Opioids IM'd an OC20, am I safe?

So stupidly, I injected 10mg of oxycodone in my leg muscle (IM) two days ago. I know this is dangerous and stupid, and I had no micron filter and didn't even use a cigarette filter. I know how stupid this was and will not be doing it again. I used a flame to put on the pill from a lighter to kill bacteria and on any surface I used. I injected it in my leg and had a pain in my leg that is normal from IM (have done IM ketamine before). I am just wondering if there is any danger now, two days later. There is no longer even a red dot where the needle went in (two shots), and no more pain. There is no sign of infection, no red line going showing an infection spreading and it does not look swollon or anything. The muscle on my right leg (the one I injected in) looks slightly bigger than the one on the left when i flex, however this could just be the normal size of my muscles.

I have a slight headache and nausea, however sometimes i normally experiance this from my tobacco addiction.

I was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of (besides the fact of not doing this again)

yes there is a risk of severe infection, but chances are your body will be okay. you did just about every thing wrong though. why wouldnt you filter it? better yet how did you get it into a rig without filtering it? and why the hell didn't you just i.v. it? believe it or not that would be a hell of a lot safer.

a good indicator that something is wrong that you should look out for is pain. if you experience a lot of pain you need to go to a doctor. also redness and swelling. chances are one of your legs are stronger than the other (due to driving or other activities) but if you notice severe swelling or it starts to get real tender it's er time. in the future never I.M. anything that doesn't come in a sealed vial that says "for i.v./i.m. use". also don't torch the pill, you might think it will sterilize it but it wont.
 
After two days you're probably fine. IMing pills is seriously asking for an abscess though and using heat on the pill will only make it worse because it releases more binders and fillers into the solution although since you didn't filter at all I don't know that it would make any difference. What did you do? Backload it into the syringe? Seems like a hell of a lot of risk for something that has 90% oral BA anyway and with IM you don't even get the instant effect... probably would have hit you quicker if you just snorted it.

You'll REALLY think I am an idiot but I just moved the syringe around in the solution avoiding particles and when one got stuck just squirted it back out and continued.
 
You're definitely not safe.
If I were you I would seek medical advise as soon as possible, duck. IVing pills without even a cotton filter is bad but IM is, seriously dangerous. You should never heat a shot either. Please go to a doctor and give him all the info.
I know there's no pain but if you wait for it to get worse you could be doing yourself serious damage...

Does anyone agree with this? I have no pain, there is no swelling, no sign that there is anything wrong.

I know it was stupid, and won't do it again. I do not know what you mean by "get worse" as there doesn't seem to be anything wrong.

I have been coughing today and have alot of musus, but I cannot see how that could be related.

I don't have the money to go see a doctor for no reason.
 
Carefully observe the injection site for foul play, swelling, elevated temeperatures. Put hot compresses on it / take a long hot shower.

If you still fear for your health over the next 12-24hours, seek immediate medical attention and a real emergency service.

I'll be honest, what you did was flat out dumb for multiple reasons and the potential for harm you induced is enough to warrant serious concern. I would be worried about amputation of the limb should your OC20 abscess.

I hope you take drug abuse more seriously in the future, especially if you supposedly can't afford healthcare, but can afford the materials to improperly intramuscularly inject one of the worlds most expensive pharmaceuticals.
 
I do not think I have a fever I will check when I get home.... there is no swelling or pain. It is a bit sore, but this is normal for IM - happens with K as well.
Does an absess happen immediatly or can it take 2-3 days? There is no sign of anything, just worried.

btw this was only half a 20mg oxy, one of the small blue ones
 
An abscess can take days before it is noticeable. The fact that your muscle seems slightly larger than usual is enough to warrant medical attention, if the fact that you even did this wasn't.

OP, please seek assistance from a professional and keep us updated.

I have no insureance and I really cannot go to a doctor... what signs should I look for if its an emergency and I really HAVE to go.

Also I do not know if it is larger than usual, i do not usually compare my upper leg muscle.
 
I would suggest seeing a healthcare professional immediately. . A friend of mine injected Winstrol, an anabolic steroid, (straight from the pharmacy) from a sterile vial, in his leg muscle. He got fevers after a couple of days, had to be in hospital for a month.. They had to remove quite a lot of muscle tissue, and put a drainage in to let the pus and god knows what out from the injection site. He also had to take antibiotics and pain medication for a long time after the incident.

This was with a sterile product approved for IM injection.. Just go see a doctor. Good luck, hope everything goes well :)
 
First off, the little blue oxys are 30mg instead of 20, but that really doesnt matter...i honestly dont know how the hell you even thought this was a good idea at all...IMing a pill is fucking horrible for you, and you took it a step farther without even filtering it! What the hell man? Are you trying to lose your leg for a high that would have been just as good if you would have snorted it, of even plugged it? Obviously if you're using needles then you have some sort of knowledge when it comes to filtering a solution...i just dont understand how you told yourself that this would be an okay thing to do

And yes, if you're having all the symtopns you've listed, then it could possibly be a sign of an infection...go to the ER ASAP. Even if you cant afford it, you'll be alot better off paying for the ER visit and the antibiotics they will give you to clear it up, instead of having surgery to amputate your leg and the stay in the hospital and everything that comes to such a serious proceedure( if it even comes to that) im sorry man, but before you do something that dumb again, please think about it first...you're gonna hurt yourself if you continue to be this reckless...
 
^I figured it was an OP20, oxycodone controlled release 20mg, they said nothing in their original post about "little blue oxys", they said OC20s, now I'm thinking it was just oxycodone instant release. The 20mg IRs are grey, but and the 30mg IRs are light blue. So your posting conflicts multiple factual issues, wanna clear that up? @OP, can you clarify what formulation of oxycodone you injected via IM? If it's not time-released, that could explain why hopefully, it's not forming an abscess. Time released medications, the OxyContin formulation in particular, is notoriously unforgiving because it's using a totally plastic polymer; if you don't form an abscess it's pretty miraculous. With IR medication, you're definitely better off, but this was by no means something ANYONE should repeat. It's horribly dangerous, even in IR form.

Tricomb: While he didnt say it in his original post, he did mention the small blue oxys in a latter messages which lead me to believe that it was a roxi, and believe me, i know what color the OP 20's are, and infact know what color every different strength OP is. Which is why im sort of confused too. He says he did an "OC 20" which aren't even made anymore, its all OP, and then he mentioned it was a small blue oxy, and the only small blue oxys ive expierenced in my years of opiate addiction were 30mg roxis. Maybe OP can clear this up for us, because it confuses me too...
 
^Yeah I later read his second post mentioning the "little blue" "20mg" "OC" so who know what he really took, ha. Probably a roxi 30, no point in speculating though, we'll see what the OP has to say about it.
