2 cans into a 4Pack of cheap polish lager, karpacki is the brand, 4 cans for a 5er, cheapest decent tasting deal about :/

No such thing as cheap lager these days. £5/four pack is about as good as it gets. Every now and then I spot a nice lookin price only to discover it's fukkin 2.3% or summat ridiculous :\

Reckon Holsten Pils is the best deal for decent lager at the moment. Still less than £4/four pack at the Co-Op. Not seen owt at 5% ABV cheaper. Fuck knows why that's so cheap either. Not very popular these days, I suppose. Used to be me drink of choice at college.

Although voddy is one of the few drinks I think it genuinely pointless to spend actual money on. It all tastes like generic alcohol so why pay extra?

I disagree. I really can't stomach cheap vodka. Bought a bottle of Vladivar the other day cuz they were out of Stoli and boy did I pay the price. It's revolting. I often drink it neat, and that's really when you notice the difference.

I do have quite expensive taste when it comes to booze though. I can however drink any old beer and be happy with it. As long as it's above 5% I'm fine with it.

I admit to not being anywhere near a connoisseur, missus... but doesn't all voddy taste rank? I will admit the cheap shite does have more headache potential the morning after but always put it down to me drinking it like water cos it's "weak" since they dropped the percentage.

Well yeah, beer has shot up in price, I guess it is a pretty good deal, it's 5% n only 5€ as I'm in paddyland for the (urghhhh) foreseeable future :/

One day I will buy you a bottle of this, and I guarantee you will change you mind.

I have to admit, that's what initially attracted it to me. I mean, I've bought many fine album based on that idea alone, so figured I'd carry it over to drinks too.

Anyway, there's no nasty burn with this at all. It's almost like drinking water when you first taste it. It's really smooth until you get that nice warmth in your chest. Very delish indeed. And I went right off vodka until I started experimenting with the more premium varieties. But what I really hate is cheap shite pretending to be premium such as Finlandia and Vladivar etc. Even Absolut tastes like gastric juice to me. I really can't touch anything less than Stoli. The days of necking a bottle of Kirov over the park with some friends are thankfully now far behind me.

Totally agree on the "judge it by its looks" stuff when it comes to booze and tunes, TG.

Just accidentally swigged several measures of this 'ere "Imperial" generic Co-Op voddy (cos I'd left a splash of the last mugload in there so looked like it was just swill :o) and was surprised at how smooth it was really. Suspect that's just cos I've had a few already, mind. Made me hurl last time I did that 8)

Yep, that's my old trick for wine I'm not too keen on. After one or two glasses it doesn't really matter that it tastes like shite.

By the by, I've always been a big red wine fan, but I've really been feeling the sauvignon blanc of late. T'is my wine of choice atm.

Not a fan myself, but it seems Buckfast is going upmarket

An alcoholic drink synonymous with troublemakers has been adopted by a Michelin-starred chef to produce high-end dishes.

TV chef Martin Blunos has used Buckfast tonic wine to create a series of quality dishes.

Buckfast Beef Bourguinon, Mulled Pears and Buckfast Fruit Loaf are on the menu - with the famous super-strength wine a key ingredient.

The tonic wine was the subject of a documentary three years ago which revealed the tipple - made by monks - was a favourite of Scottish criminals.

The investigation found the drink was mentioned in more than 5,000 Scottish crime reports over just three years.

I <3 Bucky. Costs a bleedin' fortune south of the border though :(

Co-Op here have just started selling "herbal snapps" that tastes just like Bucky... no caffeine and nearly a tenner a bottle though. But 22% so swings and roundabouts.

Couple of Cobra beer. Was actually surprised how much i liked them. Not too fizzy and a fairly mild non-eventful sort of taste. Easy drinking

Congratulations %) me too. Day 11 eh......:\

How are you feeling by now, had the rattles yet or is it all psychological cravings?

Pretty good, last weekend was the worst as everyone went out , I might have to use a "golden pass" soon though !

Pretty used to taking dry spells though, try and take at least 4 or 5 months off the booze every other year just to give the old Liver a break. Plus when i get heavy into Buddhism and Meditation I tend to stop drinking for a few months anyways.

Ginger ale and NFL playoffs tonight :)

I think I'm at nearly 2 years, but I'm honestly unsure. I rarely think about booze any more **he says blatantly lying to himself** I do feel much better for it.

I'm on the cheap supermarket sugar free fizzy orange, with a dash of real orange juice

Law of diminishing returns really with booze, I enjoy a bevvie now and again, and work demands that you have to go out on the piss and network with it

Worst thing for me is that it becomes a gateway to doing grams of coke, hopefully when I make Managing Director( well at least Vice President I try to be realistic after all) my minions will go do the legwork for me and drink themselves silly and I can knock it on the head for good. I am at that stage in my life where I am seriously thinking about quittin booze full time anyway(and just stick to Psychedlics), I know I have an addictive gene on my fathers side so best to be aware of it before you lose all control as I have seen how progressive problem drinking(and other addictions ie gambling) are both in my family and in my field of work
