is DMT orally active in high doses without MAOIs?

I've heard mention that in high doses (many times more mgs compared to the amount needed if using with MAOI) DMT becomes active without mao inhibition. Of course i am aware this is not common practice, and i don't need reinforcement that this isn't practical, just curious of pharmacological efficacy.

Any truth to this? I've heard two references, one individual claiming to have done this multiple times and another was an online mention.

If this is possible, any description of effect compared to the traditional aya exp?

My question would be: if ketamine becomes more physical-feeling from the larger quantity necessary relative to the mental effects yielded and also more metabolite being present... is something similar true for oral DMT? Is the feeling of an elephant sitting on your chest amplified? Theoretically does the cardiovascular strain get incredibly big? (I think so)

That is a pretty interesting way of looking at it. I would just think of like, why waste the DMT when other ROA's are active with using less product.

Yes it is wasteful, but it was explicitly asked not to discuss that issue. ;)

About the pharmacology, the kinetics to be more specific: because your MAO enzymes munch on DMT so quickly your only way is to flood and saturate them for a certain period. Smoking does have the advantage of having it arrive in your brain so quickly but when you eat it it takes a while. So I think it could get very tricky at what point you can get enough DMT to survive the way to your brain and flood it to get a long enough effect but WITHOUT it being so much that you black out or flip out. It seems a little ridiculous, but that is still not the same as impossible.

Thanks for the response solipsis.

What do you think if one was to smoke in conjunction with eating a large dose...? Would smoking dmt effect the receptors in a way which would allow the mao to saturate more readily when digesting more dmt? Excuse my ignorance if this would make no difference :-P

On a similar note, are there other herbs or compounds which could bombard these receptors to help the dmt become active BUT are also not mao inhibiting herbs/compounds...?

I've been considering taking a passion flower tincture with 100 mg of dmt orally. Is there anyone that has tried something similar? I'm curious as to how the trip is affected.

NO. When DMT was first discovered or shall i say synthesized, Stephen Szára tried taking it orally with no effect in doses up to a gram. Then they realised it needs a MAOi inhibitor ormp must be injected/smoked.

I would bet that weaker MAOIs like rhodiola, SJW, passiflora et cetera would do nothing to activate oral DMT. I think you need either a pharmaceutical like moclobemide or the harmala alkaloids.

^ Yeah I certainly can't see something like passionflower being enough to make oral DMT active. I've taken extracts before and during psychedelic experiences in the past and it did nothing to alter the trips effects really, I think at the very least you'd need an extremely high dose.
