remember when neutral grounds were used. villa park was a favourite. it just seems odd to go to wembley once and win and then return for the final.

The FA is basically broke from having to make up their projected income from failing to qualify for euro 2008 with steve mclaren.

They are still paying off Capello something to the tune of £9 million IIRC .

Congrats to Pinkpapaver

Aston Villa beat Chelsea 2-0 to win the nextgen european championship

2 dodgy Pens mind !! :)
Even so , nice to see an English team win it ahead of the likes of Juventus and Barca( both beaten by Chelsea on the way to the final btw)

For a druggy forum we have a pretty damn knowledgeable Footy Crowd.

The diversity is what it's all about .

TLM i take it that your big interest in ARgy footy is from your time in L.A ?

I prefer this thread to actual proper Forums dedicated to Clubs .

grim reading is our football forum at the moment. just pure in fighting. you'd think these arsehole owners would have brought us together?
apparently not!

i have only half the interest that you lot have in european and world football but i do like reading it....

...especially when the scum lose to chelski and all the reds fuck off! :D

sorry to drag it back down again. as you were premier league

Past couple of nights were a treat, good games, I love it when the CL gets to this stage. It's always great to see our local rivals humiliated, without their bought off referees they're nothing, they've always been minions in Europe, Bayern put them in their place, really enjoyed that match, it was like they were playing a second division team.

Only bad things I guess are the implications for our national team, I've been saying it for years but it's time Pirlo and Buffon should step aside, they will be way too old for the WC in Brazil. Also that game showed why AC Milan let Pirlo go for free, that's exactly how he played every week in his last two seasons at Milan, before he temporarly rediscovered his form last season, now he's back at making mistakes, giving the ball away and being uninfluential.

Last night was good too, good goals, Madrid were excellent, lots of very slick passing, they seemed on form, hope they win the CL this year.

Love that Messi is out too, I hate him and Barca more than anything.

Being a Porto Fan i'm hoping that Newcastle will do a number on Benfica tonight. That said i have been to Estadio de Luz & it is a fantastic ground when full & the mascot is amazing .

yeah im the same. even when the team you love has been put out it still makes for excellent viewing. i think real will do it this year. i would put a bet on but the odds aint gonna be all that so i might have to see what theyve got for scorers/total goals

edit: as for the gn im just gonna go for a horse that sounds like it has the most sort of reference in curerent news (shitty logic, but its the national after all).

Gotta feel sorry for Malaga. Out after two injury time goals for their Dortmund hosts. One, the winner, as far as I can see, was manifestly offside.

Doesn't seem fair, somehow. A grand little team is denied a deserved victory and instead dumped out because of an erroneous decision, But Blatter&co have ensured realpolitik rules and, as we're constantly reminded, big money football is simply not cricket.

The Special One to win with a third separate team? I'd put money on it.

^Yeah was an exciting game, really felt for Malaga. Think UTD should stick in a bid for Isco though. To be honest there very marginally offside goal was ruled out by Dortmunds 4 men who were all offside by quite a bit...Always going to be controversy when you relay on a single or 2-3 humans to make a very important and costly decision.

Blatter said what is the point in using camera ref technology as it will just be another human having to judge on the result, well yeah apart from they will be able to review a decision with inch precision, ie a wrong sending off, blatantly offside etc etc but whatever.

How about this video? UTD vs Madrid, Nani clips him in the lower side of his body with his studs, he falls and rolls 12 times like he should yeah, benzema scraps his studs across a Galatasaray players face at head height within a few meters of the ref, and no sending off, so much for consistency or maybe im just being bitter...

I dont know though, Barca arent going away anytime soon

They are so overated its not funny.
Look shocking once again tonight against a really moderate PSG.

Real shame they looked like a complete Sunday league team when Pastore scored just now

Even bigger shame is Toni Kroos is out with a season ending injury, was really looking forward to him running rings around the Barca midfield at Wembley.
Last years Bayern V Real 2nd leg was a game for the ages, would love to see that Final at wembley

I also feel sorry for them but of the two sides on the pitch it was Malaga that had spent the most money & are know banned from UEFA competition due to some really crazy financial shit. Also their 1st goal was offside so swings n roundabouts .

So don't be giving it a grand little team . Dortmund were the ones that were playing it fair financially .
I got love for Malaga & La Rosaleda is a great ground with a good atmosphere .

Enjoyed Bayern's cold and efficient destruction of Juve.

Sad for Italian football as Juve have been head and shoulders above domestic competition the past couple of seasons, gone are the 90s when the world's best players used to go to Serie A, glad I got to see live games back then, now it's sad, half empty stadiums and below par football.

Bayern have improved a lot from last year, at the mental level and with new buyings, I reckon they're the best team in Europe at the moment. I hope they draw Barca in the semi-final, would love to see Dortmund against Real. This year the CL has been good, marred by ref blunders and idiotic decision-making by officials but the football itself has been great. We can only hope UEFA get their heads out of their arses and introduce more video technology.

Well that wasn't fun... :(

Valiant effort from the lads though.. Good luck to Basel, would be nice to see them win it!
