Food For Thought Questions of God and The Universe

These are just a couple questions I came up with that I thought might start some good discussion. They are all questions dealing with God vs. The Universe and the general things that make them function.Each question builds upon the prior one.

1. If we are created in the image of God or the Universe and in the image created we die, does this not mean the Universe will die as well?

2. Is God/ the Universe aware of its inevitable end and knows when it will occur? Or are they ignorant to their eventual demise,with only the subjects they created in their image aware of the impending doom?(The Universe/God knows when our existence as we know it will cease,but do we know its?).

3. Is there really a discernable difference between the religious concepts of God vs. the scientific concepts of the Universe,or are all the differences simply created by religion?

4. Could differences in religious views involving God vs. metaphysical views of the Universe be the same or different when it comes to the concept of where you venture after death? With the Universe recycling the energy from our soul back into it, melding the energy back into its perpetual engine,or do we literally go to a "Heaven" or "Hell"? Or possibly recycled back into the Universe but into a different dimension that we perceive as "Heaven" or "Hell"

5. Are Religion,Science,Metaphysics,Philosophy, and Psychology not all the same things, with the same ideas and theories,just with each one worded differently? Also, is Spirituality any different than these other concepts? Why or why not...

To clarify question 2 and 4 a little bit. On question two what I am asking is if the Universe is looked at as a conscious being is it conscious of its inevitable demise just like it is conscious of humanitys inevitable fall. On question four, do we simply die and recycle back into the Universe or do we actually go 2 a seperate place like "Heaven" and "Hell" or is it a combination of both of those things that fit within one another.

As for what you wrote to read, I havent had a chance yet,but I will be sure to.Got to go to work for 12 hrs X.x Will try and check during my break though...

Can't a fiction have central themes, characters, ideas, plot, blahblahblah? Can't these be considered facts that pertain to the fictional story? Also science has a long history within religion...

But really? You could say science that science has a long history within religion but science as it is now completely contradicts it. You could consider early religion to be a form of science.. but it only gets as far as hypothesis.

1. energy could be considered eternal. The universe is going to die, it is expanding and this will lead to its death. Doesn't mean anything though, we can see the universe dying now. Life on earth will die, everything will and then will probably be reborn.

2. the universe was completely created and based on logic and the laws of physics.

3. science and religion have opposite views towards God, religions can be said to all point to the same God, as one of the Pope's mentioned in an essay he wrote, can't remember which encyclical it was but it was good. They differ in many ways and have conflicts over misunderstandings but essentially, they are speaking about the same thing.

4. recycled as energy cannot be destroyed, whatever happens to that energy i dont know but it doesn't go away. IMO we move through different dimenions or universes, not scientifically sound but the DMT spirits show me this.

5. Each subject is distinct but have overlaps in some places.

I disagree with this point. To say science doesn't also require faith is completely bogus... how many of us have personally attempted to prove or disprove the theory of relativity? What about any other major theories/ scientific "facts?"

We believe what we read in scientific journals, simply because of the word "scientific." It requires faith in science; men in white lab coats are becoming the new clergy. Contrary to popular belief, science can lie. Variables are constantly manipulated to prove the point the scientist wants to prove. We know little more about the "big questions" than we used to; in a way, science is just making things more complicated.

Sometimes when studying complex scientific ideas I believe more in a divine being. How could something like evolution produce such a complex system, such as the human eye, starting from what was once a single celled organism?

Over immense periods of time the intellect produced nothing but errors. A few of these proved to be useful and helped to preserve the species: those who hit upon or inherited these had better luck in their struggle for themselves and their progeny. Such erroneous articles of faith... include the following: that there are things, substances, bodies; that a thing is what it appears to be; that our will is free; that what is good for me is also good in itself.

Interesting that you dont believe we have souls,but I can see the logic in the quote you posted.How do you explain the connectedness of twins,mothers, and sometimes significant others when something is wrong if we are not all connected by something? Or the Psychic abilities some have,must they not be tapping into somekind of unseen energy? Granted, I understand you seem to be a strict atheist, however,I just wish to hear your answers and take on things...

Ill try to answer all your questions simply.. In my experience God is the universe and god is EVERYTHING; God is that which is all and that which is empty space;

The whole existence itself; In my experience this reality and what are senses can perceive are only the tip of a large iceberg which makes the whole miracle of life possible.

There is a reason we were given limited senses and rules governing this reality; Or else we wouldn't be able to enjoy it like we do; Think of how many parts of the body unconsciously work without us thinking about it? We see and hear without effort; The relationship between us and plants; The whole cycle of life;

The whole energy is neither created or destroyed; THere is no death really only transition; Its like when a cloud is in the sky and rains; it changes form from gas to liquid; Did the cloud die? not it just changed forms...


Humans are composed of god but it is hidden behind the Ego in the "true self".. The ego is created to make a feeling of separation between us an the universe.. The truth is the whole thing is being done by one complete intelligent force; It is truely magnificent and the fact that life works and is possible is amazing

I think eventually science and spirituality will become one in the future; Quantum Mechanics really is the science of god;

Scientifically speaking its Einstein's Unified field of energy theory;

Underneath everything we are really immortal beings; and we are all One; But its really boring being god so we have to break ourselves down into 6 billion people to have seperate subjective experiences.. and we play hide and seek with ourselves

We are made of atoms and molecules, stars are made of atoms and molecules..

we are made of star stuff;


The fact that everything is made of atoms and molecules is a dead give away for my small logical brain lol

^ I think pantheism is mostly based on the experience "All is One" (or likewise: 'I' am everything) whereas saying "the universe is everything" is merely a proposition (S is P) which doesn't attain the real "truth" (whatever that may mean).

These the questions posted by the OP are very interesting to think about; and alot of the answers will be personal based on a persons beliefs and spirituality/scientific background

Im not sure if my beliefs are pantheism but it sounds close

1. if we die the universe keeps going. our interpretation of the universe(or our reality) will be gone but the universe will always exist. i asked my philosophy teacher something like this once and he gave me that answer.

2. you must then first ask if the universe is a sentient being. i don't believe it is, so i'd have to say no. and what makes you think that the universe has an "inevitable end"? the idea that the stars are growing apart? balance will be restored in time. stars will be born, stars will grow bigger.

4. when metaphysics is studied in philosophy, those questions aren't asked. we ask questions that have an answer. what comes after death cannot be known. i hope that in the next 500 years we have the technology to find out where our 12 grams of soul goes when we hit the hay. until then, there can't be a clearly defined answer.

5. religion deals with alot of metaphysical concepts. 'science' and psychology? i don't even know how they could even be confused with religion.

i would say there is the material and the non material, if you can recognize and appreciate god in the material around you as with taoism, and the many metaphors in the bible(in relation to your other thread) these questions will begin to answer themselves.

To a certain extent, reading scientific journals etc does require some level of faith.. but it's more a faith in the human race.. Especially when you bring in peer reviews.

And seriously? You don't believe in evolution. The complex system of an eye took millions of years.. Starting with photo-sensitive cells, adding in a lense and then an apateur pupil..
