its currently 8am i smoked about .3 last night at around 1130pm. it was my first time ever doing heroin. i was pretty fucking high for a couple hours. anyways i stay up pretty late and went to bed around 4am. i woke up at around 730am. this is very odd for me considering i usually sleep in pretty late on saturday mornings and especially since i started working full time. does this happen to anyone else?? i snort perc 30s whenever i can get my hands on em and i ususally sleep like a fucking baby so imnot really sure why i cant stay asleep.

very common. heroin will keep you awake while it's still active in your body, even though you would think that "the nod" = sleep, it just doesn't go down like that. i usually can't sleep until about 6-8 hours after using. for instance, i shot up .3 at 1am and am still up here at 8am, even though i nodded off and caught a few dope naps. feelin like im gonna crash any moment here though... usually my routine is to use in the morning around 9am, maybe again in the afternoon or maybe skip the morning and use around 3 or 5pm. that way im nice and sleepy by bedtime.

It really depends on the person, your unique brain/body, how much heroin you use, whether or not it's cut with anything stimulating like caffeine, and whether or not you are physically dependent on opioids. It's definitely an exagerration to say that "heroin will keep you awake while it's still active in your body". I never had any problems sleeping on heroin. Although difficulty sleeping is a relatively common side effect of all opioids.

It does seem strange that the OP didn't have a problem sleeping on oxycodone but did on heroin, since oxycodone is a more stimulating opioid. OP are you physically dependent on opioids (like do you get any withdrawals when you don't use them)?

It also seems strange that you got to sleep ok but then woke up, and that was 8 hours later. That seems more like you had difficulty sleeping once the heroin wore off.

I suppose if I was under oath i wouldn't have used that statement haha, but honestly every opiate user that this subject has ever come up with has told me they had trouble getting a full nights sleep while good and high on their opiate of choice. Granted, this is only about 6 people, all of which had at least a moderate addiction to opiate/opioids. But yes, it was a rather blanket statement, and you've piqued my curiosity as far as how different opiates and dosages affect sleep. I hope this thread gets rolling now...

i wouldnt say im physically dependant on opiates/opioids. i smoked the rest of the .6 i picked up last night at about 230pm today and felt fine until about 4 hours later when i puked randomly. i picked up .4 with the homie and split that with him after this and felt fine for the rest of the day. its 230am now and im not really tired. kind of weird considering perc 30s allow me to fall asleep pretty easily. definatly like heroin a lot more than percs tho the high is so much fucking better

please please please be humble with this drug. yes, heroin kicks the shit out of percocet, as well as every other opiate known to man. that's probably why most people who have ever tried it even once ended up addicted to it at some point. sounds like you already have a taste for opiates, so please be careful, or better yet, just quit now while you're ahead. there's not much more you can find out about this drug and its effects other than its dark sides, which you will experience before you even know what the fuck happened. it does not take very long to get psychologically and physically hooked to dope, maybe about 3 straight days of use. im sorry if it sounds like im trying to piss on your parade, but if I have an opportunity to be heard and possibly save someone a lot of money, time, dignity, relationships, and overall physical and emotional well-being, i'm going to take it. walk your path but for gods sake, be safe brother.

Yeah this is a pretty common side effect. Though it goes away once your body is really used to the H, just like many of the other negative side effects. It is an odd feeling though when you're nodding super hard in your chair, can barley keep your eyes open for a second, then when you decide to just go to bed since your passing out anyway.. you can't sleep. Hah. Frustrating.

From what I know, having trouble staying asleep is really common with all opiates/opioids. Never did H myself, but I do know I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep when doing codeine (I'm not physically addicted). Many other opiate users I've talked to told me the same thing. Nobody seems to know why this is happening though...

today is my 3rd day in a row using it. i see how this shit takes peoples lives over lol but yeah im done with it i got like .3 left that ill probably just save for one day when im bored outta my mind. plus its hard as fuck getting decent dope around where i live so i definatly wont be making a habit out of this shit. honestly just wanted to see what the big fuckin deal was with H

A lot of people have told me they have trouble sleeping while on opiates. I have never personally had a problem although i definitely am dependent. From the people i've spoken to dependence seems to have a lot to do with the sleeping issue.

I personally think the issue with sleeping stems from strong activation of dopamine and to a lesser extent mu receptors, as they are also activated during emergency scenarios when you have to react quickly and it would be ridiculous for your body not to be in full alert. Just a theory though, as I've always wondered about this myself.
