best stimulant type to combat benzo induced fatigue

hi hi

Im currently on a regime of an SSRI + Clonazepam (klonopin) and Xanax

This works great for my dysthymia and generalised anxiety disorder, but can often effect my energy levels and concentration.

I have tried taking vitamins, (along with an exercise regime) to no avail

My doc is unable to prescribe any stimulants as they are heavily controlled here in Australia (he even needs to call the health authority to get the benzo scripts written)

I have no interest in taking street stimulates - speed/meth - due to the questionable purity and dosages needed.

Does anyone have experience in this type of situation.

what do you think might work well eg, adderall, dexies, ritalin, ephedrine, modafinil, armodafini - or anything else yov can suggest

cheers

Ephedrine. You could also try a cup of coffee. Or caffeine pills. Or energy drinks. Or stop taking benzos. Modafinil is also pretty good. I don't think you want to go down the path of amphetamine addiction......

thanks for the reply aussie101

if i could stop taking the benzos i wouldnt be asking this question :)

which is why im looking for pharm stimulants where i can more accurately control doses
as opposed to getting a meth habit

im not a fan of stimulants really

caffeine pills (caffeine in high doses) reduce information retention and can cause short term memory loss - so exasperate the same symptoms caused by the benzos

whichever stimulant i end up sourcing im not gonna be taking more than a few times a week

but cheers for your concern

Look into some nootropics like piracetam, huperzine a, citicoloine, fish oil....

I take these before Uni. And sorry can't help out w/ eph, it is actually really good and has minimal side effects when taken safely.

no worries mate

eph is my preference - only issue is with most drugs (including heroin/ice/pills etc) possession of small amount only leads to a drug diversion program if caught

possession of a precursor is a different storry - as the filth assume you have it to either make meth yourself or sell it to someone with a lab

I would start with modafinil. It's very effective at treating fatigue in clinical studies. It would also be a better alternative then ephedrine due to the 'cracked-out' peripheral effects. I would also recommend it over mixed-salts-amphetamine and dextroamphetamine due to dependence and addiction issues with these drugs.

There is a huge difference between ritalin and adderal.....

Ritalin is good for concentration, and will have fewer side effects than adderal; however, adderal is much more effective, though usually much harder to get scripted...

Ritalin is good recreationally, in my eyes it is even better than adderal, due to the fact that the side effects are non existant.......

You should let us know, what are you looking to do while you are dosing?

And how long do you need it to last??

due to the fact that the side effects are non existant.......

This is not a fact. IME 75% of people I've come across experience much milder symptoms with dextroamphetamine then methylphenidate. Methylphendiate is often described as 'dirty coke'.

I basically just need it to help remain alert and keep concentration levels up

as here in OZ only psychiatrists can prescribe Clonazepam (and GPs are very reluctant to write scripts for Xanax) I can hardly try and convince my psyic that i have ADHD

its my understanding that adderall etc are very rarely prescribed to adults - and when i talked to a doc about modafinil he refused to consider it as he had never heard of it

Yes modafinil would definitely be your best choice, you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting it rx'd as this seems like a perfect indication for the drug.
It's apparently sold under the name Modavigil in australia.

I'll 2nd that. I found Methylphenidate to be pretty awful.

I still have some Modafinil knocking around somewhere which I bought whilst in Thailand after I had some food poisoning.

Completely not true. Methylphenidate has WAY more side effects than traditional amphetamines, and it is not a fact it is better for concentration.

Yeah dont start doing amps for a simple issue like benzo fatigue. Eph in the form of natural plants or one of the other stimulant herbs perhaps?

Im wonder about your experience of the benzo effects as a negative could mean its something else. Benzos are often taken and the effects are usually a non issue in terms of fatigue or even pleasant or motivating with euphoria. I cant take big doses of xanax and all i want to do is go out and party so its useless for me for sleep even. Though im not that experienced in this...

Just a guess though but perhaps its a mood/depression issue or related to the SSRI. Just a guess though... A doc could assist.
