Hey there everyone, first timer here to these types of forums an such so along with my question ill say a quick hello/ intro. Im an 18 yr old male, and ive been using drugs on and off for about 4 years now and really enjoy all the interesting and helpful information forums such as this offer. Im gonna try my hardest to keep from becoming a wall flower here lol. So here it is, recently (early jan 2013) i had my first go at IV use of any drugs outside of a dr office. AFOAF gave me a 10mg shot of dilaudid, and I LOVED IT. Im actually suprised that since than ive been able to control myself and have only used about 8 times IV. So after a few tangos with different doses of dilaudid, i decided to see what else i could inject and tonight another FOAF had some extracted, pretty damn pure ritalin. Ive had my run in with just about every stimulant, opiate, benzo, and phsyc drugs so i said hey why not try IV. So tonight me and my buddy decided hey lets give it a go (he is a undergrad nursing student and this was his first time IV anything btw) so we both got off and each have had a few hits in since about 6:00 pm tonight. Im getting a little bit worried though, being that i am a noobie to IV use and usually have a hardened veteran do it for me, ive had trouble getting it in my own veins. Well this last shot i did about 30 mins ago i had to do into the top of my hand because the crooks of my arms are so damn sore from earlier. Well idk if i either injected too fast and pulled the needle out of the vein mid push but i instantly developed a LARGE lump at my Injection site. i rubbed it away and held it above my head to kinda help it a bit but im just curios if i should be worried or just let it ride out. Thanks in advance for the answers and sorry for the Short story of a question thats the ritalin talking lol.

Welcome to BL. First off I'm going to say that this is a topic that had been covered hundreds of times. So next time before making a new thread use the search engine as the chances are it will have been answered before. Use a hot compress on the site and give it a couple of days for the swelling to go down. If it doesn't and gets red and hot to the touch, chances are it is infected. This is when you should seek medical care. If you do not you may develop an abscess.

Please, please, please, please DO NOT IV RITALIN! It's plain no good, there's many cases with unfortunate results from people trying to IV this.

Just plug it. Very very high bioavailability, gets into your blood stream quick. That should be more than enough for you.

sorry i know afoaf being used for yourself is prohibited but in this case i was referring to a friend of a friend lol.

update. After getting a few hours of sleep last night, the site is still a bit swollen. It is also very tender and sore so i wonder if maybe the tissue/tendon may be affected. gonna do what i can to reduce it.

You should seek medical attention soon if the swelling doesn't diminish at all. It's definitely not something you want going untreated, will become a mess. I'm no expert with this, but not treating it definitely seems like a bad idea to me.

And again, you or your friend, please don't IV methylphenidate. Embrace your rectum, plug it up with drugs. I recently binged on ritalin for a week plugging nonstop the whole time (stopping to sleep though). The fast onset was very pleasant and the bioavailability was high enough I could cut my dose down by more than half. 4-5 for oral to 1.5-2 rectal. It's all absorbed within 10min and peaks by 20-30min. This should be enough to satisfy. Methylphenidate has a significantly higher BA with rectal than oral.

Check for increased swelling and radiation of heat from the injection site as those two signs indicate infection. You can trace a line around the lump to monitor growth.

If it grows or is hot to the touch, seek medical attention for an antibiotic regimen before an abscess that can't be treated with a normal course of antibiotics.

another update. the said iv site has not grown/radiated heat yet, ive been doing my part keeping it clean and such. I tried again today to give myself an IV dose of rit, idk what it is but by myself i can hit a vein usually the 2nd try, but when i did it in front of my buddy i couldnt hit a vein for the life of me. my needle is begenning to dull out so im gonna go take a hot shower to get my veins popping, try one more good IV dose, than throw this needle out and refrain from using IV for a while.

my needle is begenning to dull out

That is probably a big part of your problem. Seriously never ever re-use your needles. It will be much harder to hit a vein and will destroy your veins.

