Hi new member have a question to ask not sure where to post.
Long time Vic user trying to find out where I can get help. I have tryed sub strips and has help but need to find a Dr to get on the program and wants to find out more about it.

the sub program is expensive to say the least. the monthly visit to the doctor can cost anywhere from 75-150 a appointment. not counting the first visit the "initial eval" which a new patient can have to pay 300 something dollars.. which is insane to me. then the subs themselves are approx 125 bux for a box of 30 8/2 strips.. im lucky enough to have a family willing to pay the cost but if i didn't i would be dead or in jail. i am sure there are places you can go for help that won't rape you in costs for the doctor but it may be more rigid, may have to check up weekly or whatever.

dugefrezf, are you on the program? Can you send me a message explaining more? As far as cost I'm not to worried about that. I have good insurance and hope they will pay for part of it. I'm more curious what the program is like? What do you have to do to get prescription??

It depends on the doctor, but most will have you see them every two weeks at first, and then once a month. The visits are not covered by insurance, so you have to pay out of pocket each month (this is in the US if that's where you are from) although your meds should be covered by insurance.

Personally, I would not go on suboxone for more than a few months for a vicodin habit. Suboxone is very potent, and will likely raise your tolerance if you take the dose that the doctor will likely prescribe. 2mg of suboxone will easily cover an 80mg/day vicodin habit, just to give you an idea of its potency. Speaking of which, what is your habit like?

When you get on suboxone you should also plan getting off of it. You can do a taper over a few months, which should give you time to distance yourself from the vicodin abuse lifestyle without making it too hard to get off of the suboxone when you are ready to do so.

If you have medical insurance it's nothing like these costs. I have been without insurance for years so I KNOW how hard this can be. Try to get on cheap subtex or some of the new generic suboxone strips. They should be much, much cheaper. With insurance my doctors visit was 50$ and the scripts are only 30 dollars for 60 8mg strips.

Yes cheaper....also unapproved and quasi-legal with unknown consequences longterm. Not to mention having to find someone capable of dosing you correctly and willing to wipe you down when mess yourself in the middle of a reality/ego destroying hallucinatory experience. Nearly as extreme as induced-coma rapid detox....well ok, maybe not that bad.

I'm not to worried about the cost or my insurance covering it or not. I am more interested to hear about how to get in the program or what gos on in the program.

What state do you live in? A simple google search would yield every answer you are looking for. I can't speak about what goes on in the program. But, suboxone.com has a list of doctors and tons of info.

I live in Michigan. Yes I have looked on their. Thanks!! I was just hoping to hear people's personal thought s on the program. I guess above all I'm nervous about it.

I understand. Pre- quiting anxiety, it happens. I'm sure others can give you first hand advice on sub programs. I have never been in one. But, how much hydrocodone are you taking a day? I personally wouldn't use sub or methadone management unless you have a ridiculous hydro habit. Maybe a taper is a better way to go about it....

Thanks livinginthealps I'd rather not say on here but if you can send me a message I can explain more about my addiction and situation that I am in.
I'm new to this forum so any people I can talk to about this I think will help me.

You'd get much more help if you would just make a thread about your issue.. that way your open to everyones knowledge and advice. Why are you hesitant to explain your problem in detail so we can actually help?

Like I said I am new to this. Where would I post my story here?? in am also a bit of a private person I guess. And don't like people to judge me.

I can assure you. NO one here is gonna be judgemental. We need to know your story if we are going to be of any use. They great thing about the Internet is that it's fairly anonymous.

Since this is already your thread, yes just post it right here.

Nobody will judge you.. you're on a site filled with people who have been through exactly what you're going through and 10x worse, so we don't hold anything against anybody.
