Anyway, back up your important stuff.
Then click
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpa...table/0.14.1-6/gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso
then click the green download button
then quickly RIGHT-click on the "direct link" link, and choose "save link as..." or "save as..."
Then locate a space for the file your downloading on your D drive, as you probably don't have space on the C drive.
Hit OK and wait for it to download.
Then you need CD burining software. Nero is the common one. It might already be on your computer. Nero Burning ROM or something.
If you don't have it, you could download this:
http://cdburnerxp.se/en/home
Install that. It should associate ISO files with that program. You might want to install it on your D drive, you'll get the choice. As you go through the installation panel, choose "Associate ISO files with CDBurner/XP". Then Install, Accept, Next.
It installs RealPlayer for some reason. Oh well, let it do it.
When it's installed, it should start. Click "Burn ISO image" from the menu. and choose OK.
Put a blank CD-R in the drive.
Click Browse and locate the ISO file you downloaded for GParted. (My Computer / D: / gparted-live-0.14.1-6-i486.iso) and "open".
Then click Burn Disc. It will put the GParted software on the disk.
Reboot the computer with the disk in the drive. You need to make it boot off the CD, this is specific to your model of laptop. It might just do it automatically.
Press ENTER to choose GParted LIVE from the menu.
Wait a bit.
Press ENTER when it says "Don't touch keymap"
Enter 02 when prompted for your language
Enter 0 to "continue to start X to use GParted automatically"
Wait
You'll see something like this:
Right click the box to the right which is your D drive and choose resize/move.
Drag the start of the box a bit to the right, say half way to let you have of the space allocated to drive D: available for drive C:
Then right click the box to the left, which is your C drive and choose resize/move.
Drag the right side of the box to the right, this is you expanding your C drive into the available space.
You should end up with something like this:
Once it's ready, click the Apply (tick) button and it will do it's work
Click the EXIT button and choose Reboot from the menu, then OK.
Remove the CD when prompted.
Press ENTER
You should now reboot into a machine with a bigger C: drive.
I've just tested this and it worked. There were a few error messages but I just ignored them and it made fuck all difference. I was using an older version of GParted though, the newer one should not have those errors. If you get errors, don't panic, it's only when you hit Apply that it actually does anything to the disk. If you shit yourself, just eject the CD and reboot, everything will be as it was before.
Might be helpful to print this out, and have an alternative means of getting on line if you need help during the process, as you won't get on the internet while you're using GParted.
Or post me your laptop and I'll do it for you

I have space on my network to back the entire fucker up.
Oh wait, you don't trust me not to rifle through your stuff - quite right. Surely you have a mate with a bit of computer experience who could do this for you?
