I've just been puzzling about the Lounge. The exact same people are still in there, posting the exact same stuff they were when I first joined. Don't they get bored of it?

I think I've figured it out, here's my theory. American BLers on the whole are extremely boring and dull. A bit like Americans in real life. Amongst the masses of boring and dull there are the cavalier few who consider themselves witty, or funny, or interesting. Please note 'consider themselves'; the bar is not high.

So this minority group gathers and puddles in the Lounge, and due to a complete lack of atmosphere, no evaporation takes place. So still they all are 5 years later, posting the same memes, and the same posts, and the same hilarious comments and the same hilarious responses. Delighting in and marvelling at each others rapier wit. Its quite sweet really.
 
lolz u so funny MM, you're like the funniest. God this place is crazy, I love it so much I've been posting the same stuff 24/7 for the last two weeks, I don't want to go to work tomorrow, I want to stay and post it all again, and again. Ah this place is so great. Fuck yeah America!

Wait, let me post the same crappy nude photo I've been posting for the last 12 years, and you all send the exact same comments back, again. That sounds like fun.

Go to bed MM. EADD needs you bright eyed and bushy tailed, as does your adoring public.

I tend to agree really. Is somewhat baffling what all the fuss is about. There are some entertaining bobz here and there - and I must admit I have dabbled now and then - but the dross drowns most of that out mercilessly. I'd sometimes like to like the place - handy when wasted and noone else is up here - but is a disctinct culture clash mostly. I just don't get most of the threads. Don't get why it's so repetetive. Don't get the emphasis on being as much of a prick as possible to others.

Quite like some of the word game kinda threads though. And there are occasionally genuinely funny threads. But ya, not somewhere I'd ever be likely to call home. Which is probably for the best. Some fine posters disappear into the Lounge sometimes and seem to turn into bellends surprisingly quickly. Others manage to restrict their bellendery to where it belongs and manage to function normally elsewhere though.

I'm sure EADD is as baffling, dull and seemingly pointless to most Rats though, to be fair.
 
^ do you know what would be funny right now, like really funny?

If you posted a picture of a bench. Cos that would be really funny. It would be like saying, I'm going to post something like totally unrelated to what ever it is you're talking about.

Go on, it will be really funny.

You're still doing that, right? I haven't seen you do it for about 5 years but i hope you are. Sooooooo funny!

lololol knock you're so funny. That could be like, your thing. You could post a pic of a calculator every now and then, and when you do we'll all be like lololololol. It will be so funny every single time you do it over the next ten years. God this place is so crazy and fun.

Anyway gotta go to bed now, I've got the dentist tomorrow. i'm gonna spend $10,000 on getting fake teeth. Fuck yeah America! God bless y'all.

take out "the lounge" and replace it with "eadd" and you might make the exact same argument about this place. as robert burns so wisely observed:

i came in here to explain that mugz and debaser have both been banned from bluelight temporarily (7 days). it's an attempt to remove fuel from this fire and get us back to focusing on the site's core mission of hr (or, in your guys' case, yank-bashing :) ).

Perhaps a shame in both cases. But it is what it is as they say.