ya i now realize that i should have done a hell of a lot more research before self injecting. The friend that first introduced me to it did it with a fresh clean rig and we just reused that one. I actually had a dangerous run in my 3 or 4th time IV. I thought i had watched him enough to go ahead and give it a whirl, (mind you this was before i researched). i tried the same spot he always did me in and didnt get and flashback, so i tried a different vein that popped more, its was in my wrist. first mistake was that, i didnt know that the veins in your wrist can move and are so close to other things such as tendons and shit. so i tried a few times there, no go. decided hey ive got great veins in my feet ill try that....and omg horrid mistake. i pushed so hard on my rough feet (i wear work boots all do so they are all calused over) and snapped the damn needle off under my skin. And that everyone is the day i realized that IV drug use should not be taken lightly and is quite dangerous when done inproperly

Another thing while im here. I just hopped outta the shower and am about to cook up my last shot that im going to use this needle for. is there any way anyone would recommend i do to make it as quick/simple/painless as possible. its quite dull and looks like its begenning to bow. If noone has any advice i guess ill go see if my buddy has anymore i could use. thanks. PS: if im in anyway using this site improperly, or such please let me know cause i am new to these sorts of sites. thanks

Please don't use that needle :(

if it is beginning to bend, you don't want it to break off in you, even if you are going for surface veins.

Plug it.

Please.

There's nothing you can do to make using an incredibly dull needle more "quick/simple/painless"... Get a fresh needle for Christ's sake.. you shouldn't have used it to the point of it "beginning to bow" anyway.

PS: if im in anyway using this site improperly, or such please let me know cause i am new to these sorts of sites.

Sticking that horrible dull needle in your arm, is using the site improperly.. that being said, we have no idea how good your technique is because we can't see you inject fist hand, but it doesn't sound good and I'd suggest ceasing all IV drug use at the very least until you can learn a lot more...

You've already listed a shit load of incredibly dangerous practices you've done while attempting to IV and I seriously fear for you if you keep doing this with such little knowledge of harm reduction.

OP, in case you don't know what plugging is, it means administering it rectally. You could even just use the syringe you have if you can properly remove the needle. Let us know if you'd like more info on plugging.

IV ritalin = ultimate vein destroyer, I did not lose a single vein IVing subutex for years. Ritalin I killed like 4 in 2 months.

IV ritalin rush = 10 minutes, effects, 1 hour? comedown = horrible

Rivals coke in the vein killer aspect. Find something more usefull, I'm ashamed I wasted some veins on this. You will regret it, so many other drugs much more worth it IV.

Ritalin IV is fun for a few minutes then 1 hour stimulation coupled by hours of horrible anxiety.

Just do coke or amphetamine instead, at least you will think it was worth it afterward.

Trust me when I say you will regret doing all kinds of useless drugs IV like I did when you need to spend 1 hour to try and find a vein that works, if you even do.
Practice harm reduction while saving yourself lots of fun for later. Don't IV useless pills like I did, you will regret it. I promise.

ya since the last post, i didnt IV, i simply took the plastic safety and ultimately needle off and rammed it up ma boomer, (plugged) i use poor technique and practices because those are what i have observed and learned, not because its how i do things. if it was up to me id have a full bag of clean rigs, but im an occasional IV user for now at least. thanks for the help and concern folks

IV Ritalin is shitty IMO because its just as (or almost as) addictive as IV cocaine but not even close to being as euphoric. It's kind of funny because with cocaine you chase a rush, but with methylphenidate you chase the idea of a rush, because you shoot it, and the drug just hits you instantly, feels like cocaine, but more like how coke feels about two minutes into the shot, after the bellringer's over. IDK, sorry for my not so articulate description of this drug (the same goes for dexmethylphenidate as well, the only difference IME is the potency with focalin and Ritalin).

One reason first of all that you couldn't shoot into the same vein is because much like cocaine and meth (and many other stimulants), methylphenidate causes pretty harsh vasoconstriction. Even a newbie will only get two, maybe three shots out of the same vein before it constricts to the point where its practically impossible to inject into. The 'bump' however, was definitely the result of missing part of your shot. You should be careful, I know you said it was pure extracted methylphenidate, but I'm pretty sure that unless you are also using a micron filter, the common ethanol extraction technique that most use for Ritalin/Concerta still yields a product that contains some really nasty binders in it. Ritalin is just one of those drugs that is known for being very dangerous to inject due to inactive ingredients, along with its (methylphenidate's) highly addictive nature.
