I looked thru the thread for a bit but my internet keeps cutting out, so i wanna just ask before it goes off for good. What kind of drugs are out in england? Like new england is all opiates, then theres your mid west meth, and of course crack in every major city, but what kind of scene is it out there? Or is the whole world just kinda on everything like the USA? with exceptions where drugs are produced of course...like Laos probly has way more heroin than anything else but more specifically it has powderd heroin hcl, and if you were in mexico you probably wouldnt find any powdered dope... So anyway, what you guys got out there?
 
^ I think that one of the major differences between the US and the UK drug scene is the speed scene. Here in the US we have meth, but in the UK they have street speed which is one of the amphetamines (not sure which one) since meth isn't widely available there. They also don't have prescription amphetamines being written left and right like we have in the US, so the street speed kind of fills that void.
 
Yeah, methamphetamine has never taken off here. It's out there in some circles but very limited. Not sure why. Here it was always amphetamine sulphate powder, now it's all base, or so called base / paste. TBH I'm not sure what base is, I haven't worked out yet if it's just sulphate in a different form, or a different type of amp? Mixmag 2012 survey of 7700 users had only ~1% of all UK respondents saying they'd used meth in the last 12 months. Tiny amount compared to other amphetamines. Maybe the fact we have had decent ( once legal ) RCs a while has something to do with that, Mephedrone, etc. Maybe also something to do with the the penalties for methamphetamine being more severe than those for sulph / base, meth is Class A, the others Class B. Lower risk to suppliers / users.

Speaking of RCs I get the feeling that the RC scene is a bit more developed here in the UK than in the US as yet, probably because we have nothing directly equivalent to your federal analogue act. UK drug laws are more specific I think, drugs have to be specifically outlawed, there's nothing that could say well 6-APB must be automatically illegal cos it's a bit like MDA, which if I understand things aright is how things tend to work your side of the pond?

We don't have a prescription / pharmaceutical opiate problem like you guys do in the US. Here opiates mean street H ( almost exclusively base heroin ), or methadone and buprenorphine prescribed by specialist addiction units. We have nothing at all like the pill farms you guys have, we don't get oxies and whatever handed out like fucking smarties like you guys seem to do.

Meth is a regional thing here actually. I mean I'm sure if you're really looking you could find it just about anywhere but, in the north east where I am the old classics like coke, crack and heroin reign supreme with the addition of prescription drugs. Down south and in some other areas meth seems to be king of the hard drugs and street speed isn't very common anywhere but, adderal is everywhere and especially popular with college kids.

I've never been into RCs but, you're right that the analog act really fucked up whatever scene we might have had.

Prescription drugs in general have a very active market here, not just the opioids. Anything from benzos to gabas to erectile dysfunction drugs have street value. Now that they have been cracking down on the pill mills in Florida and the reformulation of oxycontin, heroin has been finding itself into a lot more circles and scenes. Florida was such a major source and the OPs suck so bad that even in the Boston area most of my dealers that were strictly selling oxy have long since been exclusively selling east coast powder. The prescription opioid problem was epidemic but, now a good portion of those people (myself included) have made the switch for economical reasons but, mostly because of availability. So really our heroin usage in this country has probably doubled if not tripled.

What about ecstasy use in the UK? Whether MDA or MDMA. It's been a long time since I was in that scene here in the states but, from what I gather there isn't much of an ecstasy scene left here. Just curious how your scene might be because from what I can tell you guys have a healthy EDM culture and back in the day at least those things went hand in hand.
 
^ Theres still a lot of ecstasy in the US. in fact "molly" has been growing in popularity, with the rappers now doing it. I dont think it ever really decreased either. in the Bay area of CA i know the Thizz and hyphey movements havent died and theyre based around poppin pills (They call E 'thizz')

Yea but how often in the "molly" actually MDMA? Most of the times it is RC's and the younger generation doesn't know any better since they are all about just getting as fucked up as possible. I remember seeing an article about the percentage of "molly" and/or ecstasy pills that were tested and the majority of it was not legitimate.
 
