ahh was thinking the other day if i won the lottery id set up a big radio station or something, know quite a few people with brilliant taste in music, employ em to pump out amazing tunes all day, get everybody off all this shock mainstream chartmusic bullshit

If by 'good music' you mean heavier stuff, yeah, I do have a lot of time for some stuff I care to admit to (and some stuff that's too guilty-pleasure-ish) but I make no secret of this, the first thrash album, ever. And they were 'punks', so it pissed everybody off. Which makes it greater still.

I'm sure everybody's heard it already, but if not then you're in for a treat. Trust me ;) :

Misfits - Earth AD / Wolf's Blood (Full Album)

Something tells me Slayer were listening to a lot of this when they turned into the Reign In Blood style band, rather than comedy Iron Maiden imitators. Not that I care that much for Slayer (these days), but I saw them on the same bill (I think) as Machine Head. Who again, while not my usual poison, were pretty great live.

Which brings me to: Black Flag - Slip It In

One of the few US punk videos that ever was circulated beyond the band's immediate family, though not that extensively. A shame that it took nearly another decade for the US to get punk rock, but then it prevented the rapid burn-out / corporate sell-out that wrecked the UK scene. Or summat.

Haha! My very first gig was Megadeth. The Youthanasia tour too. Still have a soft spot for Mustaine. So much so that I got upset at how he was portrayed as a pathetic figure in Some Kind Of Monster. When the really pathetic figures are Metallica themselves.

Seriously, if you can't stand them it's gripping viewing. Totally out of touch with reality; it's frightening and absurd. Their therapist almost joins the band at one point, and then there's Bob Rock. Who is an absurd a guy as guys get, all told.

But as you slagged the Stones, I'm going to dish out some punishment. Click on this piece of '80s cheese (from when they communicated only through lawyers) and be glad you don't experience my 3am attempts to state its case as being anywhere near 'good' in the normal sense:

I intend to inflict dubiously 'good' Stones on been head and anyone else silly / fascinated enough to click. And I am actually listening to this stuff now. Happy, been head? ;)

This song actually cheered me up last night as I was expecting a reunion with my one-time running buddy and flatmate (we fell out in a big way for various reasons, many of them my fault, many of 'em his). The fucker blew me out, but this video will forever remind me of the good times.
