Stimulants and sweating/body odor.

I've noticed when I take stims I sweat a lot, and the sweat as this peculiar stench to it. Not like any BO I normally have. At first I noticed it when using a lot of methylphenidate, and figured it was from that in particular. I took some adderall today and noticed the same funky smell.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any insights to what exactly causes this smell?
 
The smell of sweat is caused by lifestyle... what you eat, how often you exercise, etc. It's different than your usual BO because the stims make you sweat more intensely. I don't think the drugs themselves cause the smell because sweat is not one way that stim metabolites are excreted from the body.
 
I'm not sure. This smells completely different from if I were to go out exercising and work up a heavy sweat. There's a distinct difference when I dose these stims.

There's something weird at play here. Not even in my sweatiest sweat in my life have I produced this funky stench.
 
It is a very common side effect of stimulants....and has been discussed many times before. Some people even say they can "smell meth" on people that have been using for a while. Dehydration may have something to do with this as well. I'm going to move this over to Basic Drug Discussion.

Alright. I'm still curious how exactly the stimulant causes this and the like. I remember when I first tried stims I was taking vyvanse and didn't notice this at all. Though I was living in a colder climate at the time and wasn't as prone to sweating. I don't see any reason why it in particular wouldn't cause the same effect.
 
yeah this is very common on stimulants - i can't explain the chemical reasoning behind why it occurs, but i think it's something due to your endocrine system being sped up and your thermoregulatory system also going up along with it. the stimulant you consume in itself (as a chemical) is excreted through your sweat hence the different smell. it's a little nasty but can be covered up by using deodorant (obviously) - i find theres one that contains salt and doesn't smell of anything, i put that one on first and then cover ontop of that with a one from nivea which really stops all b/o and excess sweating.
 
This particular stench is so odd, i kinda dont want to cover it up. It's not that often I get to produce this stench, would be a shame to let it pass by without being smelled. You know, it's that natural trend with your stench smelling good to yourself. Quite a funky stench, this is.

Are you sure the stims can be excreted through sweat? Someone else in this thread said they don't do that.
 
Anything that passes partially through urine will also pass out of the body as sweat to some extent.

Contamination of hair by drugs in sweat is well documented (7, 28–33), and hair-testing laboratories have different methods for removing external contamination (29, 34, 35). Our results demonstrate that MAMP may be present in sweat within 2 h of oral ingestion and may be excreted for >1 week after cessation of multiple uses. It is possible for MAMP in sweat to become incorporated into hair during this period of time.

Based on our results, clinicians who wish to monitor individuals in drug treatment programs can expect to detect a cumulative dose of MAMP as small as 40 mg with a weekly sweat patch. For individuals taking a total dose of 80 mg MAMP, one would expect weekly patches worn during administration to be positive but patches applied in the weeks after drug cessation to be negative using SAMHSA criteria. These data provide a scientific database for interpreting MAMP and AMP sweat test results and contribute to improved clinical monitoring of MAMP use.

Yes it definitely is. Some of the metabolites do very much make there way out through sweat. That's why so many people complain RCs like 4-MMC make them smell weird when they are on it and sweat.

Of course it's mainly through urine which I imagine has a different smell too when on a stimulant. Never really tried smelling my urine though..
 
4-mmc you could smell a mile away if someone had a race on. They would smell like they hade dive into a freezer full of fish. It was fucking disgusting that smell, so hard to get rid off too.
 
Adderall definitely makes me sweat more, but it's like my normal BO x3 (rotten onions). There's nothing particularly "funky" about it, it's just gross. On the other hand, I knew this kid growing up that was diagnosed with all kinds of disorders and took a ridiculous amount of meds, including ritalin. His BO smelled HORRENDOUS, sort of like diarrhea mixed with chemicals
 
No one is smelling the actual drugs, you're smelling ammonia, for one stimulants cause your body to be under stress, and when under stress your body produces ammonia, and coupled with the fact that you probably aren't eating properly your body is unable to convert it to urea. So to detox the excess ammonia your body sweats it out.
 
yes an onion smell, once you know it you'll never forget it, who knows what causes it and just what finds it offensive, it is a pheremone odor of sorts i would imagine, definateley not related to my "normal b.o."......btw if your smelling this watch your intake of stims.....intake adds up exponentially over time i believe and can facilitate "episodes" of a very tramuatizing nature.......do be cautious.....remember one can always have to much of a good thing
 
Great post, sorry for bumping but I had to exercise my right to do so to illustrate that this is a good example of an excellent meth post.

Interesting responses. Since my sense of smell is hugely amplified, distorted and mostly unreliable on meth, i always thought the savage smell of sweat which torments me each time, was more the high and perceptions, but perhaps your sweat does smell worse due to facts.

Mine takes on an oily smell and reminds me of an oil slick or motor oil. I used to think others could smell it then thought its paranoia then my mom told me once i stink from across the room.

Who knows. Since MDMA passes mostly unchanged via urine, making it reusable like some never ending drug supply im glad i never heard of when using, maybe meth does the same via sweat?

I recommend licking up sweat to see if this has any effect. Let us know?

Not gonna happen sorry ;)

If anyone remembers 4-MMC you should remember the wonderful smell it caused, you smelled like a fish after a while, and it was extremely pronounced too.

Now I'm gonna have a nice long shower to get rid of this horrible amphetamine odour.
