I have actually kinda determined, at least around the bay area, you can sort of be identified by what drug you do in accordance to your appearance.
Like if you are a junkie, (my best friend is, he looks like one so much, we went to a new walgreens pharamacy and as we were walking up, without saying anything, the pharmacist just asked us what gauge we needed; lolz) typically nicer clothes that are dirty and unkempt. Seens a lot of opiate users dress in nice dress shirts and dress pants, but usually they are identified by how the clothes are moderately dirty, but not too bad and aren't ripped or destroyed at all. But moderate dirt or stains. Usually will have longer hair too (maybe thats just California), but will also walk kinda slow. I have also scientifically concluded the deeper they are into withdrawals, the slower they will walk. My friend was taking a ridiculously long time to cross a two lane street that was so narrow, it could have been only 7 feet or 8 apart. Yeah, that's my expiernce with junkies. (Also, I'm not being a dick to my friend though it sounds like it; he dicks around with me a lot more than I do cause he's older than me and sort of a mentor in a way. I didn't put him into legal trouble by saying his name.)
As a tweaker and ex-MDMA user, and with growing experience with crack cocaine, I defnitely identify more with tweakers. Which I am not proud of, but everyone knows that people who say they don't like to label themselves are always extremely tredny and herd like (the phrase has been robbed) and by bands that always turn out to fail. But around my area, methamphetamine use seems to be a taboo of the underworld. A huge majority of drug arrests are always meth, I think I've seen heroin possession once on the paper. But around here, it seems to be a tool used by demons, or if you like fantasy, people who dabble in Necromancy or other black magic. I don't blame em, I have seen meth make a lot of my friends exhibit psychotic behavior they would never do. Obviously I have myself, to large extremes also, but seeing it happen to someone else and your sober, makes you realize how fucked up of a subculture meth is related to crack cocaine or heroin/opiates.
Back on topic, which is related to privious, if the tweaker has a house, then it will be clean spic n span, and will nto wear a shirt if it's hot. If not they wear extremely clean clothes and for some reason every methhead with a house I have met also still has their teeth. Also the house will always be actually in good shape (trailer parks are a dif story). But the homeless tweakers honestly, a majority of them look so similar, it's kinda creepy that they almost look like an army of zombies. I shit you not. Always look like their in their 40's or 50's, different teeth missing, but never a full set missing, extremely large, opened eyes, bags under their eyes, wrinkles (this is a big one, cause men seem to get like major crows feet by their eyes). They almost always have different layers of clothes, even if they want to take them off, but if they ain't at the shelter, then they are aparanoid their shit will get stolen(I don't blame them).
Oh and lastly, the homeless ones, almost will always be seen riding a biclye as transportation( the local pawn shop actually gets pretty much all business from bike selling/ buying, looks more like a bike shop, and I know the owners also do meth, lol)
Yeah in actuality meth is actually an extremely underrated and underreported or underestrimated, problem on the west coast. California is the most populated stated, right by Mexico and it's brave and majestic cartel professionally trained cooks to deliver only the finest quality unlike stupid white trash cooks. And the main drug of choice, hard one, is waaaaaaay meth. I know people that have done meth with only smoking pot once or twice. Crack is mostly an urban problem, or at least abundant in lower income cities like Richmond or Vallejo, but meth is of abundance everywhere. In the cities, in the most hillbilly towns with only like 400 population (seriously) to upper middle class-somewhat rich/bourgeoisie towns such as mine.
Meth is the only drug also that seems to make me look despertely for more on the floor, for hours. Not even crack make me do that. I have tested so many different things I thought was cryzz on foil, but realyl weren't. Only once I believe and it was not nearly big enough to get me a decent hit. I will even look in places I know, that I know, could not have by logic rules some meth in its permiter. I will be so tweaked I will actually make myself believe impossible feats, such as potential shards that fell out and bounced over to where they really never could have, and desperately look for hours. And I will be extremely tempted to continue again if I stop myself. I believe it's commonly said, that would be the an example of the definition of insanity ya know, doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results each time.
It's the only drug that I know of at all that can make a human being stay up for 2 weeks straight, or go a month straight with barely only a naps and naps that last like 5 minutes. Only drug that I know to have the most ROA's. Basically, if it gets in any open part of your body, you will get high. I've put it into coffee and had wonderful results. I am not 100 percent sure, but it's commonly accepted in the meth community that you can't overdose on it. You can get pipedrunk, but I have seen people with little tolerance slam almost a teenth at a time and not even get pipedrunk. But I have never heard of a meth overdose, unlike cocaine. Or more so for heroin many overdoses I have seen with opiates, excluding myself.

But yeah, where I am, the drug using community can be identified by other social groups, american culture is quite familiar with the drug culture these days. But there are also defnitely noticeable and distinct different subcultures based on which drug used.

People who use MDMA/Ecstasy usually are people that are into going to raves or dubstep/EDM; usually dress akin to emo clothing style.

But whenever I see a argument or feud between two meth users, the outcome is always unknow. Seriously I have seen other meth heads do the most fucking random and weird as fuck shit ever, such as arguing with yoru grandma (who uses meth also) and then pulling out your dick, when you have a bit of family company over too, and proceeding to grab and wave it right in front of her while psychotically laughing and telling her to suck it, disregarding the fact you're doing it in front of her children. But I've seen the same person construct the most beautiful and articulate wooden spice rack, painted,and given to her as a present. Meth fucks with your head more than any other drug I've seen, and so is considered to be the hardest drug or worst possible to take/be addicted to it. People give it a demonic presence (I don't blame them, the ones that have snapped seem like real life agents of satan and seem to bring influencing evil force powers that affect those around them)
Anyways, tweakers, if with a home, will always be wearing nice clothes, and will change everyday. Also, they will have their teeth. The homeless ones, will look like human zombies, all around 50's, missing a number of teeth, but never all (probably you lose as much as you can before you don't have the dental strength to chew and consume human flesh any more), have big bulging eyes with bags and circles, and will transport primarily by bicycle. There is even somewhat of a bike economy amongst them, (I've traded a bike for cryzz before; exetremly more convenient than you think to have a car huh?) They will usually be out more during night, but not on main roads. More by the river and unpopular places away from cops, but nevertheless at times when cops patrol most and expect most danger. And finally, their behavior is completely unpredictable. If you have the chance to see a major tweaker in his habitat, and observe him while yourself is not on drugs, then you will see and remember some of the most funniest, random, craziest, probably fucked up, maybe dangerous shenanigans you will ever see.

But if you have, yeah meth is an extremely huge problem amongst the west coast, and I know for a fact that it is quite underreported and underestimated by the media. And the media reports on meth usually get only 1/4th of info correct. Like most meth is not made in America at all anymore. That stopped way in the early 2000's when they finally put major restrictions on pesudo ephedrine OTC pills. A vast majority indeed comes from the mexican cartels. But they in actuality seem like they are trying to make it seem much less prevalent and very real it is.
