Intervention on A&E

ppl wanna see that shocking junkie do-whatever-it-takes to get high shit, and weed just isnt that

plus it just doesnt promote the message theyre trying to get accross, which is drugs are bad

if you were to have an episode on a pot head itd be someone watching youtube videos, talking about some philosophical shit and giggling their asses off. followed by eating a lot and passing out, and that doesnt make for good television

plus if u were to walk into a rehab and say ur doc is weed ppl will laugh at you, trust me ive laughed at ppl coming into a year long inpatient saying they only smoke weed. im like "......wtf r u doing here?"

I laugh at other people that get addicted to coke, heroin and the like. I just look at them and think, "....wtf were you thinking? you know there's, like, brochures and stuff that tell you how bad that shit is for you, right?"

Point blank, this is an inability to empathize with other people. You might be better served withholding judgement of a person until you can actually see the world through their eyes. Just a little advice you never asked for...

I have been hearing more and more about "marijuana maintenance" which is basically when an addict uses marijuana to replace their other more harmful addiction. A quick google search shows that it's used for alcoholics, but I know it's also used for other drugs. That's not the reason why they don't have many intervention episodes for people addicted to marijuana though, but I figured I would mention that it's becoming more accepted as a way to manage ones addiction to more harmful substances.

^A lot of people in the substance abuse field take a very black and white stance about a lot things, and don't believe "marijuana maintenance" is possible, the very idea of it pisses them off!....this Medical marijuana thing is gonna throw a wrench in the works!

It pisses them off because most people who work in the rehabilitation department don't like the idea of getting high, they don't like people who choose to get high and manage to do so without fucking up their lives, and they especially get jealous at such people for getting to live a more fulfilling life than they do.

</2 cents>

it's because you have to be a complete moron to be addicted to cannabis. Watch Janelle on Teen mom 2 for evidence of this lol.

dude that bitch is so stupid. i was so dumbfounded at everything she was saying

it literally had me saying out loud what the fuck? and i was the only one watching it lol

"im addicted to marijuana" no bitch your just a fucking moron and cant woman up and quit for your kid. shes a disgrace to society and it makes me sorta mad just typing this lol

Because what family would waste their money and time to seek help for someone smoking an unharmful plant.

thats awesome!! it is exactly what i am doing but i have never heard of actual marijuana maintenance but smoking good pot(and taking methadone of course)has saved me from a life of speed/benzo/crack blackouts that were eventually gonna kill me. i decided to just smoke good pot after the last time i woke up in a detox(long bad story)and i even recently quit smoking cigs. its been over a year now of only methadone with weed(3 days no smokes)and i have kept a great job in the family property business, excelled more in this time than all the years since and even starting to identify core issues that motivate me to numb my emotions. pot is wonderful, my savior really. it has been said that herb reveals you to yourself, i think thats true, when i was young it made me sick and gave me the spins, now it totally evens me out. although i know some addicts that cant handle just smoking pot so its not for everybody.

Oh man, I would love to get stoned and watch an episode of Intevention about a stoner.

There's certainly episodes where people have their DOC, and then they smoke a lot of weed.

This last one I watched, I forgot her name, but she was on there for meth, and her grandma was on intervention for meth earlier in the season, but it practically only showed her smoking hella weed and drinking, then did meth once or MAYBE twice on the whole show.

Off topic, but there was one on about a month ago about this guy Nick from Albuquerque that was hella addicted to heroin, it was an amazing episode.

My problem with the show it like any reality show, it's a new age freak show, something that people watch to see others at their worse, to be shocked, amused, disgusted and captivated by some poor stumblefuck as they are stuck in the dire depths of addiction. They show them screaming, angry, violent, totally fucked up and people, of course love it. Then at the very end of the show they show the intervention, the final peak of raw emotion, which again, enthrals viewers, it's an entertainment show of the wrost kind because when they do whisk them off to rehab, they show nothing of it. They don't show the the horrors of detox, the difficulties of resolving psychological issues, the depression, anger, regret, guilt and the adjustment a person needs to make to live a live without drugs. They don't explain the process, do next to no follow up, it's just 40 mins of "car crash" TV, showing them checking in to rehab, and 30seconds of how they are now. Don't you think showing all that would be the useful and informative part?! I know I know, that ain't what people wanna see, but even just 10mins of it would make it slightly credible.

On another note Dr Drew Pinsky is the biggest cunt alive with his show, limelight bathing, egocentric, self serving narcissistic twat.

^Oh, Dr Drew's a camera whore face-fuck douche!

You said it though, I've lived through the horrors of "drug addiction" and I'd still rather see only 30 seconds of touchy feely recovery shit! Who wants to watch somebodys mom cry and go on a monologue about what a good kid "little johnny" was and show me his little league trophies for 10 fucking minutes?!

I fucking HATE "Intervention." You can't push an addict into a corner, have their "loved ones" rag on them, and then threaten them with all kinds of bullshit. No one is going to stay clean unless they want to stay clean. Messing with their head by using emotional crap is just fucking wrong.

Yeah, I HATE this show, and I HATE 12 step Nazis. Fuckers.

It's not "maintenance" when the person is an addict, and having them get a substitute addiction to another drug even if it's weed is not the best thing to do and not everyone wants to do this. I know people who are for lack of a better term "addicted" at least psychologically to herb. They've been smoking daily since their teenage years and still smoke in their 50s and 60s daily. There are even people who write on bluelight about how they get physical withdrawal when they don't get their daily THC or how they cannot eat unless they're stoned.

Maintenance is a word that an only be used properly in the case of something like methadone or Suboxone for opiates

More like "weed therapy" or something. I use this method to kick opiates. Makes a world of difference. NA and AA will say "oh lawdz noes! This will turn you into a raving mad junkie again!" For some it does, getting them back into the cycle of being high etc. but for most no, no,

It makes me want to cry when I hear some kid at an NA meeting "i was addicted to weed. It was horrible." And "in my using days I was a piece of shit...." Etc etc. just so goddamn dumb, get addicted to alcohol or heroin for a few years kid, you'll know what legitimate addiction is.

Weed is addicting like gambling or sex is addicting

weed isn't even near as addicting as gambling or sex, it's addictive like caffeine is. Gambling and sex addiction are actual issues that people have.

My dad has smoked cannabis for like 30 years now and when he goes without he complains of massive withdrawals and i feel like just saying try going through benzo and opiate withdrawal at the same time and get back to me about how bad those cannabis withdrawals are. It pisses me off, man the fuck up and quit for the 3 whole days of withdrawal. Compared to a year recovery for benzos and several months for many opiates, cannabis is absolutely nothing. I'll never fiend for weed the way i do every other drug on this planet.
