legal guns v. ?s and discussion

^ Nice Ruger, bmxxx. In my military days, I shot/trained with .45 and 9mm guns so when I got out, I found .40 to be a nice go between.

thank you :]

never shot a .40 i don't think, but really considering it when i actually get another gun at some point. very very common cartridge for LE, so that's definitely saying something yknow?

btw i forgot to mention in my previous post you can also go to some ranges and rent guns they have to shoot. just a thought if you want to actually fire a few before you buy. bmxxx nice mossberg. ive actually been looking at a 500 but i wanna do short barrel with a pistol grip but keep it wood furniture, that or an ar

i'm sure this goes w/o saying, but barrel length is not something to play with on your own and can make the weapon into a "machine gun" license category, iirc. something along those lines.. i think my mossberg was 1 or 2" above what the maximum shortness allowed was, and i wanted to saw it to the shortest (18") but didn't wanna fuck it up, figured a shop would do it cheap for me, and they acted shocked when i proposed it! so definitely keep that barrel where the factory chose ;]

my babies...my rem 597 .22 long semi-aout is out for repair. I lost the shell ejector plunger when cleaning. having a new one installed.

Left to right:

Winchester 1400 - 3 shot semi-auto 12ga (full choke)
NewEngland Fire arms - single shot 20ga
Mossberg 144 LS - bolt action .22 cal with simons 3-9X32
Thompson Center Arms Blak Diamond - .50 cal muzzle loader with simons pro-hunter 3-9x40

and my fox tail on the self above. I found a dead fox during deer gun season and cut the tail off. someone shot the poor guy and it they never recovered it. :(

^i would LUB to go shooting with you!

aaaand, as i have trouble resisting gun pr0n:

^mossberg 5000(no, not a 500, a 5000. it's very very rare, you probably haven't heard of it. hipsterjesus.jpg)
awesome gun for fun-blasting w/ 12g birdshots :)

^ruger p345, my 1st firearm ever; kept w/ .45 hydrashock ammo's, when i still thought firearms were solid for home-protection (have since become of the opinion that knives are far superior when confronting an intruder, for multiple reasons). Was sold very quickly. While it was an incredible piece mechanically, and had a "feel in your hand" better than *any* item i've ever owned, it wasn't as much fun at the range as a 9mm. If i want bang, i'll use a shotty, if i wanna aim, a 9mm is great; the .45 caliber came across to me as a 'hybrid' between the 2 purposes, adn as any discerning consumer is well aware, "hybrid" anything means 'not as good as other, proper options'.
/edit: yes, those are clearly fmj shells in the clip, good eye. there was only 2 boxes of fmj, or non-hydra shocks, for that matter, put through this pistol, and both were from time of purchase

standard, bluelight-specific mumbo-jumbo: these guns are fully legal / registered, and not in my possession anymore (sold to valid buyers w/ full paper-trail, any busybodies could prolly magnify/verify serial#'s to corroborate)

I always wanted to shoot a tactical. everything I have is for hunting purposes. I have shot several pistols and I like to shoot them I just don't have any use for them really. I would like to get a 44 mag revolver because it is legal to hunt with them in my state as long as the barrel is 6 inches or longer.

my 12ga is a pussy cat to shoot. its heavy and gas operated so its less than half the kick of a pump or single shot 12ga. I can burn a box of shells for that thing in like 5 minutes and can shoot all day without brusing my sholder

see, i've always wanted to go hunting... and will. just don't know any hunters (i got into guns on my own, the only friends i had in the legit gun scene were target shooters..actually they were a group of s&w trainers i became close with, that's where i got that mossberg posted above! it was actually used in afghanistan, i bought it from one of the kids there)
/SOOON, hunting will happen. a friend was going to bring me boar hunting w/ him (no guns allowed<unsure if personal or legal rule..irrelevant i guess>, but still woulda been a hunt), but family-tragedy prevented that. SOOON, i hope to have hunting (and fishing...lol all ya want!) under my belt :) )

FL is the place to be for fishing. I fished the butler chain of lakes in orlando a long time ago. and my uncle lives in west palm and fishes okeechobee alot. FL is also a turkey hunter's paradise from what I hear. I love to hunt turkey...nothing like it. calling, birds responding, full camo, stealth...its everything hunting is about to me. I am going after deer with my crossbow tomorrow morning. Its going to be rough though...it just put down 6 inches of snow.