Johnny blue was asking about E use in the UK. It's getting bigger and bigger, since the drought, from what I can see. Most pills are decent and prices are coming down. It's like people have rediscovered the stuff, in my circle of mates. Everyone is doing it again. There's no MDA in sight, which is shit. Other than that, it's great. :D
 
I've not had MDMA in years, twenty years since I was out clubbing but yeah, my understanding too is E is back in a big way. It was shit for years, absolute waste of time. Pills were selling for pocket change, told you everything you needed to know about their MDMA content ( i.e. none whatsoever! ) I just stopped bothering with it, getting on for a decade since my last so-called E maybe? Crystal's been about for a while but decent pills, not to my knowledge until really quite recently AFAICS. I think the RC trade is in large part responsible for that. Mephedrone was massive here in the club scene before the ban. I think it's a piss poor substitute myself, not even in the same class but a gram of 99% pure legal Meph for x amount was just an all round better bet than x amount on adulterated illegal stuff of dubious quality. Other RCs come available since the Mephedrone ban have the same effect I'm sure. The producers of the illegals were forced to raise their game I think to stay in the market at all. This is pure conjecture on my part but the coincidence is striking.

As for the clubbing scene, still looks pretty vibrant to me. Quality Leeds club I went to a few months back certainly had a good vibe to it, and a fair few fucked up people. Shame the music was so shit. Minimal tech, all night long . . . . *snores* Where's my euphoric build you cunts!?
 
Maybe things are picking up again. It's been about ten years since my serious club days myself. Back in the day no one looked for Molly. I mean it was around but, the pills were good and plentiful so there was really little need. I just assumed shit still sucked because of what I read on here and what I hear irl. Last time I ran into my old ecstasy dealer he was asking me if I could get anything good and back in the day he was getting nothing but 9s and 10s.
 
Hey this thread has been dead for a couple months but I'm gonna post anyway.

I work at a store right on the beach in Hollywood, Florida that is inside the same building as a pretty well known hotel, so I get the opportunity to meet people from all over the world on a daily basis. It's mostly just a few minutes of interaction so the generalizations I'm about to make are really quite pointless but it's fun.

Brits-- About as witty and sarcastic as I have often imagined they were so we get along great. Very easy going it seems too.
French (canadian, every year around the same time we get literally hundreds of ppl from quebec here)-- very talkative and energetic but nearly impossible to understand.
Norwegian-- very quiet and reserved but nice all the same. beautiful girls (at least the ones I've seen)

I prefer to imagine that an average day in London consists of activities more or less in line with the movie "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". That is my fantasy. I've yet to visit another country (besides tijuana mexico) but I've ventured all across the U.S. and you could very well say there are multiple countries within out country!
 
Brits - how does it feel when we had to kick your ass twice (American revolution, war of 1812) then save your ass twice (WWI and WWII).

I am just kidding.

I feel that a lot of Americans look to the UK, especially England, with a lot of reverence. I know when I visited, I was blown away by all the history and the pomp. Even though my family moved to America in the late 1600s, I still feel that English history is partially my history. We use your language, laws and basic governance (representative democracy).

I feel that the former British colonies (Can, Oz, Nz, USA) share a special bond of common culture that is not replicated between any other countries. Every time I drive into Canada the only thing that changes is I have to use monopoly money and the goddamned communist metric system.
 
It feels good that you kicked our asses and saved our asses (arses), because Imperialism is bullshit. The Germans just came too late to the party. And Germany now is an amazing country. I think they needed to go through some bad times to come out the other end. Richest country in Europe. Awesome place to visit....genuinely nice people. Great beer, great cars, sweet nightlife, brilliant football...etc.

I like how the English language unites us. I've grown up on American TV and Movies, love your comedy as well. It's part of who I am. Most of my heroes are American. The bond is there and it's good to know if shit were to go down again, you guys would probably have our backs.

I've only been to Australia (and loved it), but desperately need to see America, Canada and NZ some time.

edit: oh and just for the record. You can't take all the credit for how WW2 went. You have to largely thank the Russians for their part.
