I've got a mate at a local organic farm shop, and he will give me overripe stuff...the avocados are just about perfect, but too soft to sell :? I think I was asking last year what to do with the fuckers when whoever it was came up with that... was it MentalKenny? No, he eats packets of noodles ;) , pontifex I think..

mental kenny?? Pontifex??? Now you're just trying to wind me up!!! :)

It was meeeee!, and its not whack. Crack is whack. No, crack is lovely.

No food after 4 pints of doombar and a couple of spliffs (thats a lot for a person of my stature) so having hot milk & whittards mint drinking chocolate stirred in, milks baby food, right? I got givenb 3 tubs of this whittards stuff, at the time I thiought it was a lame xmas present but its come into its own several time when the cupboards are bare and you cant got o bed on an empty stomach.

Sell by dates on eggs? Pah. Big con. Bet you had a nice omelette though.

I'm eating codeine. The whole box.

Couldn't be arsed tonight - ended up doing making chili with chickpeas n kidney beans. Had it with sour cream, shredded lettuce, cheese, guacamole and baked tortilla chips :)

Pretty poor photo but give you the idea :)

Get to fuck Bearlove, I could have knocked that up. Stop messing with us, what did you really have?

I had some spaghetti and made a sort of bolognese with some of my pizza topping which I've got hunners of, and quorn mince, with a healthy dose of red wine.

Podger that mailmonkey! The bottom line is, it tasted all right and filled my belly :)

Lol - No sorry that was the extent of my culinary expertise last night. Will try harder next time :)

as ya do.

That constitutes a major effort in my house.

Dammed if I do / Dammed if I don't :D - Beauty with chili is make a big pan of it and eat it for the next couple of days or freeze it for when your feeling even lazier :D

Found some king prawns reduced to a quid in Scotmid, so just rustled those up with garlic, chilli flakes, and creme fraiche, with freshly chopped tomatoes. Lush.

Bearlove your meals always look like something I'd do for a "special" meal every week or two.

Its all in the presentation a lot of it, lots of serving bowls with all the elements seperate, I tend to serve evrones meal onto the plate and hand it to them. Apart form special occasons, guests round etc, for you its a normal way of serving your meals...makes everything, even a humble chilli, look like some serious cookery. Most of your cooking is pretty serious anyway, i know you love food, and doing things right... =D

Tonight we're having roast duck, poatatoes roast in duck fat, parsnips, spinach and chard leaves, carrots, and a mixture of chard stems and leeks braised, with a red wine and seville marmalade (made by my mum) reduction to pick up the meat juices. Oh, asnd i made some bread sauce, not normally with duck, but i love bread sauce, and its a piace of piss to make....

It was a very happy duck, bred by my mate who used to keep happy pigs and supply me with gammons, chorizos, bacons, sausages....he's dong well with the ducks, and is gonna get half a dozen geese this year for christmas. We've already got one on order, he hasn't even bought the goslings yet =D

Not sure why I serve up my food like that :D - Probably because I eat a tonne of food and wouldn't be able to carry my plate when it was full from the Kitchen to dining room without tipping it all over the place. That and it looks like you have taken a bit of effort when dishing up :D

Your tea sounds great - I've never cooked duck before, something I've only eaten when I've been out and about. I really like it though so I think I'll buy some next week and follow your recipe for a meal!

Mine was a bit of a mix up of stuff - wheres my camera ...

That roast chicken looks fukkin lush, Bear. Are they homemade chapatis (or similar flatbread thingies)? Have that nice homemade look to 'em. Is the only bread I bother to make meself (when in the mood) these days. Delicious, so simple even I can't screw it up and takes minutes. So much better than shop-bought too.

Made a ma-hoo-sive pot of beef 'n' chick pea curry today. Did cheat a bit and use Patak's paste (mostly tikka masala with a bit of madras to beef it up a bit) but added a few bobs to it. Not got enough variety of spices to do a decent curry from scratch so not too bad a compromise. Used fresh Scotch Bonnets (woot! Co-Op just started selling 'em here at last) which gave it a nice bit o' heat without being sillyhot. Also chucked in a tin of Baxter's leek and potato soup I had knocking about cos all me spuds had 6" shoots sticking out of 'em. Wasn't too bad a substitute for a last minute thang really. Had it with basmati and a coupla bobz from a selection pack of Indian snacks I had in the fridge (bhaji, pakora and samosa). Was quite the feast for a cooking-for-one style o' thing. Tasty too. Maybe shoulda stuck with just water for the gravy rather than chucking a tin of tomatoes in too cos was very tomatoey. Need the vitamins though, no doubt :D

bearlove must do a fuck load of washing up :D - you are putting out some very nice meals.. you've also got the art of taking good food pictures locked down as well. colt dan has better fanny cradock era plates though.

Yeah they had just been cooked (not by me though :D) but home made and fresh from the stone. I don't often make my own though - mind you I make my own pizzas and pasta from time to time.

I'm sure I've got a Fanny Cradock plate somewhere - Ill dig it out on my next round. I prefer all white plates etc (as you can see from my usual photos).

I do use the D90 - nice camera. Looking forward to seeing your crispy pancakes and beans.

I used to absolutely adore Findus crispy pancakes. Used to have 'em every year for me b'day treat dins. Had 'em again fairly recently for the first time in donkey's. Very disappointed I was :(

Used to make 'em from scratch sometimes as a nipper and they worked surprisingly well. Might even have another crack at 'em one of these days cos they have potential to be pretty epic <3

Just munched a steaming bowl of Alpen raspberry, apple and raisin porridge. Is bloody good porridge. Although terrible portions. One sachet is just not quite enough whilst two is just a tad too much 8)
