What sort of pitch is this? If Pieterson doesn't know then I'm buggered if I do. Cook outed by the umpire (bastard), Bell trying his best to be the new Samit Patel. Let's Root for Root. And/or Prior. If one of them goes on and we score 350 I'm guessing it's difficult to lose from there. Interesting, if slow, first day.

Reality? All out before lunch for 249.

Diabolical wicket two bad decisions . Lets hope Root n Prior can dig in & get a decent tally.
What do you make of the inclusion of Bresnan?
India going with one seamer & a Leggy in Chawla do you remember the last tour when Chawla made his debut ?

He was only a kid a thin one he has certainly padded out to say the least . On that tour he was talked about as being the future of the India Spin attack . Now i think they are clutching at straws hence the inclusion of Jadeja a one day & T20 specialist .

All a bit weird but still that's why i Love Test Cricket .

Welcome to India. You you think they were going to just give up and forget about 100 odd years of British Raj? I would have put money on the pitch being doctored and one or two decision going the way of the home side, particularly in a must win last Test. Makes it easier when there is no review system in play. Not a bad first day in the end for England, Prior has earned his keep in this tour (pun intended).

Aus Sri Lanka starts today and despite the groundsman's assurances it looks like a shocking pitch before a ball is even bowled. The last few Shield games in Hobart have ended under 3 days with a couple of first innings totals under 100. Looks like a good toss to win and bowl first but Australia rarely not choose to bat. Malinga the Slinger is on fire in 20/20 ( Took 6/7 the other night) and I'd say Australia will be lucky not to be 3/20 again.

Bloody Brilliant .

Well done Mr Cook & Co. A fantastic series win on the sub Cont. I enjoyed the whole series despite some iffy Wickets . Test Cricket is still the king although the Indian public will be probably more excited about the upcoming 50 over & t20 games .

Couldn't agree more Brimz.

Have we seen the end of Sachin? if so, what a dismal match and a dismal pitch to go out on. So much so that I can't help thinking they have to give him some sort of benefit test. Not sure of India's test schedule but I think they have Pakistan next.

We've got 5 against New Zealand. Three away, two home. Before that ridiculous scheduling that sees us playing ten ashes test matches in 6 months. 8(

We had better not have seen the last of Monty. Biggest thing in his favour is Cook loves him (he called him a Captain's dream). The selectors don't. See First Test in India. Ridiculous. He has a strike rate to rival Swann and Anderson when it comes to wickets per test. Along with Cook's batting he did as much as anyone to win this series. Phenomenal amount of overs bowled for a mean runs per over average. You can see why Cook loves him.

To Auckland. Or not according to our kiwi friends.

India also have Australia at home. I doubt they could afford to carry him into that series unless they are happy to sacrifice the first Test as a testimonial.

Australians cleared of ball tampering although any time you run your nails across the seam it is never going to look good.

Yeah i know it's not real cricket but i did enjoy watching the last two overs of the T20 match . The last ball 6 was particularly satisfying . India will be gutted as they really wanted this after their dismal Test series.

Also spotted that we are No1 in the odi ratings . England Cricket is looking good in all formats .

New Zealand in "winning a game" shock.

169 to win in 19 overs. Guptill slamming it around and 11 needed off the last over. But Munro holds the strike for 5 balls, scoring 7. Guptill on 97 needs to hit a 4 off the last ball to win the game and to reach his century. He slams the ball through the covers, and there it is....you beauty! You little ripper! :)

Quick heads-up for cricket lovers who are bored on Christmas Day: India v Pakistan starting soon. Thank God not everyone's Christian ;)

I see Samit had another cracker of a game.

How the fuck is he getting into any of these teams?

why, he's the token asian pick. not in favour of positive discrimination then?

cook gets better each time he walks out to bat, really impressed with him this series. bell confused matters by scoring runs, id probably keep him on.. just about, depends how compton comes along. aussies will target bell, such a shame as if he only had a boycott/dravid/trott mentality to go with his incredible talent we'd have a monster in the middle order

Good thing I didnt fancy a punt on this game, especially when Pakistan were 12-3

Not a massive fan of this Pajama cricket format, but the game was entertaining nonetheless

Hope Johnson keeps taking cheap wickets. Could do with him playing against us this summer.

Boxing Day test bit of a damp squib in Melbourne.
