For real ...I see all these threads closed by random people and who in the FUCK has the right to do this for real? People will post as they GOD DAMN WELL PLEASE. be it about anything their mind desires who the FUCK has the right to CLOSE it LOOOOOOOL people just make me laugh...so controlling that they have to close "threads" on a drug forum hahahah I can't even stop laughing :P

u mad?

And probably because they broke the rules that they agreed to when they signed up. Try being a mod, you'll get a whole lot of shit for doing a whole lot of good.

blman1013, my post was intended to inject a little levity into the discussion. i'm sorry you didn't see it that way.

only bluelight staff can close a thread so i'm not sure who the 'random people' to whom you refer are?

the fact is that bluelight forum staff have a great deal of discretion when it comes to closing threads and there are many reasons a thread might be closed.

instead of posting a vague complaint in this forum, if you feel any thread has been closed erroneously a polite pm to the forum staff making a case for its reopening usually does the trick. or you can use the report button (

) to bring any post to the attention of the forum staff.

finally, you say "People will post as they GOD DAMN WELL PLEASE". i'm afraid that is simply not the case. the staff of bluelight, per the blua "reserves the right to publish, edit or delete contributed content as it sees fit."

the simple fact is that we can close any thread, any time for any reason we choose. but we don't do that because we're lovely.

the tl;dr is, there's a process. if you're unhappy, use it.

you've been a member of this community for about 10 seconds. bluelight's been around for over 10 years. stick around. you might learn to enjoy it.

welcome to bluelight.

^ that's a pretty cynical post, somewhat drenched in loungefail.

the fact is that 100% of the bluelight staff are volunteers who have, and continue to, put a great deal of hard work and effort into keeping discussion on track and ensuring that bl stays focused as much as possible on its hr mission. it's a thankless task and it very often involves taking abuse from members who seem to be focused on little more than themselves...

bl staff are human and we all make mistakes. when that happens, a polite message asking us to reconsider normally does the trick. throwing a tantrum like a 5 year old generally does not. i've personally apologized for mistakes made as well as overturning warnings and infractions and temporary bans that, on review, were inappropriate.

this implication that the staff of bluelight are some infallible, intransigent group simply does not jive with the demonstrable reality of the site.

if you don't like how the site is run. get involved in a civil manner. if you can't find a way to do that, perhaps bluelight isn't for you - nobody forced you to participate and you're free to leave any time you like.

that was a well tempered and reasonable response. i want to say that just remember that you can hurt people's feelings by censoring them. people like to come to places like this to emote and talk and blow off steam. mean mods really aren't cool. be nice. just wanted to get that off my chest.

^ there's no guarantee that one won't get ones feelings hurt on bluelight and if anybody is that sensitive then the entire internet, let alone bluelight, is probably not for them.

it's important to the mission of bluelight to maintain some degree of focus - otherwise we just become reddit or 4chan or yet another sprawling, blurred, broad site. that's not what we're shooting for.

there are plenty of places for people to emote and blow off steam on bluelight. there are also many places where emoting and blowing off steam are inappropriate and distracting and we're well within our rights to take action in case of the latter.

mean mods really aren't cool? i agree. show us where it's happening and we'll do something about it.

okay.

i don't really agree with the OP but i can understand how people get upset when they feel censored.

^ if they're posting on-topic in a constructive manner and adding to a thread in progress, i could perhaps understand somebody getting upset at the thread being closed. again, va polite pm to the forum staff making a case for its reopening usually does the trick.

if somebody posts off-topic or is derailing and their post is edited or it precipitates the closure of a thread which is already well off-track, then i have little sympathy. we're free to close it. they're free to get upset :)

Haha Real Talk. He said, "I run this bitch"

As for you blman, try not to have an aneurysm over a mf closed thread. Ol boy's just doin his job, & actually being exceptionally more professional than I would ever be, especially after reading that belligerent stupid ass shit. Have some class. How about coming at the admin w/a little respect, & askin what the problem was? The dude seems very reasonable. But yea pump the brakes on all that temper tantrum type shit, big dog. No one comes here to vent, instead eat some benzos, calm down, and join the convo.

yeah so you can learn how to shoot heroin

but stay on topic dammit

Your right in the sense, that the majority of ppl in today's world are way too sensitive. However, let's think logically just for a moment. Firstly, this isn't the place to "emote" nor blow off steam. Secondly, every one of this mod's replies were not only professional & warranted, but polite as well. Finally, I must ask, was this little exchange bothering you enough that you felt the need to "get it off your chest" bro?

certainly not the mods and admins

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!

well, it's been a week and the op has chosen not to engage in this discussion, nor has he responded to a private message inviting him to revisit this discussion...

Honestly I'd like to thank the mods here, they seem to face much more abuse than they get thanks and for the most part they do a fantastic and largely unseen job.

As a message board I can understand why some people, especially newcomers, might think any or every part of bluelight is just a place for chat, but to a huge number of people this place is an invaluable TOOL, rather than a social hookup.

I personally know about 10 people who use this site on a very regular basis, have done for years, yet haven't even registered an account because they see it as a cornucopia of invaluable information over anything else. When dealing with content provided almost entirely from the public, keeping a board like this, of this scale, a valuable and useful source of help and information is HARD WORK!

So thank you mods, and keep on truckin'!
