drug for hand tremors??

I forget what its called, but its also used as an anti-anxiety agent....

Its a non-benzodiazapene anti-anxiety agent.....


Lately my hand tremors have been bothering me a bit more than usual, and im just going to ask my doctor for a script, so a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!

Do you know what is causing your hand tremors? I would strongly recommend investigating the cause before deciding to take a drug to mask the symptom. It might be a useful clue about something that is going on with your health.

Then the first thing to do would be to try to reduce the tremors through non-drug means. Some tremors can be treated by treating of the underlying condition. For example, if someone had tremors due to anxiety, therapy for the anxiety and lifestyle changes can reduce the tremor.

People with tremors should generally avoid caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol, and any drugs that may be causing/contributing to the tremors, along with working to reduce sources of stress, anxiety, fear, anger and fatigue (as well as working on how you react to such sources). Physical therapy can also reduce some types of tremors (depending on the cause).

Drugs used to reduce tremors depend on the cause and type of tremor. For example drugs for Parkinsonian tremor include levodopa, pramipexole and ropinirole, amantadine hydrochloride and anticholinergic drugs. Essential tremor may be treated with propranolol or other beta blockers or primidone. Intention tremor typically does not respond well to medical treatment.

I'm not totally sure but could it be gabapentin? I'm pretty sure it isn't a benzodiazepam and I think it helps with tremors.

If it's a benign tremor/essential tremor which is free of any serious neurological disorder, propranolol (Inderal) which is a beta-blocker is the most effective at controlling them. Beta-blockers can also be used for social anxiety disorder.

I would highly suggest you have a doctor confirm if its an essential tremor or any other serious neurological disorder, most of the time it can be done with a simple physical examination.

Specialist doctors like brain surgeons use propranolol before surgery....and many actors/performers use it for stage fright. Personally it didn't do much for me
