Man, see when I had an argument with that Tommie Sunshine character on Twitter (he's some sort of producer from America, I'm guessing shitey dub step a la Skrillex as that's what he was defending. He was the guy in the Mixmag article from the 'Great EDM Debate' thread) he was trying to claim that dubstep was white music for white kids that didn't have any roots in black music the way house/techno does (he wasn't meaning it in a racist way to be fair, he was saying that this is why American kids are into it & not into techno. His point was still an absolute fucking mile-out though). That was my reply: Where do you think "dub" comes from you fucking idiot?

Thanks, I have made a couple of posts now and don't really have much more to say. Except for that this time round I'm going to try my hardest to keep my personal shit out of the public forums, there are better places to deal with all that and the break taught me that amongst other things.

It kind of is (as in, that's the crowd it draws) & I guess that was Sunsheyeeyeeeeen's point but to shout it doesn't have roots in black music is like trying to claim it just came out of thin air & proper dubstep didn't exist before it.

same for me, I went to 3rd base for the early DMZ raves, I lost all love of d&b when I first heard Loefah - Horror show I got hooked on early UK dub sound but sadly it went to shit too (evil skrillex)
It is dubstep (dub from dub reggae) & step (like in garage) NOT robot music for teenage kids on shady stuff they think is MDMA, yet is some drug stew of BZP & bashed meph.
