I've always been like it. She throws away bills. Current ones. She's worse than me. There's nothing in our house but light bulbs and this computer which we fight over.

You're right to be that way really, inanimate objects shouldn't hold sentimentality and my house is always a mess. I work for people like you and literally the day after xmas all the unwanted stuff is on its way to the charity shop, nothing stays long enough to gather dust.
I just can't help myself. I like it, I want it, I keep it. I have boxes of crap in a garage somewhere and I haven't seen the contents for over 7 years. One day I will have my own house and unpack all my crap.

mugz, I thought that was what you were up to when I read your blog and i meant to tell you off...not that it's my place to but I know what that stuff is all about (sort of) and don't want you going down that road.
argh you've made me forget what i wanted to say.
I had to get rid of it there and then, it was a danger to my life, I stupidly took one last line before chucking it it made me comatose for at least 4 hours, not sure how close to death that one was. I woke up and I'm still super tire, I missed 4 phone calls when I was out and 2 knocks on the door. Luckily my dad entering the house and shouting hello was enough to finally wake me uo.
I'm gonna go back down for another nap now and get up when dad shold that food id ready

B&W, you know, I'm not sure how much that lot WILL go up in value unless there are weird rarities in there. I speak as a hoarder and craphound.
Not a matter of cashmoney really, I'd say. Wish I'd kept my old consoles. Much nostalgic fun to be had even if only occasionally. Must admit to also being a hoarder though so might just be my natural urge to keep stuff on display. As stuff goes though, they're definitely worth keeping.

Agreed, you can fit every single NES game in rom form and emulator to play a perfect version on your pc on a single CD. With increasing internet speeds in ten years time downloading entire catalogues of old games will take seconds and the storage medium for such a miniscule amount of data will cost pence. Plus TV's won't be fitted with the old rf port to plug them into to play, many don't have them now. Also these consoles sold millions of units in there day, everyone has one tucked away somewhere, not exactly rare. What do the old Atari's go for on ebay now? Next to nothing I bet. Sorry b&w but apart from nostalgia and sentimental value I believe they will be worthless, they practically are now.
Get an emulator for your pc and download a few roms for it if you want to relive the old games is my advice.

My missis has old cassettes, old records, boxes of the fucking things, books, all sorts of SHITE that won;t be used, heard , loooked at or listened to ever again. I don't get it.

Its sentimentality I guess. People hoard/get rid for different reasons. Trying to remember, sometimes trying to forget. I watch hoarding programs and see a bit of myself in the nutters - I try and listen when the shrinks say things like 'you dont need to keep all 30 of your grandmothers broken china vases to show you loved her. One will do. Or even better a photo of her' :D
I found all the letters my dad wrote to his parents & my mum the other day, and a lot of my granparents postcards and correspondence, some going back 50+ years, it was amazing and glad my mum kept them.
Moving said junk from place to place is called 'churning'. I do that a lot.

I'd consider a lot of those games classics, but then I grew up with them. It's different. If they're kids now then they'll consider GTAIV & Call of Duty to be classics when they're older.

on the topic of gathering junk etc, the only stuff i seem to be gathering is dvds cos theyre not worth re-selling, loads of the fuckers. used to have a big collection of car modifying mags and kerrang mags when i was younger, aint got a clue where they are now
