Did you try PMing the SLR mods?
Did you try PMing the SLR mods?
but the foreskin thread I can tell you was creating a lot of reports.
the level of sanctimony in that statement is pretty mind-boggling...an inflated sense of their own importance.
omg another foreskin thread that went south that is hilarious
I *think* I understand the cut of your jib, and let me explain. Remember, this forum is run by volunteers who take time out of their day to listen to you guys complain about other posters. When a thread gets heated, it turns into a barrage of reports and we get emailed when it happens. Then, if you're an smod/admin, you have to get the emails from people complaining about whatever the mod decides to do. For me, I don't care. I'll make a judgement call in about 3 seconds and move on but that's me. But, when it starts into PMs and several reports, it can get annoying.
When you post in a forum, you have several mods and each of them have personal attitudes towards certain stuff, and I realize it's probably difficult when a thread gets heated to understand how each mod will react, but I have to say that when you start reporting posts a lot, you are "starting" the problems if you are just as guilty as the guy you are reporting. If you're gonna report posts, keep your own nose clean.
I get what you are saying but don't completely understand. I saw and read the "foreskin" thread. I thought it was juvenile and a little tasteless so I didn't post anything. I may be naive but if I don't like a thread or feel it is tasteless I just skip that one. I never thought to complain to a mod about the subject. My point (if I even have one) is I am on a site with a lot of different people around the world. I have offended people and I have been offended. That's what happens.
My question, do the mods get that many complaints? If so, is it as easy to remind these people that they are sharing this space with a lot of other people and if they don't like a thread then don't look at it?
The foreskin thread was a productive discussion until that one guy started spamming the thread with huge copy and pastes. It's so fucking irritating when people do that... like quantity makes them right, or something.
I think it would have been better to delete/move his posts somewhere else, give him a mod warning for spam, and then let the discussion continue. But I guess that would take more work than just locking it.