The only boar hunting we have here is on game ranches in southern OH. as guided hunts go they are not that expensive...but I am a DIY guy when it comes to hunting. to tel you the truth...the first few years of hunting all I wanted to do was kill something. now I could care less if I even shoot anything. I go to be out in nature and o see the wild life. If you are going just to kill things you are doing it for the wrong reason.

am envious. i really need to make hunting/fishing happen, but really came/stayed in fl w/o family (have 2 relatives here, and one is in a halfway house...came here w/ neither of them tho and for reasons unrelated)

honestly i really intend to do some big game hunting at some point in the "near" future (ie, the next 5yrs). Really thought one of my friends would make that happen w/ the boar but don't think i can hang w/ him for a long time now unfortunately... What's the biggest thing you've ever killed? He spoke of our local boar as if they were true beasts, adn when i asked about guns, the way he responded implied it was a personal (not legal) choice amongst him/his family not to bring guns; you hunt the boar w/ traps and are protected w/ knives.

i imagine hunting is a truly incredible experience, and really do hold it as an important recreation/experience to do at some time (since this type of sentiment has bitten me in the ass b4, i'll clarify that i think it is immoral to kill an animal w/o processing it appropriately, ie skin/fur and meat. Whether I hook a 2' fish, or kill big game, i'd require the ability to process the animal otherwise i wouldn't be comfortable killing it. that's not said in any manner besides clarification and is no joke, i would literally give up any and all opportunities if i knew this were not allowed)

Last year I took and 8 point with my muzzle loader...not very big when you are talking about rack size but it dressed out at 270lbs. I would like to hunt moose in alaska or canada....1500lds!!!

in FL anything over 100lbs in considered big. the colder the temp, the bigger the deer. a 270lbs deer in parts of canada is mid-sized

they are turely the most ferocious game in the eastern US and you could argue for the #1 spot all over the US. only thing that might be able to hold a candel to them is coastal brown bear or the polar bear IMO. they can't see particularly well but can smell better than any animal alive. they can run very fast, are powerfull, and will explosively attack when cornered. the bite wounds people and dogs get from then are horrific!...I am not sure if I would have the stones to go after one without at least a large caliber handgun strapped to my side.

i don't know what 8pt means (is that volume or weight?)... but the boar were >270lbs for sure the way he described....am not knowledg'd here but very sure the boars break 300lbs routinely.

yeah he's not the tall-tale type and he def had me convinced this was a serious undertaking. and absolutley ZERO guns, but iirc this was a personal thing and not "custom" or legal minded (he's a 2nd-gen mexican american, adn has a strong 'cowboy' streak lol).
/and yeah forgot earlier, but dogs were definitely a part of the hunt. just not guns. the dogs find and corner (begin to subdue maybe? not sure) the boar, and the humans go in for the kill. I was very concerned at the idea of no guns LOL.

"point" refers to the number of tines on the antlers. normally the more points a rack of antlers has the larger the antlers are thus the larger the deer...most deer are judged by the size of their antlers because thy are regarded as trophies.

270lbs is a good sized hog but depending on the type of hog they can reach over twice that. but the hogs in the US are normally in the 100-200lbs range and can top out at about 400lbs so a 270lbs wild hog is not out of the question. most of the time they are hunted with hartey dogs like pitbulls (even saw a great dane on one show). they make body armor for the dogs if that is any indication of how violent they can be. the dogs chase and hold the hogs until the hunters catch up and kill. I have heard of spears being used and if you watch videos of hog hunts you will see how well the dogs are able to control them so I can see a kinfe kill as being possible...I just don't want to be that close. not my style really...I bet it is very exciting though :)

wow, kinda cool to verify there was no bullshit in all this lol! enough OT-ness tho, this is guns from political perspective. srs bizness :|
/oh and ppl fish for sharks around here - that was a "supposed to" that fell through to typical bullshitters, not actual, extenuating circumstances..
