I spilled my script into the water while i was leaning with a container of floss in one hand and trying to turn off the water with my pill bottle OPEN in the other hand, they hit the knob while i was pulling away and im having a panic attack right now and i dont know what to do i wont be able to do anything today now.

What can i do??

I was able to salvage a few pills, but they were wet, and later dissolved, so now i have a lumpy mass of pills in the bottle with no way to ration them out.

Whats a guy to do??

I need to know what im taking, how do you administer a powder you know??

thanks??

P.S.I have insurance, and i got the script like 3 days ago.......
Also i get 90 1mg xanax a month

Well, the only accurate way you can administer that is that, if you salvaged a few pills, add those up to get the total milligrams. Then you're going to have to make a Vodka solution and measure out the divisions.

Say you saved 4 pills, you can put 2mL of vodka in with the 4mg (you said 1mg pills) then for every .5mL ingested its 1 pill.

Vodka because the xanax wont dissolve in water.

This is kind of misleading. Did you spill your Xanax script, or do you get 90 Xanax on top of whatever you spilled?

"Wow, it just had to be her Xanax, eh? Not your antidepressants, not another medication without as much stigma or abuse potential as Xanax, but... you dropped your Xanax in the sink? I dunno... she IS young and might be in to abusing her Xanax... maybe I should give her some Klonopin or Ativan instead next time?"

^I can imagine the doctor thinking this as he's thinking if he should call another half/full refill in, and if you have a good relationship with your doctor, just let him know and try to bring in the wet pill mush, which is only useless if you don't know how many blue footballs are in that mush; if you do know how many pills you had left in the bottle that got wet, then you can easily seperate it with a few mL of vodka, and with the use of a 3-5mL oral syringe, you can administer your dose accurately and quickly.

This is all you can do.

If you do not know exactly how many pills are in the mush, you cannot dose it properly, and it is dangerous.

I always imagined losing a script of a controlled substance.... I wonder if your doc is gonna make you come in once every few days to give you like 5 or 10 pills at a time, instead of once a month or however often you visit them.

I would imagine them doing that so if the patient was just lying about it to score more pills, they would only give you a little bit at a time that it wouldn't be worth trying. In other words, they would make you work for it.

You would be screwed if you had to pay a copay each visit, or worse, no insurance.

You spilled your entire 71 remaining pills in the sink?!? 8)

Or have you either been taking way more than prescribed or didn't actually lose all your pills, only a few?

I think your options would be, as others said:
a) if you know exactly how many pills you have that are now mush you can try to dissolve them in a set amount of vodka or similar alcohol and then measure out doses using an oral syringe or other accurate measuring device
b) tell your doctor what happened and bring in the wet pills as evidence.

Odd though it sounds I did once spill 100 Valium into a sink out of a 120 count Rx. Fortunately, there was minimal water in the sink. So I just mixed the pills in with rice to absorbed the moisture. Worked out okay with minimal losses, but I feel for the OP. Very nerve wracking when it first happened to me.

This may sound silly, but I'd take a picture with your cell phone and show your doctor. Also bring in the bottle with any remaining pills/and or whatever goop you can scoop back into the bottle. Will go a long way to your credibility.

I did this once with Oxy, and my doctor believed me.

First off, do NOT turn off the tap with an open pill bottle, especially something you are dependent on.

I don't know what the laws are where you are, but here its pretty easy just to go back to the same doctor and they write "a private script" ie not registered. Another tactic could be just go to another doctor! Its pretty easy to do it in Aus...they call it doctor shopping when people do it all the time. Perhaps order off the internet. Maybe buy off someone else. Theres tons of ways to deal with this situation. Don't let panic get in the way. Be resourceful!! You are dependent on a substance, you need to learn how to get by. If all else fails get prescribed another benzo like diazepam....

sounds like alot of work, taking pictures would be a great idea, do u guys think i could go there and show them without the 20$ copay???

If you spilled your pills your insurance company is not likely to pay for them or for your doctor's visit. But surely if you need them it would be worth the expense to go to your doctor, bring him the pills and explain what happened. I would physically bring in the pills instead of just a photo. He may want to be assured that you aren't just going to keep the soggy pills and use them in addition to the new ones.

No way. The pharmacy doesn't care if you lost them. They just want their money. Funny story, in 1980 I had a script for 30 Seconal. I just got it filled and walked out to my truck. I looked in the bag and the bottle was gone. I looked all over the parking lot and store and still couldn't find them. I told the pharmacist I lost my bottle and without question he dumped 30 more in a bottle and gave it to me. I found the 1st bottle when I got home under the seat of my truck. Times have changed :)

Sorry I just thought it was relevant and was in the interest of harm reduction for the OP. People dependent on substances become highly unstable when they lose their fix to begin with...Any how I DO NOT endorse doctor shopping.....any more

I know you had good intentions and just didn't want the OP to be stuck in benzo withdrawals, it's just against the forum rules (link to BDD Guidelines can be found in my signature).

Advice on what to say to doctors to get meds is normally not allowed, however I recognize that this was originally an exception. At this point though, most of the relevant info that can be provided has been, and conversation is starting to spiral into murkier waters.
