Missed injection - IV diphenhydramine

so anyone know how to get rid of the sore feeling in your arm when u miss and muscle it. i just been rubbing it like a normal miss but this shit is killing me more and never missed with benedryl.

I made your post into it's own thread since the thread you posted in was 2 years old and only about a loosely related topic. Here in Basic Drug Discussion we encourage people to make their own threads when there is no recent thread on the subject and I think you'll get more replies this way.

Are you talking about injecting the pills or the liquid IV ampoules? If pills, do you filter?

First thing to do is apply hot wet cloths to the area.

Then you need to monitor it for signs of infection. How long has it been since you missed the shot? Is it swollen? Was it painful right away or is it getting worse?
 
when you say you missed and "muscled it" do you mean skin popping (SC) or IM?

Either way both are potentially dangerous, i would have to agree with what swimmingdancer said, keep an eye on the missed shot (you said it was benadryl so i resume it was a pill), i don't want to unnecessarilly alarm you but make sure there aren't any signs of it getting worse like an abscess forming.
 
shot it with heroin. my friend shot me up long ago when i first started and missed and it hurt but it was only a small portion that hurt and i was able to rub it and get rid of any infection, although now if i push on that skin hard enough there is a dull pain, someone said it might just be celulitus but whatever it is it is not getting worse and i really have to push on it to feel the pain, so not sure if i should even bother trying to fix that considering its not swollen or red or anything. but today is when i missed on my other arm . so not too long ago, so it hasn't had a chance to get infected, so i guess i will find out in the morning. luckily i never had to deal with an abscess, but i never had my entire arm hurt so i feel like this time is worse than the time before i missed. but i will try a hot towel, makes sense, i don't know why i never thought about it. good thing tomorrow was the day i was planning on quitting, just wish i didn't miss the last time i decided to shoot up.

oh and with all that writing i forgot to say yes i filter, and i just take the unisom pills and poke them and drain the liquid and mix it in with water and h.

Do you mean a cotton filter or a <2 micron syringe (wheel) filter? You really shouldn't be shooting pills without a micron filter it will damage your veins and lungs far far more than the H alone, and makes a miss much more dangerous.
 
You do realize that IVing benadryl has no special effect beyond consuming them orally, right? Damn, at least do some research before you let your disgusting needle fetish send you to the ER having your arm amputated.
 
IVing diphenhydramine ? Are you serious ? Why in the fuck would you do that. I'm not trying to be a dick but there is absolutely no point WHATSOEVER in doing that.
 
If you missed the shot and notice things getting any worse, really the best thing you can do for yourself is to get to the ER where it can be properly diagnosed, and treated. Normally I would close a thread like this since we can only really speculate until you report back on how you're doing. However the other discussion going on is also good HR advice so I will leave it open.

Just be sure to seek medical attention if need be, and get back to us as soon as you know what's going on.

You can't have "ZERO" reason to inject it. Zero is a number, and therefore is grammatically incorrect. Would you say "There is still TWELVE reason to inject ..."? Exactly.
Furthermore, I can attest to the fact from both person use and administering it to patients that intravenous diphenhydramine can provide a powerful and pleasurable rush, which is enjoyed by many. So don't go bashing people without first properly examining the subject in question.

Hot water bottles, as hot and as often as possible, an ace bandage to keep pressure on the area, and antibiotics(preferably scripted after culturing the abscess) is the general medical treatment for IV misses.

If I was going to be shooting something with my heroin, it would most definitely be cyclizine and not benadyl, but I've never got shit out of IV diphenhydramine, and yes I've had it administered that way....
 
If you have a painful red spot resulting from a miss of a solution made made from diphen pills, you have to go to the doctor. You are at a good risk of developing an abscess and losing your arm if you don't treat it, or worse. Don't worry, they will look at it, if it progressed far enough, drain it and bandage you up, stick you on antibiotics.

I've gone in to treat an abscess I had and it wasn't bad. I was pretty fucking close to dying though, delirious with fever, so they had to give me IV antibiotics on top of the oral. Don't let it get that bad.

I'm going to close this, because you have to get to a hospital and get it checked out by a doctor. Spending time on the internet asking us is going to make your eventual treatment more invasive.
