Hydroponics (Are they really that different)

Due to where I live, I cannot get any strains like you people over the US. I've never come across people doing hydroponics, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. They probably do exist to a close circle of people, but like I said before I've never come across it.

So... my friend, a very old friend with whome I frequently smoke up with, smoked some very heavy stuff the other day... he said it was so heavy that he couldn't remember how he got home. Now... the guy that smoked him out said "you can't buy this stuff", which I assume means he grows it himself. He even went on to talk about how the cannabis here has only %6 THC, which is probably true.

But I was wondering, could only 3 puffs off of some really potent hydroponic do this? I'm not questioning my friends honesty here, if he said it fucked him up it probably did... but I also read about people putting AM 2233 et al. on their bud and they got scarily fucked up...

I'm not paranoid about synth laced weed (if such a thing even exists) but more curious about how hydroponics differ to regular out or ingrown cannabis and other synths as well. Do you think this guy could have put some synthetic cannabinoid on the bud, too?

Thanks for the input.

Yes it definitely can if your friend had little tolerance. Also, the grower makes the weed, not the method. Organic all the way <3

Oh yeah - hydro (we call it indoor grown around here) produces way better product. Picture dense fat buds glistening in crystals - good hydro can be 20% or more thc content. If you're interested in doing your own small grow, check out led grow lights - they are new and can make growing a lot cheaper and easier since the light does not get really hot like other grow lights.

If done right, which is not easy but not unobtainable, you can grow a pound of bud per plant every three or four months.

I disagree. Most of the top shelf really high quality buds I've seen have been organics like freehugs said. I'd much rather prefer soil grown bud, even outdoor bud but that's just me. I'm not saying it's bad bud, you can get some great hydro but I don't think it's a superior product as far as quality goes.

just curious where you located?

^^ that's a really cool reply man... I always enjoy reading about other non-Us, non-Uk peoples' experiences.

Hydroponic is only a way of growing, but doesn't necessarily make the weed better.

When I buy weed I can't tell if it's hydro or soil grown, it all looks the same to me. Where I live, though, the vast majority is hydro due to the coldass weather and short outdoor growing season.

Personally can never tell the difference ive had mostly outdoor but hydro aswell, all the outdoor stuff I have had felt less foggy if that makes a bit of sense? Not sure why. Have been told hydro is often doused in various chemicals to make them grow faster and it has an effect on the high... could be broscience though

That's not really broscience as much as it is a myth. I don't know a single grower who uses any harsh chemicals, maybe just a bit of fertilizer in the very early stages. The difference in effects is probably just because you're smoking different strains.
