For some reason I couldn't find any thread like this or anything like it, used the search engine and everything..

Does any one know why or the mechanism of smoking cigs while on a strong or enough opiates that INCREASES ur nod and the effect of the opioid for a short time ? Like when im buzzing hard on some Oxy then smoking a cig i immediately start nodding hard/ harder for a minute or two afterwards. Is their any research or explanation for why this synergy? Cuz it always happens to me and also some people I know. Or is it just subjective and only happen to SOME people ?

I'm pretty sure it has to do with nicotine causing increased levels of dopamine in the brain for short periods of time.

Dopamine release (nicotine) and MAOI mechanism (tobacco) which prevents the breakdown of dopamine.

It happens to a lot of people.

idk, the only drug that i feel ciggs enhance the best are amphetamines, cocaine, and stimulants. i crave ciggs on d-amp.

i dont like to smoke on oxy because if i am taking oxy i am also taking valium and cigarette smoke contains hydrocarbons that increase the clearance of mst benzos through 3A4 induction i believe,,

what i do is take my bupre and vyvanse in the morning, smoke all my cigs i want until about 4 or 5, then take some valium and hydroxyxine/dph at night. if it is an oxycodone day then i just take the amp and smoke all my cigs in the morning and early afternoon, then around 3-4pm i stop smoking cigs, and around 5-6 pm ill take my valium and oxycodone. after i take my valium and/or oxy i dont smoke any more cigs because i can literally feel a 50% decrease in intensity with valium
after 1 cig.

To be honest, if you're nodding out you shouldn't be smoking to begin with :\

Dropped cigarettes can lead to more than wardrobe peppered with cigarette burns.

lmao, I have my tolerance but i know what doses get me straa88ght, but first time abusing 75 mg Oxy's got me nodding with a cig half way burnned , goles all the way through my Bball shorts. Lmao Blah

Whatever the exact chemical that does it, it does it well.

Hated tobacco until I got addicted to dope. Then I was smoking cigs like a chimney.

There are lots of threads on this topic. But not all of them have accurate answers and some are hard to find using the search engine if you don't know what terms to put in.

Tobacco potentiates or synergizes with a lot of drugs. Ancient/indigenous cultures have used it as a potentiator for a very long time, some even going so far as to say tobacco potentiates prayers :)

But I found it to really potentiate heroin, to the point where (especially when I didn't smoke as often and therefore didn't have as much of a tolerance to tobacco) smoking a few cigarettes could send me from being moderately high to nodding and puking.

There are likely a number of mechanisms involved in how tobacco synergizes with opioids:

- Tobacco contains harmala alkaloids, which act as a mild MAOI which inhibits the metabolism of monoamines such as dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine.

- Nicotine increases dopamine.

- Nicotine enhances effects of opioids by some unknown mechanism, for example here is a study in which nicotine enhanced objective ability to tolerate pain in animals when administered with morphine, but nicotine by itself did not have any effect on pain tolerance.

- Smoking raises levels of beta-endorphin, one of the body's natural opioids (if you smoke enough, low-nicotine cigarettes did not have this effect in studies, so presumably it's the nicotine).

i nod better when i smoke alot of weed and cigs on opiates. im actually on the verge of a nod with a cig in my mouth right now :)

if i smoke to many cigs or way to much weed i might puke to. like at work a few weeks ago i took a lot of oxy and i was chain smoking cigs and ended up puking while driving down the cart path but felt much better afterwards but quickly found out that smoking another cig will juts make me nauseated again.
