you still had a concept of reality? i had a similarly unexpectedly intense lsd trip once (with 1.5 blotters friends had taken before and determined to be average strength, back then when any blotter you got would either be lsd or completely empty). i tripped at what seemed like maximum intensity with seemingly no way to increase it further for 10 hours. one hour comeup, 10 hours completely disconnected from anything like reality (i didn't even know that there was a different state of being that the one i was in back then, time didn't exist or was looping though back and forth in small snippets, my thoughts determined if it's day or night in the short pictures of my surroundings i got from time to time towards the end, i thought all of existence was about to cease to exist and so on, just completely out of my mind), then a sudden crash back to (heavily tripped out) reality until it subsided in the following 1 or 2 hours.
so, yes, lsd can do such a thing. in fact since this trip i believe that you can have absolutely any kind of experience imaginable (or unimaginable) on lsd. intensity can vary greatly depending on your mindset, more so when you exceed your usual dose just a bit. i've also had trips that had been pretty weak and boring until i got scared about something 7 hours after ingestion, and then i started to trip fullon for the next 2 or 3 hours.
another thing that might be helpful for you (or not) is that i needed way lower doses of lsd after the 10 hour trip above.
