Bupe Wait TOO long before taking suboxone?

I read somewhere that if you wait too long to take subs, when you're switching from h to subs doing the induction, that you'll be sick still.. They said the longer you wait the more withdrawal you'll be in and then when you take subs it has more work to do since you're in severe WD.

Is this true? Or is it best to waitnaskong as possible before taking suboxone for the first time to avoid predicated withdrawals?

Also, what's a good time range after your last use of IV h before taking suboxone to avoid precipated withdrawal? I've heard 12 hours, 12 - 18 hours, and 24... For me I don't get withdrawals at 12 hours but by 18 hourscim feeling them depending on how much I use. I just IVed a bun at 7pm tonight so hopefully tomorrow afternoon I can take suboxone and start living life!!!

I'm new here and want to get bacon on suboxone tomorrow so I'd appreciate the help!

Well ya should take the subs when yer withdrawin usually a minimum of 24 hrs after yer last dose but I've heard of ppl bein sick in less than that n taken em and bein fine.

I've taken @ <24 hrs and been perfectly fine.

In response to your question, what you heard is absolutely positively incorrect and a load of hog wash... the more severe the withdrawal, the more relief you'll achieve.

Good luck, stick it out til you're uncomfortable, only you know what that means for your own body.

It's completely the opposite from what you read... the longer you wait to take the subs the better they will work..

As to a good time frame to avoid PW's..it's different for everybody so nobody can give you a definite "wait x amount of hours and you'll for sure avoid PW's". It all depends on your individual metabolism and how fast you personally get sick. One needs to wait until he/she is in full withdrawal before taking the suboxone. For some that's 12 hours, for others it's 15, 24, 36, etc.

You have to know your own body and know when you are actually in real withdrawal. But, either way the longer you wait to take it, the better it will work, so disregard whatever you read that claimed that wasn't true.

Check out The Suboxone/Bupe Megathread and be careful in the future where you're getting your info. There is a lot of misinformation about suboxone and how it works out there.

An old friend would wait approx' 12 hours after binging a couple hundred mg's of (original) oxycontin a day powdered, orally. He claimed the best way was to take 2 mg increments of subutex every 45 minutes, up to 18 -24 total He said it worked like a miracle for 24 + hours, then 4 -8 mg's down to 2 by the 4th day with no unpleasantness.
(your mileage may vary)

I was hoping this was true but in my experience, the longer you wait, the better. For me, when I had a gram a day heroin habit, the suboxone would barely give me any relief. The first couple days were hell on earth, no matter how much subs I took. Granted, it would have been even worse had I not had the sub, but it really only started to work well by the third day and it would not hold me completely until the 6th day. That was coming off a major, long term habit though. With small habits, sub works like a charm.

It just all depends on your body. I know when I was using opiates, I could wait 12-16 hours and take bupe and feel the full effects, but that's not something I would recommend. I wouldn't wish precipitated withdrawals on my worst enemy.

However, you can never wait too long to take Suboxone. You will be in full blown withdrawals, but it's an opioid and will work regardless if you wait too long.

if your not actually "addicted and you use a small amount of bupe to get high, even if its like .25mg, would it get you sick for not being actually needing it, or can you do bupe in super small amounts if thats all thats accesable. thanks -aphex

Just throwing this out there - most people take way too much their first time taking subs. With a bundle a day you shouldn't have to take more than 8mg - of course your mileage will vary, just stick to taking enough to be well not to try and get high.

If you are not physically dependent on opioids (you don't get withdrawals when you go without) then you can use buprenorphine without it causing precipitated withdrawal sickness, if that's what you're asking.

^thanks thats exactly what i was asking. thanks for the info, much appreciated! : )

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I also think most people don't even need 8mg's, although I'm sure people do. I have about a .4g a day IV habit and 2mg's of suboxone completely eliminates my WD's and has me feeling motivated to take on the day. I would recommend that anyone starts with 2mg's and gives it an hour to see if that is enough for them, if not keep going up by 1mg increments. With suboxone less is more, especially if you bring the discussion of it's full agonist metabolite nor-bupe into the discussion.

I've been reading quite a few reports of suboxone being used as an anti depressant, even in some people who have never had an opiate problem! I have been off dope for 5 days now..weened myself off from 10 bags (a bundle) to 2-3 bags, and then quit cold turkey. Had some pretty terrible nights and depression, and now on the 5th day I am starting to take a sub. I have one 8mg sub, and I am going to cut it into 6 pieces or so and see how I feel. I don't think I will experience any withdrawal symptoms from the suboxone taking it this way, (8mg over the course of 6 days...I mean doctors prescribe patients to take three (3) 8mg tabs PER DAY! That is insane! I dont care how much dope you do, you do not need that much. Take 2-4mg per day and you will feel just as good as if you took 24 mg..because Suboxone has a CEILING EFFECT....once you take a certain dose, it stops working, so they docs can prescribe oyu insanely high doses and you won't OD, you'll just build up a HUGE dependance and then keep coming back for more and eventually end up going back on dope or going to rehab for fucking suboxone. Take small amounts. Anyway, going to try this 1 tab I have to see if it boosts my mood, because I'm still dealing with PAWS and severe depression.
